That's not a bankai.
Thread migration: Completed.
I also have something in my mind for long... Why the hell was Ichigo saying that he was to become Getsuga (back in Deicide).
Wouldn't it be more like saying 'I will become Zangetsu', but why becoming the name of the attack?
"This power is called bankai"
There's like an explosion of reiatsu.
Ken's appearence changes and he becames red.
Ikkaku: What's happening?
Yumichika: Look! Captain's skin...it's red!"
Gerald stares at Zaraki with cold eyes
"Aside from a sudden rise in reiatsu, there're not enough changes to call it a bankai.
What a let down...Surely you can't call that a bankai!
What a shame, Kenpachi Zaraki.
It hurts me to use my sword of hope against the likes of you."
Gerald, raising his sword while facing Zaraki:
Zaraki howls like a beast and swings his zan before Gerald can attack.
Gerald's right arm is cut off.
Kenpachi jumps toward him, Gerald tries to defend with his shield, but the shield is cut in half and he's injured on the forehead.
Zaraki attacks him again on the chin, causing him to fall.
"What's this insane power?"
Gerald is now out of the plate and is falling toward SS.
Toshiro: "Shit, he's falling!"
But on Gerald's back two large wings appear.
Gerald "Impossible, impossible, impossible!"
"A mere shinigami has the upper hand against me?
I don't accept it!"
Kenpachi follows him out of the plate.
Gerald grasps his sword with a regenerate arm.
"You were a fool not to run! Be turned into ash!"
But Kenpachi swings his Zan with all his might.
Editor's comment: Cut in half!!
Because he devoted his entire being to becoming that one final attack. It wasn't just becoming the sword. He put literally everything he had and was into the one strike that would finally defeat Aizen.
>Not enough changes
Weren't all the Vandenreich informed about Ichigo's "Bankai"? The concept of a Bankai that doesn't provide significant physical change shouldn't be foreign to them.
How much do you bet Kenpachis bankai will be the perfect counter to Geralts power?
Kubo is such a shit writer. Made me lose interest even for the beast a long time ago.
I only read it to see it ending at last.
And because Yoruichi. At least he delivered.
I'm getting so fucking tired. I think I'm losing the battle against sleep. I waited years for this reveal, and I'm going to miss the hype from the threads.
At least its not FKT arc straight-perfect-matchup bullshit, at least in this arc some people have fought and lost Captains vs Gerard, Shunsui vs Lille, Urahara vs Askin, Zaraki vs Pernida, before the counter arrived or someone realized their power was a viable counter.
If at some point a counter didn't appear then they'd all die and thats it.
How do you know he is not getting hurt? Wait for chapter. We still don't know if he still gets cuts after damaging sword/shield, and maybe he's just become such a beast that won't care much about the received cuts or at least be able to endure them much more.
I use to do that, but lost my way.
Berserker Zaraki sounds pretty hype to me. It suits his character, and in all honesty I was hoping for this kind of reveal. Not just Yachiru is sword reveal, but the bankai is focused on his murderous intent at the cost of his life abandoned.
Looks like he got a hole in his chest and is still alive?
One is previous thread for chapter discussion/speculation, already on page 10 because bump limit
Second is not chapter discussion, its some meta shit
This one is discussion/speculation continuation
Yeah I honestly don't care about Jump but since Kazuki Takahashi is drawing again for them and I'm seeing leaks for all these other Jump manga I was wondering if there is a particular source where all the scans come from so I can read the YGO manga.
Old spoiler thread is finally archived.
No need to keep the butthurt about not posting on it anymore or why should we post in here. Now this is the only spoiler thread.
If Zaraki turned red and got the weird markings on the face plus white eyes, does that mean he is 'undead' now?
I mean, drawing parallels with the Shinigami that were turned 'undead' by Giselle, skin was reddish, eyes were white, and there were markings on the face.
Also Zaraki's sword got a bit smaller and lost the hilt-thing it had on the top. Its lower corner (that makes it resemble an axe or scythe) looks pointier, and the blade itself looks very worn down.
Now I can finally sleep. Don't need translations to understand Zaraki has opened the can of whoop ass on Thor here. If he is really in berserk mode, I just hope it doesn't case him to attack his allies. If it does, we might see everyone having to fight Zaraki.
This is my prediction.
It looks like a meat cleaver.
remeber wehn bakais were big, ellaborate constructs like sense depravation chamber, giant snake spine thing, millions of dancing swords, poisonous monster babys..
