Wait until Aikatsu Zero which will chronicle Mizuki's rise to fame until her first big concert at Starrise Stadium where she notices a certain soft-shelled turtle in the audience...
My favorite part about it is that it airs right before Aikatsu! Plus+, a spinoff starring Noelle and the DreAcas.
That's not a protagonist list, aho. Also it's missing some.
A grimdark reboot that follows JAV idol Ran, hikikomori idol journalist Aoi and happily married bento shop owner Ichigo watching over new idols, each with very different views on the subject.

Thanks. i guess that's okay since I can barely take time to play photokatsu.
Looks like the blessings of Kii are telling me to play this game more often.
Still have seven open squares on the joint coloring project. Physical coloring is preferred, but digital is fine if you don't have access otherwise. If you're going to do a digital coloring, please put effort into it. I don't want to reject squares, but you shouldn't submit point and click fill square. Try different brushes and techniques, and make something fun and unique!
Zip file with squares: https://mega.nz/#!f8ZQBQzC!UWFDx1nrAF1XVnPgitbG2XVg56fyQlpXLQTdm6a1fZU
That's fine. /pc/ doesn't seem to want to join in, and we have more squares than we probably have anons who have crayons/markers/pens/pencils.
Also, forgot to say C1 I love the background on your square! Did you use gel pens?
It is but you also get nice things.
Thanks! Yes I used gel pens for everything except the yellow. I just used a colored pencil for that. With our first group coloring project the yellow gel pen I used showed up as white on my scanner so I had to find another way.
Digital is fine, just take your time with it.
I want Ichigo to sit on my face.
Sorry in advance.
Why is Ichigo winking so much?
I won't be able to watch the 1st episode of Stars, but I was able to watch the last one. Have fun watching it /ai/ hopefully the thread won't explode and reach the

There, everything done. Forget watching Stars live, I'll see it in the morning. Enjoy, and be sure to "watch" the Drama CD too.
Thank you so much!
All your hard work throughout the entirety of Aikatsu is very much appreciated.
That looks great anon, good job!
Thank you for all your hard work, Akatsukin/Mezashite. You're the best.
I want to nap but last week I tried doing that and I ended up falling asleep for the rest of the night.
>none of the girls I've come to cherish after almost 200 episodes
>Do you prefer PriPara to Pretty Rhythm?
I prefer both. PR was a masterpiece and very difficult to top, and PP went in a completely different direction anyways.
Aikatsu was great and cute and all but not a masterpiece like PR. Stars could definitely end up being better at what Aikatsu did.
Also, being the first doesn't mean it's the best. I'm sure that way of thinking is considered fallacious.
Aurora Dream is rough at the beginning but if you manage to sit through it, it gets so good towards the end. I was very close to dropping it my first time watching it and I'm very glad I stuck with it.
>yfw Stars ends up having shit CG for the first dozen episodes
I thought I could stay up and watch Stars, but now I'm not so sure.
Good night everyone, I look forward to reading your walls of text once I wake up.
I just want you all to know that I love you.
In case Stars kills me.
I respect your shit taste.
So basically the same Aikatsu but with new characters, a boy which will probably fall off the edge of the planet by the end of the first season, and do I detect the presence of some plot?
More like in my shoujo anime. I usually like it but not in Aikatsu.
Will Koharu keep her glasses on in concerts?
So I was right to ignore everyone claiming it wouldn't be Aikatsu! because all of that was exactly like something out of the original. Now to wait for subs. Roller is in fact best girl though.
Random musings for those who can't wait
Let's see here. The beginning, two things I noted. One, The Excitement Reader System has become the most Gaudy thing I've ever seen. Doesn't it hurt their head being that big?!
Second, Hime is not really into Choreography. The stage did some exciting stuff, and Hime's Aura was Odayaka Ja Nai. Still it gave me a less than favorable impression. The CG Leveled up in general though!
Koharu is a good girl and Yume is a cute. She does have a little spunk, but I REALLY need context as to what the fuck she was doing before the Commercial Break. Also according to the Kami-sama No Galge, she is totally on route for that dude. That was a pretty blatantly obvious thing Johnny's Replacement is... Alright. By herself in another Dimension she'd be best girl right away. Here, she's just pretty much putting Johnny and Tiara together. Excellent combo, but too obvious. Stage Dress Set up! BIG Improvement, much more Dynamic! I really liked it. Yume's Performance: Overall, better than Hime's Yume has a little spirit in the song. I was also weirded out by how Yume's Aura and stage mod powers rivaled Hime's there. A little excessive, and she pulled herself a SPECIAL APPEAL. Then pulled the most awesome way to get yourself noticed! I started laughing, the fuck I am. I did however hear "Is that Really a First Year?" I hope it wasn't because she pretty much pulled an Ichigo, but we'll see. The Ending: You can (not) call it Aikatsu style. We've gone to Pretty Rhythm levels of WUBING. The song itself was fine, it was just not what you'd expect from an Aikatsu ending.
