I found the first 3/4 boring but by the end, I couldn't help being really impressed with it. It's the weirdest 360 my opinion has ever done, but the world building needs to be wrapped up fully to be appreciated properly. The main characters were really unengaging and that's probably why I found it boring to begin with, but it makes up for them in other areas.

Try change your attention from happenings and characters that are boring, to it, because they are only tools to show how the system in their brand new world works. Maybe it will help you to enjoy it more. I liked it, even though I expected Higurashi tier mystery from the firs episodes.

It had nothing to do with the budget, they had a change of animation director. You can look it up, the whole thing was a shitstorm that caused that old fuck to resign.
I don't know if it was the same for SSY or if that was just QUALITY though.