Now its BAM now i am harder better faster stronger, grew some new clothes, and mabye have some passive bullshit aura.
Could it be that Zaraki's new skill is similar to the Final Getsuga Tensho?
Not on powerscale I mean (because Ichigo is special as fuck, and FGT power is off the charts, maybe the only other battle with that power will be Yhwach vs Ichigo), but similar as in the wielder 'becoming the sword' and that stuff.
Zaraki's sealed was comparable to other captains' shikais.
Zaraki's shikai was comparable to other captains' bankais.
Could it be that Zaraki's bankai is sort of like a further level of power above what is bankai for the other captains?
If Ichigo could 'become one with the sword', and Isshin knew about such thing and said he could teach him, it means that other Shinigami could technically reach that level of integration with their sword and 'become it', which may also explain why his body literally changed (which is not seen in any other bankai).
The only other sword power that changed the wielders' body itself was FGT.
>Zaraki's sealed was comparable to other captains' shikais.
why it was just a sword, he was just far above anyone else physically and in spirit pressure
that was the point of his character
In all fairness Tousen only lost because he's all around incompetent and retarded.
His bankai allows him a one hit kill on any enemy and he wastes it cutting up Kenpachi a little first.
Not here they're not
A savage ogre in Japanese folklore. The term is exchangable with demon, in western myths.
There are still other captains that zaraki could probably fight evenly without shikai, such as Soi Fon, Komamura (pre-power up),Kensei...
You can't really put all captains' bankai at the same level.
He did grow horns.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
>build up the character as skeleton themed
>bankai is a red oni
Ah, those were not markings. Those are the horns' shadows. Fuck.
Most likely the thing in the middle isn't a space/hole for an eye, its just some sort of shadow/hole because of facial muscles being pushed together by the horns emerging.
Tousen's bankai is pretty damn powerful, the problem is that it's a a gimmicky de-buff bankai. I mean, if you can deprive your enemy of both their ability to see and hear, it would usually be GG. But it doesn't actually make Tousen any stronger. And Tousen's biggest problem is that he didn't have enough strength to kill Zaraki, and inside that little debuff bubble of his bankai, all Tousen has is his normal shinigami skills and a sealed zanpakuto.
So it's biggest weakness is that if anyone defence is great enough to resist a cut from Tousen using a sealed Zanpakuto (or any Kido he might use), it's a useless bankai. But if he could feasibly kill them with a sealed sword, then its incredibly powerful
what a fucking disappointment
shit bankai, shit fight, shit chapter that can be read in 45 seconds
Boy, if anything was truly foreshadowed, its that.
Some other stuff may have not really been foreshadowed, like Kubo going back to pick up stuff left unresolved again and resolve it and make it look like foreshadowing.
But the Yhwach/Quincy Ichigo stuff is one of the things that has been planned from the very beginning.
>this 30 second chapter will sell millions
This doesn't make any sense. If he's that strong, that bite would have just gone through Gerard's finger. Kenpachi wouldn't be able to hold on to it and then apply enough force to pull off his arm while the hand stays intact.
I guess Kubo wanted to show off how savage Kenpachi is now by using his mouth.
Tousen's bankai also stifled the ability to sense reiatsu. There was legitimately no reason for him to be a generalist. With a Bankai like that the only logical path to pursue is Kido corps. Think about how Tessai/Aizen/Urahara/Yamamoto drop high level kidos. Shits not entirely useless. And when you have all the time in the world to recite the full incantation and your opponent can't see it coming you only stand to profit.
Tousen's biggest weakness was that he was a retard that didn't minmax.
Most of he stuff in that picture is nowhere near qualificable as foreshadowing. In fact, I'd say that only the shadow part counts, everything else is stuff that can be applied to any shinigami (or vizard for the things regarding the hollow).
so the little blade looks a hell of a lot like 1st gen Zangetsu
in fact, the entire thing is eerily reminiscent of 1st Gen Zangetsu/Tensa Zangetsu
What? A large monster would be the worst opponent for Tousen since it can just smash everything in the vicinity without the need to be accurate. Tousen's Bankai is useful for killing glass cannon humanoids.
This is so fucking Bloodborne. I dig it.
>that short broken weapon
I hope Kubo won't leave us hanging on the name of the bankai and its power.
