I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to. Generic shounen isn't usually my thing, but this has a lot of elements that suit my personal shit taste. Benio is like a conglomeration of all my favorite generic heroine traits:

-Kuudere
-Long black hair with straight bangs
-Old-fashioned, Shouwa period looking black serafuku
-Kitsune mask
-High black stockings with ZR only visible under long skirt (pic related)

I like the Shinto/Nip folklore based setting too. I'll definitely stick with it unless it completely turns to shit, but the first episode was pretty good. Animation was not great looking, but it wasn't completely horrible and was fairly fluid. I like how the sketchy artstyle of the exorcist world and enemies contrasts with the super clean, stylized character designs and normal world backgrounds. Music and sound were decent.

Benio doesn'y have a cowardly fire fox/choker thing. Her fight in Magano before meeting Rokuro was never shown, she just falls out of the sky, though it said later she was fighting in Magano. When Rokuro tried to save her he ended almost drowning and he need to be saved, which might still be in the show given Rokuro thanked her. Her fight with the big impurity at the end was a lot more onesided, with the dent being all she could do.

Other than that though it was pretty spot on, oh and Roku was buying soy sauce when he met Benio, it's a small joke because he needed to buy it twice since the first bottle ended up in the river

Because while it does have cliches/tropes, it's actually got a pretty deep and intriguing story under the surface (most casuals wouldn't catch on since they know nothing about Arthurian Legends and British mythology. Just think about it. Using her guarding powerup Benio barely managed to fight back Gigano. She only destroyed one of his legs and passed out. Gigano could have killed her then but decided to spare her.

Now Rokuro is about to solo Hijirimaru, who is far stronger than Gigano according to the Basara power scale. And on that top of that Hijjirimaru just got a powerup of his own, so right now he's like 5x as strong as Gigano if not more. If Rokuro can keep up with him, and he will, that shows that he's a lot stronger than Benio. He's on a whole different level that she is.

Rokuro took Yuuto's arm, just like Benio took Gigano's leg. But Hijirimaru is far stronger, and if Rokuro manages to keep up with him, that means he's way stronger than Benio right now.
