Why did this turn to haremshit after the first arc? Give me my seriousness from Orcus back.
Story unorganized, harem shit pandering, terrible slice of life attempts, terrible character progression, uninteresting dialogue, hypocritical mc. It was never even proofread.
At least the grills r cute
why would you want to do this?
Shameless rabbit only good for her tits. The only girl other than Yue I liked was Miledi.
Got interested in isekai stuff again after Re:Zero and didn't want something that had hardly anything translated. The reunion chapters were nice but after that I couldn't take it anymore.
Well, have you ever tried reading the Chinese stuff that's been translated? There's actually a shitload of reincarnation/spirited away to other world/vrmmorpg shit that's been TLed.
As for japanshit you've listed most of the main ones. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that you're missing is hachinan tte, but that one is sort of awful. And by sort of I mean very.
Kouritsu Kuriya Madoushi, Daini no Jinsei de Madou o Kiwameru is a rebirth, but there's only 20-30 chapters TLed and the TLer quit.
>I've seen some stuff on Wuxiaworld, what are the good ones?
What kind of stuff are you into? Right now I'm enjoying True Martial World on gravity translations but I've read most of what is available out there.
>but they can't end up worse than Arifureta.
Hachinan tte is much worse. Literally the worst WN i've ever read.
Best bet is probably true martial world.
A lot of people would recommend ISSTH on wuxiaworld, but I personally don't like it that much.
If you ask about a specific series I could probably tell you more about it. So far I'm familiar with:
Against the Gods
Wu Dong Qian Kun
Battle through the heavens
Martial God Asura
The Great Ruler
Tales of demons and gods
God and Devil World
True martial world
world of cultivation
I shall seal the heavens
a record of a mortal's journey to immortality
Upgrade specialist in a new world
CD is pretty nice initially, but then goes to crap about halfway through. Sort of like Arifureta.
I'd say it all goes downhill after he resolves all his conflicts on the Yulan continent and
ascends to the next realm
Martial god asura is like the mcdonalds of the xianxia genre. It has a little bit of everything, not very good but still tasty from time to time.
If you're new to the genre you'd probably enjoy reading both, at least to the halfway point at least.
TMW is superior to both of the above though, and it's still going strong atm (~chapter 350)
Why the hell does Nagumo want to return to nipland for when he could live like a magical emperor king in this new world?
I could imagine wanted to go back for a visit, but permanent relocation?
Why does Tio even exist in the story. Why the fuck doesn't he give shia the D?
>Hey dont forget Duoluo Dalu or Long Live Summons that at least tries to give characterization to not-mc characters
I only listed the ones that I personally read.
The DD manhua gave me cancer so I don't evern plan to pick up any of his works.
Which ones have the best lolis?
Lolis aren't very prolific in chinknovels, and when they do use the term loli, it usually just refers to a small teenage (14-16) yo girl.
The chinks seem to think that only when women are like 22-28 do they truly become beautiful. Why do they think this? Beats me.
Most of the stuff I listed has girls in the 14-17 yo age though
>Konjiki no Wordmaster is worth checking.
Not much better than arifureta imo.
Less harem-esque, but more shitty typical shounen-y progressions. I think the TL for this is halted as well, no?
>The DD manhua gave me cancer so I don't evern plan to pick up any of his works.
The chinese series manhua give everyone cancer, the story is nothing like it, you are probably missing out
>The chinese series manhua give everyone cancer, the story is nothing like it, you are probably missing out
The endless tourney arcs + spirit food kills it for me. I'm assuming these are still in the novel, no?
Who cares? People are mostly reading for cute and sexy vampire loli getting fucked every night, anyways.
The only important spirit food is Oscar´s which is only a sausage(not other food variations just sausage), and there is only one big tourney which is pretty much in any other chinese story
Character development I guess, there is set of characters aside the mc that get nice developments and their relationship goes further than just left behind in the story named characters
It's complete but the author is telling epilogue chapters like there was 5 years later story that was about Myuu meeting friends she had made over the internet.
There is some fun stuff in the epilogues like Endo's story about
his relationship with one of the rabbit girls from Shia's tribe and overcoming an impossible task to be with her. He had to conquer one of the dungeons alone and fight Hajime and land a clean good blow against him.