Who needs a special ability when you can just straight up rip people to shred? Kenpachi has finally become the monster that Mayuri described him to be in the Nnoitra fight. Get in his way, and you'll get eaten up.
yeah but for the amount of hype there was built up to this moment? it was an extreme letdown to just get pigmentation change, dropping to all fours and a fucking meat cleaver added with retard strength
Yfw you realize that little sword is Yachiru
Why would kenpachi bankai have any special ability? He is all about raw power. Just like the rest of the 11th division. He will despite his zanpaktou if it has any kido or hax ability.
No, I know. Komamura's Bankai is huge bruh. Unless Tousen's Bankai can be adjusted to have a different range, which is completely possible, he'd get wrecked by a few random swings.
And remember, even with his Hollow transformation power-up, Tousen had trouble wounding Komamura's Bankai. Cuts that would chop a normal guy's arm off will only leave shallow wounds in the giant because... it's just strong as fuck.
specifically, he bit Thor's hand, then used that as leverage to rip the entire arm off
HE STOPPED A DIRECT PUNCH FROM A GIANT
HE STOPPED AN ATOMIC BOMB PUNCH FROM A GIANT GOD
WITH HIS BARE TEETH
WITH HIS MOUTH
>Wasn't made with the old man being actually Yhwach in mind, it was just a coincidence I bet
It wasn't a coincidence, but it wasn't a reference to Yhwach either. It was about the fact that when you become a vizard your hollow takes the place of your zanpakuto's spirit, which is why white Ichigo says "I am zangetsu". He'd have said that even if zangetsu was a normal spirit and not Yhwach.
Black things are not hors, gray (red) things on top cutting into his hairline are horns, for those that still don't see them.
Still, since they do look like markings, my first thought after seeing him was "Zaraki bankai turns him into Lobo". Which seems pretty good comparison considering skin color change and ripping off arm with his teeth.
Is this the only cool thing that has happened in Bleach in forever? Kubo even managed to make Urahara's bankai boring, I guess you can always rely on based Zaraki.
Anyway, it's back to boring shit now.
Straight out of Bloodborne. That's so neat.
HOLY SHIT HE BIT A GIANTS FUCKING ARM OFF
>train the guy in Kendo for a million years
You mean literally one day, Mr. Speedreader?
According to Mangastream, Kubo puts titles in english almost always. This time he wrote it literally in japanese.
The 'Blade' chapter title (when he released the shikai against Gremmy) seems to have been written in English (or at least in Mangapanda it sows up in english, maybe it was japanese and they tranlated it).
Byakuya's a dead man walking, he lost his stomach to As Nodt. Only thing thats keeping him alive is will and the rejuvinating riatsu of the healing spring. He won't be around much longer now
>who could go 1 on 1 with any espada
I think Byakuya right now could probably go 3 on 1 with any Espada considering he took down 3 Sternritter with no trouble at all with Shikai.
>for a million years
Level 0 reader detected
I see, so back then they either translate it or kubo wrote it in english.
At least this time they didn't translate it and put a note saying that the titles are usually in english.
Do you have all MS old chapters? Or where do you access them?
I can't see how his bankai could help him against this.
Took a minute
Clearly, nobody back then figured out that there could have been some meaning to leaving title untranslated
wait, when did Byakuya's shikai get upgraded?
Also if one Bankai is really developed in the series, that must be Byakuya's. It has a plethora of powers, and Byakuya controls it pretty well.
The reason why Renji got an upgrade it was because he was not completely familiar with it, didn't know its whole name (which the monk teached him what it was really like). So in a sense Renji didn't got upgraded, just got to know the real bankai. Rukia got straight to learning the name and mastering it fast.
Byakuya is already really familiar and has mastered it, so there's no help he can get from monk.
>mfw Miracleman is sliced in half and falls to SS, landing on top of Aizen and destroying the chair
So the rule that Byakuya mentioend to Ichigo about bankai being big things, not something smaller than the shikai is now bullshit? Ichigo's fake bankai was smaller because, well, it was fake. But now Nozarashi's bankai blade is way smaller than its shikai. Fuck, it's actually cut in half.
That's debunked already. Nigger, do you not read Bleach and just skim over the pictures?
The cleaver Ichigo had was proven to not be shikai (or a Zanpakutou at all) as well, as it was projected by his inner Nazi.
Visually speaking, Kyoraku's bankai only did something impressive (again, "visually") when both him and the howl guy ended up drowing in water. Other than that, it only applied wounds on the enemy.
Urahara had the giant woman yes, but she pratically did nothing, to the point that Kubo didn't even include her in the panels during most of the fight.