Final Verdict: Let's see how it goes, it made no critical errors, but Yume might be a little too OP,
Unless of course, she went beyond her limits due to some circumstance and won't go back to that level for a while.
>I REALLY need context as to what the fuck she was doing before the Commercial Break.
She climbed on top of a tree to shout at Hime and get noticed by her, but the S4 left by car in the meantime.
I've amused the idea of writing a silly story about idols, but I don't know if I really want to.
This girl suddenly drops from a tree into your lap.
What will you do?
>There won't be boy drama guys!
>LOL Just because there a boys doesn't mean there won't be boy drama
>Dude you can't tell if there's gonna be boy drama just from the PV's we've had
Fucking rekt. That one part with Yume and Sena2.0 in the PV's was boy drama to a T.
>Doesn't look like Aikatsu
>Doesn't feel like Aikatsu
>Boring characters so far
>Shitty OP song
I knew this is what would happen. I wouldn't be nearly as mad if they'd just called it AiPara or something instead of Aikatsu. Because this certainly isn't Aikatsu.
>There are people who denied this was Boy drama
It's really not. The music isn't, the atmosphere isn't, the art style isn't, the characters aren't. The only thing this has in common with Aikatsu is there are idols and the name.
boy drama best drama
I'll reserve full judgement until subs I guess but for now I'm just really not feeling it. It could be just because it's all new but something just seems really off. The CG especially, as visually good as it looks it's like there's something weird going on with the faces and that's really distracting
Yeah, I noticed that with the CG too. Yume's twintails also looked really weird, although I'm not a fan of how they look in 2D either. The CG will probably get better like it has before, they're probably just getting used to the new style.
Next we'll have boy performances.
Then boy subplots and relationships.
Then boy merchandise.
KING OF AIKATSU 2019 HYPE
Man, Shugo Chara was amazing.
They'd perfected it with Aikatsu but now they have to start again with a new art style, just not from square 1.
I'm going to miss this art so much. It was perfect. The BD covers always looked gorgeous with it.
Yeah hopefully it won't take them too long to fix all the issues up.
Yeah it's really a pity that they went and changed the art style so much, I would've been okay if they just rebooted the franchise but at least kept that the same.
I love the Aikatsu character design so much. Yagucho Hiroko is a genius.
>nekkid S4 in the ED
>catgirl Yuzu next ep
>mfw I am suddenly part of the target audience
I can't say I didn't enjoy it, other than the boy drama at least, but as has already been said it's most definitely not Aikatsu, and that's what's really keeping from fully getting into it.
I'm sure I'll warm up to it after a few episodes, but for now it just seems like they're trying too hard to appeal to the big friend audience to me.
I liked it. I don't have this strict notion about what Aikatsu should or shouldn't be so I'm enjoying the new things. I had my fill of Aikatsu's exact structure with the previous series, I'm excited about new things. I didn't feel like it wasn't Aikatsu like some others did, it had all the stuff I personally expect from it.
What a faggot
Can't wait for love triangles and shitty boy drama that worked out so great for HapiCha, amirite
Protip: the rivalry will be 95% over the boy, mark my words
I could give less of a fuck about het.
I only start caring when it ends up into cheap love triangles that take away focus from everything else and the D becomes more important than idoling itself.
I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't exactly impressed either.
Things that annoyed me :
>johny bepp clone
>not only the new moe moe artstyle, but the MC is super moe moe
Cant really pick out anything good, I'll give it 2-3 more episodes, but I could really take or leave it.
Is it Sumire bullying season?
isnt it always?
Even if Sumire werent a boring shit, she would be compared unfavorably to Yurika every time and I still wouldnt like her
Whoa this is totally different! Getting the bad stuff out of the way first, the CG looked to be a step back. Like Aikatsu it's similar to the 2D art, which is good, but the expressions feel a tiny bit overdone, and the movements are kind of robotic and too sharp.
But everything else, man. I can't wait to scroll down and see what everyone says about the very first scene being Yume bumping into a random guy, and not only that the PV scene was this episode too with her falling straight on that male idol, who as it turns out goes to the attached male idol division. Wow, this is gonna be something.
The school itself too feels way more like a high-class and proper school, with S4 traveling in limos instead of the vans of Starlight. The way they're treated too is way beyond anything Mizuki or Ichigo ever got. Not only that, but did you notice? The girls aren't even idols yet, they're "kenkyuusei", or training students. That means a lot less outside recognition until they make it to a higher level. That might be when they get their upgraded uniforms.