From the first arc I thought it'd be more of him eating all the demons he kills to power up and adventuring in dungeons, while being an edgy fuck to everyone but his vampire loli.
Because they don't actually read the story, they just read what other people said about it and joined in the complaining. Just like all the people that thought it was a revenge story when Hajime never made any comments about wanting revenge.
Yes but there's no new chapters so the translator has nothing to do.
Shia's development might have looked instant but it really lasted something like 60 or 70 chapters. She changed a lot from when she joined compared to how she was around the capital city arc. Tio got better too as she got more development like in the ice dungeon.
That obvious doesn't happen in night literally. But, yeah but only for the vampire loli. The series have some merits like MC winning the best girl whom he waifu with enthusiasm, though there's still a harem and stuff. The concept is interesting too, but the execution gets pretty bad later on, like fanfic tier kind.
Vampire loli ends up aged to looking 17 compared to her original 12-13 self during the final battle. Of course that's not really a big deal since even before final battle they got transformation magic and could change how they look but I believe it mentioned that she ended up sticking with the older looking body for the most part to look Hajime's age.
Doesn't he end up fucking his entire harem by the end? After he spent pretty much all of the translated chapters talking about how he only loved Yue, if it's true it's a huge turn off.
Some crazy shit happens before the final battle and Hajime decides to go full demon lord and he accepts the other girls that like him because of what happened there.
In the epilogue of the story he introduced his parents to his
8 wives. Yue, Shia, Tio, Kaori, Remia, Shizuku, Liliana, and Aiko.
There was a decent reason for him accepting the rest of them. Shia got accepted beforehand though, he accepted her before the tree dungeon and they had sex after the tree dungeon.
Japtem wasn't translating it, just hosting it. Anyway lead up to final battle started chapter 154 and end of story / epilogue was 179. Since then there's been various epilogue chapters about various characters and what happened to them after the story and returning to Japan and stuff.
For example the hero idiot decided to stay in fantasy world to atone for being an idiot and ended up disappearing by being summoned to a different world.
The God guy possessed Yue and took her body as its vessel. Then using Yue's body it trashed Hajime every which way using her spells just powered up to 11. Then it broke all his artifacts and left. Hajime ended up snapping pretty hard off the deep end and it was the combined effort of all the girls and Myuu that brought him back.
At that point he basically just didn't feel like keeping denying their feelings for him anymore. Yue was still the uncontested number 1 though.
Not really? Last I looked translations were around 130 and had been stuck there for like 3 months and there's been like months between each release. Some RtD translator was looking at picking it up so maybe the story will finally get finished up.
>Volume 1 was good.
True, but that applies to any Yue centric volumes, really.
Bad story. Pretty much an asspull how the Vampire Loli was introduced.
Some fodder were able to go down all the way to Dungeon Level 80 just to lock up a vampire loli yet the author never explained how the fuck did they modify someone else's dungeon that repairs itself after a while so some fodder modifying a dungeon to lock a loli up would eventually have the dungeon revert back to its original state and don't give me any bullshit how any fodder from Yue's time period had magic power capable of surpassing one of the World Heroes.
Author just wanted to force his shit loli vampire taste on the readers which he never stopped doing for the rest of the story.
The volume 1 added side story is all about the month they spent living in Oscar's home at the bottom of Orcus. Kind of a frequent joke it mentions how Hajime tried to "win" in the "battles" against Yue but kept losing.
Well shit, I remember reading this series forfuckingever ago.
The first dungeon has a fantastic narrative and direction, it was satisfying.
But then the OP as fuck MC just steamrolls and collects girls.
Sure equally OP opponents are added later so there's a reason for drama to still exist, but it just quickly loses its charm when MC has access to pocket dimensions batman would be proud of.
I think I would have preferred MC gang turning into the "villains" of the story instead of the classmates reconciling.
No use denying it. The author blew it by going harem route out of nowhere after having cleared Yue route for OTP.
out of nowhere
That's my issue. Hajime spends so much of the novel rejecting everyone repeatedly and saying Yue is special and will be his only lover no matter what.
The implied sex and her special status kept me reading even though more and more girls appeared and the story wasn't as good as Vol 1 and his Vol 1 character development started unwinding.
Learning that the author will suddenly go harem end made me lose all interest in the story.