>projected by his inner Nazi
Im pretty sure Kubo is about to double neg on that comment
Something along the lines of
Kenpachis sword is always in Shikai. With Nozarashi being his bankai, and what we just saw in this chapter being Nozarashis true power
And poison baby the first time around did nothing but be big and spew poison.
Komamura bankai did nothing but be a visually big and strong dude.
Get your shit straight. The abilities of Kyoraku and Uraharas bankai are in no sense worse than Tousens bankai, or others. They have neat special effects and some big thing to keep them company.
The only really boring ones are SoiFon, Hitsugaya and now Zaraki, unless Zaraki's bankai isn't done being shown yet and has something else up his sleeve.
Byakuya was just being foolish and arrogant. There's other Bankai's that are fairly compact, like Yamamoto, Kensei, Gin's when its compressed.
It's worth noting that most Captains will have only seen a couple of their peers' bankai, and that would only really happen if a) they trained a subordinate, b) sat on a captain's exam, or c) were really close to another captain.
Byakuya doesn't fit any of those, so chances are he hasn't seen a single bankai of another captain and has probably only heard rumors of them. Large expansion seems to be the norm, so it's likely he misinturpreted "bankai are usually large" to "bankai are all ways large"
that and it's probably a retcon by Kubo
I love this chapter to death, Kenpachi is the saving grace of Bleach imo, and the art on this page is great.
But fuck me, I can't bloody unsee the Hitler moustache under Zaraki's nose.
> I think the bade was broken by Gerard in the last chapter.
nah, it seemed to be bigger than now.
No, you are missing the point of what the other guy meant. What you are talking about would fall under the "bullshit passive aura" he mentioned. He was prabably complaining about how the bankai look like, not what they do.
Ichigo was surely planned to be a Quincy, at least as a possibility, from early on, his hollow powers were largely unexplained, and it appears VERY early that his father and Uryuu's father went way back, other than being both doctors (exactly, from when his father sends people to Ishida's hospital and tells them to say that he sent them, and they will make room).
Not to mention his hollow powers were mostly unexplainable, unless you supposed Urahara shenanigans.
May explain the small horns.
Bankai is characterized by a great expansion in reiatsu and/or a great effect of some sort on one's surroundings, or weapon. Ichigo went against that because his reiatsu did not expand, it compressed and his sword did grow, it shrank. After seeing how it worked first hand even Byakuya had to admit that it was a bankai.
Kenpachi's reiatsu soared, his blade changed and he gained immense strength, great enough to even grab a giant and push him off a hovering city on a plate in the sky. It may not be complete, but neither are the bankai of any bankai user who hasn't had theirs for at least a decade. Renji, Ichigo, Rukia and now Kenpachi, none of their bankai are perfected yet.
Like I said to the other guy, I don't think this guy>>139739583 was complaining about the abilities, but rather the way they look. Their abilities may be cool (and definitely stronger than the "old school" bankais), but they don't look cool like, for example, Renki's old bankai, Hytsugaya's bankai (dragon armor is cool in my opinion, not boring), even Mayuri's bankai is cool in its weirdness.
SO APPARENTLY ZARAKI BANKAI ACTIVATES SATAN HOLY MOTHER OF CUNTS
So this was a Hellboy reference, correct? I'm impressed with the presentation this time, we've been told little about it but using Gerard for scale we can clearly see how much stronger Zaraki is in this form compared to a chapter ago.
Thus far I loved it. Simple and badass. I was hoping he would have white hair though.
However I do hope there's more to it than what it seems like. We're talking about a guy who destroyed an entire meteor with a single blow from his shikai so what he's doing now is nothing really amazing. He could have done it using his shikai for all we care.
I hope there is some hax to it. Like if the foe hurts him then it hurts the foe as well. Like Kyoraku's bankai. Or some mystic healing or indestructible skin. If it's just raw power than it's nothing different from what we've seen before.
The possibility was there, but the foreshadowing wasn't nearly as much as what that pic implied.
>Not to mention his hollow powers were mostly unexplainable, unless you supposed Urahara shenanigans.
What? Urahara stated that he used a gas that turned spirits in hollows during the second phase of the training. Obviously now we know that isn't the reason for Ichigo's hollow power, but at the time it was perfectly believable for him to become a vizard as a result of that training.
I remember last week when I said "but Yamamoto's bankai was small, guys" and everyone jumped on my case claiming shit like area of effect being part of the bankai.
