It's escapism, cant you see?

The things that please you will hurt you later in life.

Escapism is only ineffective if you're immortal.

Escapism is the act of putting off reality until later. This can only backfire if you live forever.
Just put it off until you die
>>

Atleast I'm not one of those tulpa freaks
>>
>>139733146
A guy in high school once told me his tulpa thought it was weird how I spent all my time on anime. I didn't know how to respond to that.
>>
The unrelenting irony of the internet makes me wonder how many people sincerely feel for their waifus on this place

It's all fun and games to play the role of the dubious brained borderline incoherent loser, but... come onnnn. Can't be that many, if any, right?

You're tulpa a shit.

I only became an escapist after I felt the pain of reality.
And I`m not talking about being rejected or being a beta orbiter, no. I`m talking about watching the woman you loved for 6 years suddenly go full degenerate just for the hell of it.
>>
>>139733273
>...
Stop typing like a retard.
>>
What's wrong with escapism? If it makes people happy and doesn't harm anyone else who cares?
>>
Instead of blaming the people running from society have you ever thought to blame society?
>>
>>139735210
No, that's how you get onto the slippery slope to becoming a Supervillain.
>>
>>139732806
It's only escapism if you can't get a real girlfriend so you choose 2D girl, pretend to be with her and use her to satisfy your romantic needs. But that's not even a waifu since you can't choose her.

But when you just fall in love with a 2D girl, accept and cherish these feelings, there isn't any escapism in it. It no different from gay being gay, they fall in love and live with people of the same sex but it doesn't mean it's escapism or that it will hurt them later in life.
>>
>>139735034
It's stupid and for people with serious mental instability.
>>
>>139732806
>It's escapism, cant you see?
Yes, and?

>will hurt you later in life.
The alternative is already hurting me now. It's like telling poor people they need to save up for the future when they need the money to not die now.
>>
>>139732806
Fuck off Marche
>>
>>139735034
>A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you. It’s currently unproven whether or not tulpas are truly sentient, but in this community, we treat them as such. It takes time for a tulpa to develop a convincing and complex personality; as they grow older, your attention and their life experiences will shape them into a person with their own hopes, dreams and beliefs.

I stopped taking the whole waifu thing seriously several moths ago. Waifuism is a delusion that can only be cured by growing up.

I did have a waifu. I used to tell myself we were in a relationship, went on imaginary dates, bought countless amounts of merchandise, and a whole lot of other pathetic things.

>>139735866
Some things are impossible to get so you have to pretend you have them. The "Shit in your life" has nothing to do with it.

You pretended to have a waifu, you were trying to convince yourself you have relationship with her.
If you truly had a waifu, you would be in love with her and you wouldn't had to tell yourself anything. You would just know that she is your partner and you would accept that.
Ultimately if you loved her, you would never leave her. It doesn't matter if you started thinking it's pathetic, if you loved her you would want to be with her for the rest of your life no matter what and you would never do anything that could sadden her, let alone leave her.
You didn't loved her, just used her as coping mechanism.

Escapism my ass.
If you wanna talk about escapism, the entire anime/otaku industry is based on that same principle.
It's not limited to waifus, but it's not like it's harmful either if you enjoy it.

>>139736064
You seem to be of the belief I was never in love with her. I was in love, it was just an unhealthy sort of love. Arguing doesn't seem to ever get anywhere, so I'll just end this by saying I hope your imaginary wife makes you happy. It's your decision after all.

There has been a lot of bullshit for so long, and I cant trust women because of it. Maybe other cultures are different (I doubt it, I wonder how many weebs had their dreams broken when finding asians arent very different. It's well known Japanese and Chinese women are gold diggers, adn the Thai's and Filipeno's are just after visa's), but modern western women atleast, are not trustworthy. That entire thing is rendered moot when you come to the realization that modern man has no actual need to work any more so it is no longer our nature. Someone give me that picture about the beautiful lab mice and their collapsed society.
>>
>>139742395
More like there is no NEED to do anything.

You only live once so acting like your life had some sort of purpose is just a lie society feeds people to convince them to be rats in the race. The most rational way to live is to acquire the most currency for the least work and do whatever you want with your time. You don't owe anyone anything.

At the end of life wether you worked for 40 years and had a huge family or were devoted to your waifu it doesn't matter because for you the entire universe ceases to exist when you die.