His volume 1 character development started unwinding because in volume 1 the main character had cracked and gone insane. His development in the further arcs was all about him re obtaining parts of his old humanity and not being so dependent mentally on Yue. Of course that didn't fair too well since when
he lost her he still broke pretty damn gigantically.
Orcus and Miledi were good. The volcano and underwater ones didn't seem threatening any more and a lot of the tension was lost because the harem members kept making passes at him.
>she ended up sticking with the older looking body
Well that was a fuck up
Mushoku Tensei was my first. I know it's basically babby's first isekai but it was fun as hell.
I don't know why I don't mind the harem in that at all, but hate Arifureta for it.
Aiko from LN art for relevance.
I tried to get into it but after the first arc (with roxy) the story got more and more boring and couldn't read through the adventurer arc.
it didn't help that the author's writing was particularly bad, even for a webnovel.
you might then like Gunota ga Mahou Sekai ni, it has a lot of similarities with mushoku tensei
I liked the later arcs a lot. Everything after the teleport labyrinth, especially the
diary and stuff with Orstedwas exciting.
Did his nip fans want NTR? He should have made a plan, the first dungeon was the best. It was the only one that seemed like it was designed to train challengers to get stronger with monsters getting tougher per level.
With the others (at least the ones I've read) you already had to be OP to survive.
I don't think so? Talking about other story translations, I wish Bookworm translations were faster.
I like it quite a lot as well. At least it has a fixed release schedule so you know when to expect the next update.
Your taste is bad and you should feel bad. That aside, you are clearly reading the wrong series. Arifureta was intended to have romance and harem elements from the start. It did fairly fine those fronts until the author screwed that up near the end.
So far it seems like it won't be pulling any bullshit like the MC suddenly inventing a printing press or some other shit.
It also focuses quite a lot on the hygiene standard from back then which the MC is slowly starting to fix in her household.
Books are too expensive to get for her. Damn, even a sheet of paper costs as much as her fathers whole monthly wage.
As I spoiled myself a bit with the manga raw, she's trying to make paper herself, but isn't really being successful.
Basically, it's cute and different.
If it helps, she also extremely sickly and comes down very often with a fever.
Like over here, finally she's able to write something, and, the weak constitution strikes.
>Oh btw it's been a few months since last chapter and I've doubled my level
>Oh it's been 6 months since I last showed up and I'm now higher level than most people in the world
Just fucking stupid.
> Hey, I'm so fucking edgy and badass that I barely interact with people!
> Hey, I want something in return and act like a total asshole with no development for 600 chapters and last arc I become a generic hero that sacrifices himself to fight against the final boss. While at that, I gained a loli harem!
Are you fucking serious? It is just as worse if not, more than Arifureta with it's ending.
Yea I feel ya. I generally dislike harem too but it didn't make me cringe in Mushoku Tensei. I feel as though despite some illogical stuff and decisions here and there.... the execution was just plain better there unlike the other series in the same genre.
No, the harem execution was horrible in MT as well.
Eris turned shit tier after the harem and she was reduced to making a V shaped mouth for the rest of the story and just going Hmph with barely any dialogue that lasts more than two sentences afterwards.
Antihero is fun in the way that the MC can honestly do whatever he wants. The only reason he doesn't just fuck shit up is because he doesn't want to bother the rest of the world
Yea that was one of the aspects I really disliked about it. But how many series do you know that do the harem how MT does with wives, children, family. Basically a REAL harem and everything. I wish more authors grew balls and experimented like that, It was on one of the more unique takes on the genre I feel like. Despite what you said and I do agree with it, overall the execution was still much better than other harem series(talking only about japanese ones). Well I guess you could say it doesnt have much competition since there arent many real harem series like that. You know just your usual average highschool battle harems or arifureta tier cringefests, and then theres Re:Monster which is not even a story but terribly written diary.
To be fair, MT had the advantage of being a story that spanned over 20 years. Most battle harems take place in highschool, where the idea of getting married and having kids isn't really valid. I did like what MT did though and agree that more authors should experiment
It's like asking why more romance series don't show the couple after highschool. The setting just doesn't allow it.
A lot of reincarnation stories have the flaw that they usually skip huge portions of the characters new life or that they fill the characters life with training for the sake of training. To be fair to Rudy he had a reason he was training at least, that's not always there in reincarnation stories.