"it can be felt throughout the entire Seireitei so its the size of the entire Seireitei hurr"
Stops it with the petals just like they stopped Getsuga Tensho. That's if he even needs it, Starrk is fast (and despite what Zommari says, probably the fastest hollow, seeing how even Ichigo couldn't react at all when he kidnapped Orihime), but Byakuya is probably faster than the Ceros.
What I meant by arm cutting, is that one~two chapters ago he cut the arm with the shikai.
But then, while on shikai, he couldn't cut the shield, not do much more damage, thus refuting >>139742220 who says that
>so what he's doing now is nothing really amazing. He could have done it using his shikai for all we care.
He needed to go bankai to actually be able to cut the shield with the sword, and sever the arm with his bite.
The shield? Fine. But what about the rest? He was chopping little pieces off of Gerard and could barely hurt the guy. What happened to the overpowered blade that could blow the fuck out of a giant meteor?
That is classic Kubo. Make something look incedibly OP in a chapter so it will be weak as fuck next time it's used. I know Gerard is an elite sternritter, but he is a giant target. There is no reason for Zaraki not being able to cut him in half while on shikai like he did by the end of this chapter.
Honestly this additional shit at the end from niggastream entertained me more than the chapter.
MS are a bunch of halfwits, they've been fucking up Kubo's obviusly deliberate uses of Japanese in his titles for months without a word about it
In terms of effect most other captains bankai are pretty massive, if i was being generous i'd say he meant in terms of impact; Tousen gets a giant sphere but his sword is the same etc.
I think the explanation is rather that he grew up in Zaraki, which is the worst part of Rukongai, and practically hell, so he thinks of himself as a demon, and that's reflected in his bankai.
Yeah I agree that the cutting in half could be done with the shikai, I think he may have actually tried to do that, but the shield stopped him, but now there's no shield, or just a bit of it.
What the Shikai could barely touch were the sword and shield. There's something super hax about those two. Hax enough to make them more resistant than a meteor.
I mean, even making a small dent in the sword made some insta-karma heavy damage to Zaraki.
If you read the Bleach wiki the canon is described from what we currently know. i.e. Zangetsu is his hollow and Old man Zangetsu is the manifestation of this Quincy powers.
When you see it talking about the characters describing them by their real names in those past events when all of this mind fuck ambiguity is going on. It still makes sense. It doesn't feel like it was retrofitted. It actually looks like it's now told from Zangetsu's POV instead of Ichigo's since before we were all under the same impression as Ichigo.
>Ichigo powered up from an ordinary human to captain level in days and from above average captain to mountain shattering transcendent in a matter of hours (in real time)
>Kenpachi is strong enough to toy around with broken Sternritters like Gremmy or the Soul King's heart
>Aizen has enough reiatsu to evaporate nearby souls and he was confident he could shoot down the entire royal palace
>Ichibei can seal your powers and effectively erase you from existence
>Urahara needs help from Grimmjow to kill a regular Sternritter turned elite
Why was Urahara so underwhelming?
This was a particularly annoying example of that shonen trope of "opponent in denial" or whatever you want to call it
>gets arm ripped off
>shield cleaved and forehead sliced open
>smacked off the floating palace
"how foolish of you not to run now"
Fuck you, no one reacts this way to getting so thoroughly outclassed. It maybe made sense for Aizen to be this way at the end because his god complex, but way too many villains do this in bleach
Well, perhaps there is a case to be made if you're one of the elites of the chosen people as decided by the 'almighty' himself. He also has a hax ability, one of the 'conceptual' types which sound OP as fuck at first, but then are broken by sheer irrationality (cue zaraki) or the "reiatsu trumps all" principle that aizen mentioned.
Urahara got put up against the worst possible Sternritter. Of all the SS quincies he was the only "normal one" who was allowed into the group because of his broken ass ability. Urahara is not in the 5 because of his great power, but because of his intellect and resourcefulness.
>Kenpachi is strong enough to toy around with broken Sternritters like Gremmy or the Soul King's heart
Which doesn't say much. Gremmy is the typical character with a power that the author can't handle. Whenever there is a villain with hax powers like that it's shit. He lost because of the author, as it always happens with characters like this.
Gerard is just a giant dude. If you want to see how "strong" Kenpachi is, picture him fighting Lille. Good luck for him, he'll need it.