The sidles were super animated, which is promising. Laura's totally not what I thought with her going through the window, but her rivalry was already set up nicely in how Yume can't deal well with her.
Songs were all pretty good, especially the ED. And the concerts changed too, with how auras look and appeals work. I like it, it's very fresh. And their transformation was fucking amazing, I think they outdid the original with that jumping.
And then that ending, holy crap. We don't fully understand how it works yet, but Yume apparently did something so amazing that she was called the beginning of a legend, and then she didn't even remember a second of it. I think the lore runs much deeper this season than before. Plus, the Headmaster is FUCKING JIN voiced by none other than our Chef Yotsuba.
This looks really different and really exciting. It's too early to say for sure, but I think this will be a good successor to Aikatsu.
Good morning, senpai! It's okay, but I liked it better when you posted every day.
I only post if senpai posts.
I'm not that senpai though.
I really liked the first episode, the dress-up sequence is fun now, everything really gives a different vibe and I'm fine with it, the ending was pretty great too, though I can already feel Koharu becoming super irrelevant unless she becomes like Sumire into an "Um!" machine, or she has some kind of change in her personality in performance or something.
I liked it a lot too.
>and the movements are kind of robotic and too sharp.
Indeed, it has always been like that but this time was more awkward.
I agree, it really feels like I'm watching news.
>the Stage Diary segments never really felt like a good replacement for Aikatsu Aphorism
Those were pretty cheap if you ask me, and a lot of people I know just skipped them.
>protecting her modesty from a boy
Is it even necessary? I thought the skirts in Aikatsu were magic skirts.
As I suspected, the art is super cute in motion.
They are, he was just fucking with her. Also I hope people haven't forgotten Hinaki was in fact the first pervert to talk about seeing panties under skirts.
I'm not picking on you, it's just you said 'boy drama' most recently so I'm using your post.
I realized why that phrase just makes me mad. More than the inherent tone of "boys = bad in mah idol anime", it's the idea that a single concept can make people hate without proper judgement. Ideas and potential storylines are just nebulous things, with the possibility of being good or bad. But here, this subset of people have decided that they won't like it no matter what. It just baffles me, it's not consistent with my worldview to give everything a fair chance, especially since something as innocuous as anime can't possibly do you any harm.
It's like the people saying it's not Aikatsu at all. It is. Cute girls striving to be idols at an idol school, taking different lessons and auditions, making friends and competing with each other in a world where technology exists for the sole purpose of making idol shows amazing. Besides, if it was a carbon copy then nobody would like it, it would just be inferior. This way it's both the same at its core but with different flavors to keep it interesting.
Plot twist will be that the Aikatsu System gives you cancer.
>Tfw like boy drama
>Love Shugo Chara, Mermaid Melody, Sailor Moon, Pretty Rhythm, even shit like Tokyo Mew Mew
>See it in Aikatsu
>Scared for my life
It's a shame it went down this route.
Do you think I feel this way because I want too anon? Do you think I intentionally go out of my way to dislike boy drama in Aikatsu? I just can't help it.
It's like you don't even know me at all. I'm sad.
Precure is something entirely different though. Since almost it's inception it's been having completely different yearly series with only one or two that got follow ups. Aikatsu on the other hand established itself as something unique for almost 200 episodes then got torn down and had everything changed. It just shouldn't be called Aikatsu. It's like if PriPara was called Pretty Rhythm Pretty or something.
Pretty much. People have expectations for different things. I see boy drama in Jewelpet or Pretty Rhythm? I could care less. That has always been there and have been staples of those series.
In Aikatsu? It has never been part of the franchise until now. We are only starting to get this after 4 seasons of the franchise setting a particular tone. What's so strange about being weirded our, annoyed or reluctant about it? It's a very normal reaction. That it is an actual reboot does not help either because everything is changing one way or another despite the core concept of "idols" still being there.
How can there be people who can say with a straight face that Stars is the exactly the same as the Aikatsu that just ended is just beyond me. You have to be either very dense or just purposely blind so you can act like a contrarian asshole.
>no-one linked the new Mezashite subs for the Aikatsu Drama CD and the Music Awards
I'm gonna worry about boy drama when it actually happens. Yume falling on top of that dude doesn't technically mean that the boy drama is gonna be a focus or overbearing. I know this is kind of wishful thinking but I don't want those expectations to ruin the rest of the show, which I thought was pretty good.
The anons are right.
>How can there be people who can say with a straight face that Stars is the exactly the same as the Aikatsu that just ended is just beyond me.
Not everyone in these threads likes Aikatsu in the first place.