Can't remember the name of it but I tried some reincarnation story and the story basically in like a few chapters went from death -> reincarnation -> back to being a teenager like they were before they died. All I could think of was why bother even making a reincarnation story.
It's pretty good, the fact that all the girls want to fuck the MC is pretty damn annoying though. Even the Goddess though it's questionable how true that is.
I dropped everything you stated halfway so it might not be a good recommendation.
But Dragon Maken War has been a good read so far for me.
Another one on top of my head are Kamigoroshi no Eiyuu to Nanatsu no Seiyaku,
Right, I do see your point now that you brought that up. I guess it does depend on the setting and type of story you wanted to write from the very begining too.
Probably bringing in "foreign" elements to the story could actually make it worse if you dont know what you're doing. I also think thats the reason there are so many copy pasted series.
>the fact that all the girls want to fuck the MC is pretty damn annoying though
i felt like the main character having a harem wouldn't really fit the story with his personality and thought that the goddess
or elmenhildeor maybe any type of older woman to be exact to be the only ones that should be romantically interested in him
i kind of dropped it when it went into those harem hijinks chapters
It's not really that different from most of the other reincarnation haremshit. It's just slightly better. The MC reminds people of the MC from Kaze no Stigma, so that probably helps its popularity a bit.
Did you even read Kaze no Stigma? Kazuma's whole backstory was he was a peerless edgelord just like Nagumo after they killed his girlfriend; he acted pretty much the same way until he made his contract with the wind lord, after which he mellowed out a bit, then finally regained some normality once his brother and Ayano came into the picture.
In fact I am pretty sure the author received messages about it, since the only reason I made the connection at all was because he said something about it in one of the little "author notes" in one of the WN chapters.
>I remember a while back just the title alone in a WN thread would crap ton of reply saying it was shit...
You mean autists spew random buzzwords?
>muh mary sue
>muh bad writing
Arifureta delivers what i expect from it and really good for what it is.
No cockblocking, no retarded comedy, no crappy angst, no UST and violent readhead tsunderes and no pussy mc that must level up and defeat enemies with power of friendship and then lecture his enemies about living their life correctly instead of killing them etc. No other bullshit. Just adventures, sweet sol and lovemaking with blonde loli vampire.
I enjoyed his edgy antics and his complex about looking like a chuuni. He seemed like an actual fourteen year old given way too much power for his own good to me. Lava submarine felt like a huge shark jump at first but then I remembered this was a guy who built a railgun in the first dungeon and shit didn't really tone down after that.
To me its basically ended up as was Tenchii would be if Ryoko was the MC and could pull Washu science-magic.
The whole Kouki/Kaori/Shizuku/Class et all sideplot felt like straight fanfic wish fulfillment for loner teenagers. I really tried to ignore it early on though, before it got too obvious, then I accepted it.
Like half the thread is negative replies about it and its just the OP image and several LN arts.
Anyone reading Arifureta knows its not World of Cultivation-tier or anything.
it been a while since I read/watch the series , I could be blinded by Kazuma's swag of which I think was the most memorable thing about.
And again we were kinda told about his back story but it was hardly his actual character when we see him
well I dropped around the first time he re-unite with the teacher. I just found it boring because he pulling shit out of his ass and it seem like nothing will be a issue to him
Yeah ATG is grinding my gears with the introduction of new girls since author removes a certain logical sense of his desires. He tries to make MC devoid of attachment but all MC thoughts dwell on over flowery description of beauty and he always performs the action to gain their favour.
It's obvious Chinese discrimination mentality since the author would never elaborate on it.
His adventure is great though, just his familial affairs are lack luster, and quite a few Chinese series fall into this trap.
Really he needs to lose another girl on his journey of strength to fix his attitude since any girl would eventually feel trapped in his harem.
It's cool when you acknowledge him as a cold blooded warlord, he lacks qualities of better written heroes out there.
Never read Coiling Dragon but aware of many forum opinions being the same direction that it loses steam, read Desolate Era, same author and the story has similar elements but hasn't slowed down once.
I've heard of LLS, just need a few question
Is there romance like DD? When does the good part start? I drop it when the mc just keeps getting "low tiered shit summons but it's actually a legendary OP monster"
Basically, this is shit because it abandons its initial premise very quickly, which is the thing most people started reading it for.