Answering your question, Urahara has always been shit. Peopel hyped a character that Kubo had no intention to hype because he is a cool character. He was always "weak". He used stupid balloons against Yammy because he can't dodge, for fuck's sake. He never did ANYTHING to make peopel think he's something special. He was about to get his ass handled to him by Quilge before Grimmjow showed up. He used to be my favorite character when I was 14 and used to read Bleach for the first time. It didn't take long before I noticed he was just one pig promise that never delivers. Mayuri is better.
He's gonna fall down, grow into two even huger Gerard's, then Kira will slap him in the ankles with his sword 32 times each after finishing up with all the Lille chickens still hanging around.
Why would you consider Gremmy an invalid example and then mention Lille, who's got an even more bullshit power? Honestly, other than Nanao I don't think anyone among the good guys (including Ichigo) had the means to defeat him.
Wait a second
Did Kenpachi just turn red while his sword became pretty much an axe?
I bet all of my money and one of my balls that Gerard because he has been split into two will regrow his body on each parts basically existing two times at once. Then he will probably cry "MIRACLEEEEE" or some similar shit and Kenpachi will just continue in cutting him up, resulting in a similar/almost identical chapter finale as today.
Huh, I hadn't even noticed. I'm also somewhat confused that you were familiar enough with the kanji to recognize it even without knowing what it meant. By itself, it just means "Indigo" The name 藍染, "Aizen," reads as "Indigo Dye(r)." In-world that's likely an occupational surname, but when considering Kubo's intentions it could be a reference to Aizen's sky/heaven motif. In the case of the chapter title, it's part of 伽藍 meaning "Temple" or "Monastery" and the 伽藍堂 bit itself was translated as "Temple Hall."
Isn't The Stigma guy going to the planet's core because Kira hit him so much times that he's pressed against the ground almost breaking but then regenerating by absorving the environment but then breaking again?
Back when you first watched Bleach and it was all about that delicious first opening by Orange Range and running around the neighborhood fighting monsters what would you think if someone told you that the last arc would have a giant Thor, a giant arm/hand walking around and giant quincy chickens all in service of evil jesus?
Nig, Otetsu even says, when sending Ichigo to the human world, that he needs to learn his own heritage before he can move forward. He was amused when Renji defeated the asauchi and found his own, but then was completely floored if not massively unnerved when all the asauchi bowed to Ichigo like a fucking king.
This page basically underlines the gravity of the difference between Zaraki and Ichigo.
>Zaraki had already a sword
>Ichigo practically fought Ywach and was able to drive him away even slightly with his own power and not have his own blade break against a might that surgically divided Yamamoto using what amounts to a fake wooden sword painted black against a real forged katana is INSANE
Ichigo's always been a special, no doubt about that, but from the very beginning, Ichigo stood way way WAY higher than Zaraki. This power is pretty ridiculous for Zaraki, but still not crazy or insanely high enough.
trapped in Kubo's stupid fucking idea limbo
This would've been a little more hype if Kenpachi didn't job so hard to the hand guy (though I prefer Mayuri so I didn't really mind that) or take so much effort to beat the imagination guy (who despite his apparent strength hadn't been hyped much among the enemies so he comes off as another generic pawn).
Lille's power is "I am invincible". You can deal with characters like that by sending them away, which is what happened although with terrible consequences. Usually when characters like that make their way into a story you know they'll either steal his power or simply send him to space or something like that.
Gremmy is the "whatever i imagine happens" character. When a character like that comes along you know it's gonna be boring as fuck because the author put himself in a corner and will come up with the most ludicrous way possible to dig himself out of that hole.
In Kubo's case it was by making the character an idiot (i'll turn the bones of your arm into cookies, but not your brain or simply blow you up) and by killing off the character in a way that'll make another character seem powerful (kenpachi). Reminded me of Franklin Richards.
>I'm also somewhat confused that you were familiar enough with the kanji to recognize it even without knowing what it meant.
I'm an Aizenfag. Thank you for the explanation kind anon
Nobody could've dealt with Barragan, he was one of the first and only to have a conceptual (as opposed to concrete or physical) power. Fatass's way was probably the only way, I imagine he'd even have aged the heat from old man genocide.
>You can deal with characters like that by sending them away, which is what happened although with terrible consequences
They were only able to do that after destroying his "divine" power with Nanao's zanpakuto. Which is why even Kira was capable of taking care of the rest. Without her zanpakuto there would have been nothing they could have done.
