The only problem with the current translation is in the later parts where the translator couldn't figure out what the fuck people were saying and was just going with guesses that turned out really shit. The action is just the same and some of the dialog makes sense and then you get to things like Giorno talking about conciousness when he wasn't saying anything like that.

He was actually talking about Mista making the path to victory and it's actually a compelling moment in Giorno's character. Before this part, Giorno is trying to be this beacon and guiding everyone else in the group. He (and Bruno) are the guys with the plan and he's trying to build up the trust he has with the others. When the White Album fight happens, Giorno screws up, BIG TIME and he's actually panicking and doesn't know what to do because this is the first time that his stand has been completely useless. It's MISTA that plays the big damn hero, he's the one with the plan, he makes the badass plays and gets Girono to make the grass carpet so he can get onto land. He's the one that figures out the air hole and Girono simply capitulates on it and finishes what Mista started and it's when Girono finally realizes that he can't just simply rely on himself and be this pillar for the others, he needs to learn to trust them too, that they can do the job and are just as capable as he is.

It's an amazing moment that is completely ruined by a shit translation and part of why people seem to think that Girono is this flat emotionless character that only exists to move the plot forward.

Notice that after this, Girono doesn't try to just take the lead on anything anymore, he always asks the others for their opinion, or if they can do things and he teams up and works together instead of just going ahead and doing something and thinking "Man, I'm such a badass, the others are probably really impressed"

The main reason is because Jolyne isn't a typical female protagonist, they thought she was really 'improper' and not in a cool way like Jotaro. And they thought her power was really gross for some reason. They also dislike the fact that Jotaro dies, and that his daughter hates him. A lot of nips can't into subtext and hate Jolyne simply because she didn't love her dad straight off the bat. Also they don't like the crew. To be fair, they don't get much time to interact given how, even during slow bits, Stone Ocean is always advancing the plot and doesn't have that much filler.

It boils down to not being able to project onto Jolyne because she's a chick and being the exact opposite of what they'd want out of a woman. Part 6 is more liked elsewhere because there isn't as much of that autistic devotion to Jotaro-sama amongst the fanbase and you don't have to fap to someone for them to be a good character (but if you don't fap to Jolyne then I think you're gay).