That is to say, the mildly self-indulgent story of a guy who gets short-changed and abandoned in the Summoned To Another World With A Power stakes, then becomes an OP monster with gross-but-cool monster eating powers.
Instead, he becomes a beloved hero the instant he leaves the dungeon, the guy who killed him immediately becomes the slave of the actual villain rather than just being a Japanese-tier bully, the generic Good Guy stand-in hero turns out to be a possessive NTR moron (amazing), and random girls line up to slot themselves onto his dick with little to no development.
I rarely stop reading stories I've started, even when they become shit, but the moment I dropped Arifureta was when the MC tried playing the whole "Haha, I'll pretend to be a murderous bag of dicks so you can hate me instead of feeling sad", which made his loli teacher get super-wet for him because she immediately worked out the charade (via moon logic). It was trying to have its edgy cake and eat it to. You can be a hated villain who takes on the world's sins etc etc, /or/ you can be a beloved and compassionate hero who causes every female who meets him to soak their panties. Don't try to have your cake and eat it too, you just look retarded.
I appreciate that the guy didn't want revenge on his classmates (including the one who tried to murder him?), but why not make the vampire loli a cornerstone of the Demon King's barrier or whatever, so he becomes a monster fighting against the heroes to save her? Or something. Any kind of actual motivation.
My biggest concern with Arifureta is how utterly lazy the writing becomes. It's fine to decide MC can do literally everything, but the developments are handwaved and asspulled in a couple of lines and aren't really explored or justified, which breaks suspension of disbelief.
For example, one of the very first asspulls, the rail gun.
How did he start off designing it? What real revolver did he use as the model?
How did he decide on the optimum barrel length? Bullet shape and size? Quantity of gunpowder substitute? Rifling? Weight/power balance? Not told.
Were there any accidents or setbacks during the development and testing? We're not told.
Did he draw his design anywhere or was he relying entirely on memory to retain the whole design as it changed over time? We're not told!
The text heavily implies he never actually tested it against a monster, because the very next chapter the rabbit he kills is the first victim of the bullshit gun. How did he test his gun? How did he quantify the results so he could improve on previous revisions? We're not told.
How does he know that it's ten times stronger than an antimatter rifle? Has he ever fired an antimatter rifle?
In the span of one paragraph he just builds a gamebreaking gun with no justification.
Then it worsens.
>By the way, I built this submarine earlier because we might have to go underwater someday.
>I've been working on it for quite a while, but you've never seen me work on it, I've never mentioned I was working on it, and the harem who is with me 24/7 never noticed I was working on it either.
>I've also never been near a large enough body of water to actually test it in, but I know it works perfectly.
>I never predicted we'd have to use it in magma, but I happened to make it tolerant of magma temperatures and magma pressures, instead of just watertight.
>None of this will ever be addressed. A single line is all that is needed to asspull this submarine into existence.
Yep. Total bullshit.
I could forgive the sudden magitech being pulled out of his ass if the premise of the manga was that his craft-focused class was regarded as shit, but he ground it to ridiculous levels in the dungeon, picked up skill books from the dungeon makers, and combined it with modern-day scientific knowledge to become an OP fantasy Edison.
a) that's not the premise, he just... happens to be Tony Stark, somehow, on top of his monster-eating powers
b) if it were the premise, you'd expect enough focus being given to it that his creations were actually interesting and foreshadowed
c) if it were the premise, you'd expect the world to react to and mimic his creations rather than them just being an additional (unnecessary) excuse for him being broken.
>abandons its initial premise
I guess this was my problem with it too. The first dungeon set up the mood for the rest of the series, but the demon eating is hardly mentioned again and the tone shifts completely to standard harem building and everyone around him sucking his dick. It would have been nice if he'd fought against the heroes, yeah.
Similar gripe with the harem itself. The indication for much of the series was that they would never take the harem too far, and that Yue was his one and only and he only held special feelings for her. It even became a running gag. They fuck regularly and while the other girls get jealous they seem to accept he's in a committed relationship. Suddenly at the end he fucks and wifes another 7 girls, including multiple classmates somehow and even his loli teacher.
So much this. I don't know how I got through that cringy sensei part, but I do regret not dropping it earlier.