Maybe Ichibei could have sealed his powers and maybe Aizen could have put him in some sort of perpetual hypnosis, but that's only them. The rest of the gotei 13 would have been defeated like Kyoraku.
Kubo needs to learn to scale.
Byakuya iirc was more pointing to the fact that there didn't seem to be a noticable boost in Reiatsu nor an outward expansion of power
All the bankai we've seen either boosts reiatsu or displays their power in a larger form.
Yamamoto's bankai was this tinyass charred blade but his Reiatsu was on full blast, according to him he'd burn himself to cinders if he kept it on too long.
Kensei's has this weird wind swirly thing and Gin is probably one of those exceptions since he was an epic rusemaster to the very end (I mean ffs his bankai, shikai, and asauchi forms were exactly the same, that's some next-level bullshit)
So what is Zaraki's highly-anticipated Bankai? He just gets stronger! Amazing. Such good writing, Kubo. I'm laughing my ass off.
The state Bleach is in is sad. Especially since I'm in the middle of a rewatch of Soul Society arc (just past the Toshiro x Gin confrontation). Damn, that was a good thought-out arc and not merely in terms of battles but using minor characters such as Ganju / Hanataro and actually displaying some good writing. It was also back when Ichigo still had a discernible personality. Now he's bland & generic.
M8 the guy is basically the Superstar but less of a jobber, he's literally the generic nordic hero right down to having to get the shit beaten out of him before he kills the enemy
He's fighting a demon. I highly doubt a Hero would lose to a demon.
Imagine kenpachi spinning and twisting the blade slowly to face the center of perspective.
It turns bigger... bigger... then ZOOP it's larger than his entire body. What the fuck?
Anyway, I don't think his shikai has a constant size either way--maybe I'm misremembering things but I'm quite positive his sword scales with the absorbed impact.
hahaha my theory regarding this specific panel is that Kubo either was lazy, or didn't know how to draw him lying on the ground from a perspective, so what he did was draw Ichigo as if he was observed from above, and then 'rotate' the image around X-axis with Illustrator or something (to give it the appearance of Z-axis inclination).
Ikkaku, Yumichika and Hisagi are trash tier at this point, Hisagi might be ok because >bankai but he doesn't use it for reasons unknown.
Rose was retarded.
Kensei sort of made sense, because nobody would suspect that the tiny little fucker would be able to full heal and buff Superstar just from shouting his name.
The second isn't at any kind of strange angle, sure
but now notice the proportions of his head to the hole for the knot
it should be bigger in the first image, no?
I don't even care about it from an artistic perspective because there could be a specific reason his shikai changed in size which could thematically be linked to whatever happens with his bankai
which has to be more complex because just "becoming a demon" means nothing, as then being a demon would mean "being Zaraki's bankai" since it's not a mythical zoan fruit and this isn't OP
I'm saying they're different because they are and it means this could be more interesting
I'm disagreeing with you because I'm giving Kubo the benefit of the doubt, not because I'm trying to discredit his abilities
Ikkaku has to keep fighting to reach full power, Zaraki may (because we don't have an explanation of his bankai yet) have gone complete berserker in exchange for additional power.
Doesn't seem to me like there's such a difference in complexity.
All of them have godly powers. Just think, flamingoman's power is literally 'a god I am I'm fucking invincible', and Gerard is on par with him
There's no reason for Gerard not to have a god complex, he's a match for a good number of classical gods
It makes sense. Excuse me Kubo, I shouldn't have doubted you, it is not you who has to learn scaling, but me who has to learn to read.
Still, both images are indeed of different size.
I like this.
How do you expand on that though?
Shikai = absorb power
Bankai = As Kenpachi grows stronger so does his opponent so he gets to "have fun"?
Compare the x axis in image 1 to y axis of image 2
It's pitiable you have the capacity to imagine something as trivial as a rotating 2D object.
And dare I point out that perspective or not, the width of the blade in image 2 can fit 4-5 of kenpachi's head (measured from chin to top), and the >kubo angle sword barely fits three. At the angle in which the sword is being held, as well as the perspective, a manner of stretching this bizarre shouldn't be happening. I just took the bait, didn't I.
But what about its width? We're not talking length here. Width in both images has nothing to do with Z angle.
Actually if the top part is closer to the screen, then it should look bigger. But its width looks smaller than the with on the image where its at the same depth as the body.
Also >>139744317 'Swallow' may explain it
it's "drink", not "swallow".