Nothing matters unless we somehow reach a singularity or biological immortality and even then all that would matter is hedonistic please or whatever you want to do.
>>
>>139742550
>At the end of life wether you worked for 40 years and had a huge family or were devoted to your waifu it doesn't matter because for you the entire universe ceases to exist when you die.
Not if you're religious.

But the atheist ending isnt a bad one. Paradise would get boring fast, and then you only have an eternity to spend there being bored.
>>
>>139742934
Christianity isn't the only option for being religious, you know.

Buddhism a best. Accumulate karma now, who knows, you might get to roll as a little girl in your next life.

But he assume life was created for some higher goal, which is not true. There is no reason or 'need' for work.
The only reason why bees goes do their 'job' is because they need food and are too stupid to create technology that will make life easier to them. If you would support them with endless food and other materials, they would no longer pollinate flowers. Same goes for NEETs, they can live without work so they live without work.
>>
>>139743028
I didnt mention Christianity, only you specified Christianity.
Plenty of religions have their own paradise.
All would bore you eventually.

Buddhism is trash. The end result is the same as atheism. Only worse, becuase atheism is easy, where Buddhism is a lot of effort.
Also you dont accumelate karma if you want a better life. Karma is what drags you down. You burn off karma now, then get a better reincarnation next time. Get too much karma and you will live a worse life, or just reincarnate as an animal or in the demon world or something shitty.

I just hate Buddhism's idea of desire being bad. Desire is motivation, it drives people to build hospitals, cure disease, climb mountains, etc. If you have no drive whatsoever (the buddhist ideal, freedom from desire), whats the point of life?
And all of that, jsut to reach the same ending as an atheist.
>>
>>139743252
>But he assume life was created for some higher goal, which is not true.
Prove it.

As a determinist, I think ou're full of shit. I cant change your mind, but we can see how X is effected by Y, everything is just a reaction from what came before. We just cant work it out due to the scale and the fact everything is constantly moving. But everything is just a reaction to what came before, and I would say everything being determined means there is more to life than we know. Even if it's meaningless, it's still something higher.
>>
But normies being slaves to 3DPD, sex, and alcohol can also be seen as escapism
>>
>>139742934
I'm an atheist (tips fedora) but Paradise is not a bad option. It's not a place, its more like a state of mind of pure happines (read: lack of desires, which, if you think about it, are the root of suffering).

Reincarnation is pure hell, living over and over again. Life can be happy, sure, but it always, with no exception, comes with suffering.

I'm fine with nothingness. After all, who wants to live forever? (Queen reference)
>>
>>139732806
How do you find a waifu?
After years and years of watching anime I still can't find one.

Simple, because life wasn't engineered or created but evolved. In specific conditions various self replicating molecules appeared and from this random process more complex life was created.
Because of how evolutionary process works and capabilities of DNA-based life, more and more complex life appeared.
Reason and goal are abstract concepts created by human, there is no such a thing in natural processes.
>I would say everything being determined
With Quantum physics we already know that there are events that cannot be determined. They are fundamentally random.

>I cant change your mind
Pfft, more like you refuse to change yours because it scares you to consider that life is meaningless. After all, that's part of the reason religion thrives. Easier to accept that things (especially bad ones) happen for a reason, than without because it implies lack of control.
>>
>>139744033
>there are events that cannot be determined.
As in we can't possibly predict them but maybe they follow a certain logic or they really are random?
But anyway, I doubt we have any control over them
>>
>>139744132
Ha, you only say that because you're not one of those people who hit rock bottom and stay there. That sort of bullshit is just privileged folks romanticizing.
>>
>>139744222
There's no logic because logic is what humans do to try and rationalize shit. The universe doesn't care about humans. They still make shit happen regardless of us existing or not. It's random but of course us humans can't accept it because it would be a scary thing. Even if we can't control them, it still act as a crutch to believe that a certain logic (that we can comprehend) exist.

But he's right.
Imagine we can quantify "hapiness" on a scale from 1="absolute suffering" to 10="absolute hapiness".
If you're accustomed to 8 then going to 9 won't feel like much. But if you go from 1 to 9 you'll cum buckets. It's that transition from 1 to 9 that feel so good, not the 9 itself.

There are event where there is limited amount of possible outcomes, but there is no way to predict which will happen, no matter how much you know about the universe. Like electrons usually are in probability cloud until you make measurement. In the moment of measurment, their wave function collapse and it's unpredictable where their position will be, no matter how much information you have. You can only calculate probability of result in given range. This fact makes it logical but nondeterministic.

>>139744312
Actually there is logic in the universe.