This isn't coming out of nowhere either. In S1 they made a point of Ichigo saying the old adage of "romance is forbidden for idols" and Naoto saying he has no interest in them. But in S2 Orihime says she finds it acceptable to love so long as you're dedicated. In S3 Kokone is an obsessive fan of Yotsuba and Akari becomes the closes idol to her top designer Sena, and in S4 says that he gives her the wings to fly higher. Now the idols are interacting with male idols, it's just the logical progression that's been built up this whole time.
Same. I'm slightly annoyed to see this kind of post: >>139746584
>Not everyone in these threads likes Aikatsu in the first place.
I loved Aikatsu to death but I'm fine with things being changed up some. It's still Aikatsu to me from what I've seen.
I don't worry. The boy will turn out to be Yume's long lost half-brother. In heartbreak she will spend an episode climbing mountains and realize her true love was Roller all along.
Maybe I misinterpreted your post. I took it as meaning that everyone who doesn't acknowledge Stars as considerably different from Aikatsu must be someone who didn't like Aikatsu in the first place. Is that not what you meant?
Spoiler for Jewelpet Sunshine's ending (same writer):
Romantic interest turned out to be MC's brother. They break it off. Brother becomes a furry and runs off with Ruby, Kanon never recovers and becomes a cake.
I didn't complain one bit when Sena was introduced because from the start Sena never represented any sort of boy drama. Boy Idols like this in a series that never had them before, that smug look in the PV, this episode, it all points to proper boy drama.
I was really happy to have a couple little girl series without it for once. It was a nice change, not that I dislike boy drama in other stuff to begin with. But now Aikatsu is just becoming the same as everything else. Sad, really.
To me more than the fact that it's a boy, or boy drama, or whatever, is that I can already tell I won't like this boy. I pretty much never like his character archetype, especially as a romantic interest.
I liked Sena, he was cool and I really enjoyed how his and Akari's relationship developed throughout S3 and S4, but this is different.
I actually liked Sena because he brought something to the table that was completely unrelated to romance. He goals, dreams, motivation and personality. I fucking loved seeing him with Akari because there zero sexual tension between them. They were just bros sharing a dream together. They had amazing chemistry without either wanting each other ponos or vagoo.
That's the difference between someone like Sena and this fuccboi. Sena was a character, this guy was created only for the purpose of romance and drama.
>They were just bros sharing a dream together.
That never stopped people from wanting them to be a couple, same way people wanted the girls to be with other girls even though they were good friends only.
No, you're really projecting what you think he'll be right now. You liked Sena because he had dreams and aspirations? So why do you think our guy goes to an idol school of his own, just to fuck around? No, he clearly has goals of his own to be famous, spread love, or whatever else. Stop assuming.
>That never stopped people from wanting them to be a couple, same way people wanted the girls to be with other girls even though they were good friends only.
And what's your point? Shippers are irrelevant and have no effect on the series no matter how much they delude themselves.
That people might see things in other light, like how Sena said he wanted to make a wedding dress for Akari, one might think is because he loves her while others might think he's gonna continue making dress for her till she retires.
I was referring to Mugino, who's obviously been the one behind every post mentioning "shoehorned boy drama" without bothering to give reasons why it's bad. Mugino is a huge /u/fag whose entire reason for hating Sena is because his existence endangered the Akari X Sumire headcanon.
Every other post in /aikatsu/ was people bitching about Sena and how it was going to ruin Aikatsu.
I'm not denying that, but there was a huge uproar about Sena at the beginning of season 3.
I thought I had read in promotional material that the M4 were from a different school, but they're also from Yotsuboshi instead. Maybe it was just a misunderstanding or an inaccurate translation.
I was just going to corraborate that, it only reaches around July 2015. But it doesn't take a genius to understand that besides SHiN being indifferent, there was an overarching feeling of hating men on the basis on their gender..
I thought they've imported the old database. Oh well.
I think I'll survive Stars just fine.
>there was an overarching feeling of hating men on the basis on their gender
It were one or two fags. Me, shin and that one anon were fine with Sena.
Please don't remind me.
I'm sorry you had to put up with it. I, too, tried to go to both threads during that time, but there was just far too much hate for me to stand. On this medium it's unfortunately not the number of people with each opinion that matters, it's how much they post. It's everyone's responsibility to make sure thread quality is good.
And then there's you adding nothing at all and thinking yourself so smart by aggregating the opinions going on and complaining about how those opinions are so shit.
Heads up, you don't look smarter by looking down on everyone else.
in that case, I WANT TO MARRY HIME
>If this place is going to be like /pc/ I'd rather leave
>Then go back to /pc/ you retard
Anon, If they wanted to be in /pc/ I don't think they'd want to leave /ai/ if it became like /pc/ then.
>or thought Stars was similar to Aikatsu in your opinions
that's not an opinion. it is objectively similar to aikatsu with only a few minor differences. you only think it's massively different because you've become accustomed to aikatsu being extremely formulaic and safe.