And anyway, at the beginnign of the fight it was bigger.
I couldn't tell if Unohana wanted Zaraki's dick or just wanted to fight him
Both of them are fightsexual freaks anyway but like, what would them fucking even look like
It's already confirmed that ichigo has never actually used bankai. His shinigami power has always been suppressed by his quincy powers.
If anything, the compression of reiatsu that made his "bankai" unique was probably just his quincy powers suppressing his massive shinigami powers.
Actually we can go full Freud
>Unohana's shikai is a nurturing womb
>bankai is a consuming womb
>Kenpachi's shikai is a BIG GIANT DICK
>Kenpachi's bankai is an all-piercing blood frenzy
I do hope that Zaraki goes berserk on his allies. Fighting is the only thing he cares for, too. It would also solve the issue of having too many shinigami left. They're going to job regardless sooner or later, but having them killed by a friendly would freshen the air a lot. Some new winds into the stagnant shounen feel of late.
He was just a skeleton of his true self.
Besides, it was an Oni skeleton.
I can see it
>Gerard brings forth an even greater power by reassembling himself again
>Proceeds to hack away the flesh from Zaraki's bones
>Spooky Scary Skeleton Zaraki
>with a spooky scary skeleton yachiru mucking about
>Tousen's biggest weakness was that he was a retard that didn't minmax.
Then again, he wasted the entire Vizard group when he was a low seated undercover officer in the 9th Squad. Plus, he never really relied all that much in his bankai.
Screencap this. Zaraki is the Reio's blood. Turning red has a precedent in this arc - gigis zambies. Unohanas bankai, zarakis blood theme...Kubo
Stop hyping up dead Yama you shitlords.
He only beat a weaker Yhwach back then.
Who cares if he had the Almighty back then, he looked way younger, and was weaker. Oetsu even stated they knew all of Yhwach's powers from 1000 years ago, but the Monk still crapped himself against Yhwach.
Stop sucking hack Kubo's dick you bleachtard.
It's obvious he's a hack and you're putting up all these defense mechanisms to defend him.
The only reason the rest of us read this is cause the ride's almost over.
>That's debunked already.
Wrong in every way.
It's all about the names and the power they hold, retard. Kenpachi pulled out his sword into shikai because of his massive reiatsu but since he didn't know its name it came out simplified and deformed.
This was directly fucking *stated* by Kubo. Came straight from the horse's mouth in the pre-arc interviews. Period. You fuckers have the memory of a fruit fly.
And Byakuya's a linear retard who's always been wrong about what makes a bankai and what doesn't. Especially with this dumbass comment about constantly released bankai.
>So the rule that Byakuya mentioend to Ichigo about bankai being big things, not something smaller than the shikai is now bullshit?
Have you somehow skipped the entire manga after Buyakuya's fight with Ichigo?
Bankai comes in many shapes, sizes and forms. Byakuya's generalization is exactly that, a generalization.
The custom of Mamemaki first appeared in the Muromachi period. It is usually performed by the toshiotoko (年男) of the household (the male who was born on the corresponding animal year on the Chinese zodiac), or else the male head of the household. Roasted soybeans (called "fortune beans" (福豆 fuku mame?)) are thrown either out the door or at a member of the family wearing an Oni (demon or ogre) mask, while the people say "Demons out! Luck in!" (鬼は外! 福は内! Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!?) and slam the door. This is still common practice in households but many people will attend a shrine or temple's Spring festival where this is done.:120 The beans are thought to symbolically purify the home by driving away the evil spirits that bring misfortune and bad health with them. Then, as part of bringing luck in, it is customary to eat roasted soybeans, one for each year of one's life, and in some areas, one for each year of one's life plus one more for bringing good luck for the year to come.
ITS FUCKING SETSUBUN. ZARAKI HATES SOYBEANS
I kind of hope that Gerard will shrink down to a more manageable size and fight Kenpachi at max power. This whole yuge YUGE power up is bullshit. Miracle my ass. Just fighting him with blut at max output should be enough. He really is just Yammy 2.0. Big and dumb.
The first arc will never be dethroned as the comfiest arc
I want a spinoff focusing on Zennosuke and the shinigami kids from the beginning of the arc running around Karakuracho routinely taking out hollows and generally being normal shinigamis compared to the overpowered speedbattles we have now.
I'd accept a 4koma, but short comedy chapters would be cool too.
We need to see all the Captainlevel Vizards' bankais
>Mashiro still missing after 2 years
