The dialogue is pretty neutral, but all her introspection is presented in a very gloomy light. I mean literally, the movie is gloomy as fuck compared to the manga, even visually.
Like the dialogue comes off as very stilted and unrealistically serious, until you realize that Motoko is just depressed as fuck and afraid of what she's been turned into, and that the movie's style is supposed to convey the horror of her condition.