I've seen a lot of asspulls and I kinda don't mind them..... but come on.That was just retarded, or maybe the author was just thinking this at the time
>My reader is probably braindead for reading this anyway right? so hey why not?
I read a bit of TMW. I'm not sure if it's a common thing in chinknovels, but do you know why there's so much sucking up and hierarchy? I get that not losing face and showing appropriate subservience is a thing, but it's taken to such extremes.
And if you were told, you would cry that it's boring words words words.
It was nice when it was done in GunOta. At least shows the author knows absolutely nothing about guns but that they are cool, and actually helps develop the character a bit (through his decision making processes, how long he decides to work, how he copes with setbacks and people's reactions to setbacks such as blowing away his hand). That said, I'm mostly basing it off his very initial gun-making process, since it kind of felt like later gun development skipped most of the above.
About that series, I'm still quite not well with that former slave and her daughter. The husband was a former slaver that saved and married her. But she hate him for his dirty past. He left to earn money for them and while he's gone, MC NTRed him, both wife and daughter.
Then twist, husband is evil and working with some devil.
He fucks the loli vampire girl and starts a relationship with her, rejecting each new harem girl when they turn up for the majority of the story. I’m not pissed about the harem existing and being there, I’m pissed by how he does a 180 at the end and ends up fucking and marrying all 8 of them even though the story indicated otherwise.
This thread needs more kumas.
Web Novels have no barrier of entry, and in the wild they tend to gather a following.
Publishers decide to pick it up, because there's literally no way they can lose money on it, with a big enough following.
I bought it. I can upload it if you want.
I have only the first volume and the BookWalker chapter that was bundled with it, though.
Created a custom screen resolution and took screen shots using Greenshot.
And since there were quite some JPEG artifacts because they were stingy when it came to this LN I ran waifu2x's noise removal at the lowest possible settings over it.
Result looks pretty good as you can see. No artifacts and no blur. It perfectly removed the artifacts only.
It's basically "cuz magic ores" or "cuz age of gods magic" for most of those.
That and the monster transformation gave him direct mana manipulation which conveniently half of his harem has by being special snowflakes and some gain through more age of gods bullshittery and robot angel nun bodies and such.
That isn't even as bad as the literal doraemon shit, orbital cannon, cross bits from gundam, giant robot super sentai team, etc he makes later.
Its dumb fun and anyone who thinks its anything but that will get upset. Like that time early on when he's in the demihuman village and goes full edge and threatens to just start shooting the place up if they want to kill the rabbits and permanently injures a bearman to prove his point.
You're welcome, just don't forget to set it to take screens in PNG or TIF to remove quality loss.
I wonder if someone published western novels with anime style art and changed the names to japanese and made random characters bishoujous or lolis I would like them more.
Probably. anime rotted my brain I guess
I guess i am supposed to repove the menu and white screen myself with imgur? Cause waifu2x didnt do it for me.
So what's everyone reading? I'm trying to catch up to pic related and really like that he's getting a
Well yeah, you need to crop it yourself.
finished kuma today again, 3 chapters of skeleton knight(on 18 the translator is), rereading death march because I can't get enough of that shit
Can't stand the recent chapters of Kuro no maou though. I grew tired of the story after the likable buffoon arrow girl turned into a megabitch.
I swear I never hated fictional characters so much I quit reading a story before.
It is at 50% price at the moment.
At last finished Regios. At the end it was a shitty ride, but overall I enjoyed it. That was a good break from isekai/tensei stuff and returning to "old" novels felt nice. I cried like a bitch for the last boss (no, that fire mutt wasn't the one). As the best girl winning was spoilered to me long ago, it had less impact than it should have be for me, so I ended up to be more invested in the antagonist, I guess.
Probably just due to the current niche those stories are aimed at.
Something more universal would cut out the "reincarnated" part, seeing as even in the west there are a lot of people who have probably thought about exploring a world with magic.
Gotta retain my masculinity. And there's Index as well.
BTW thread for overlord vol 10 here
Elf Tensei Kara no Cheat Kenkoku-ki
The only one I've read so far. I like the setting, and the way the author develops the op power was kinda brilliant. Talking about "Deet" specifically.
>Shiraori: I never asked for this
If you screen shot it like that there will be some shadows left at the very bottom because of that shitty reader. Only 2px, though.
Increase the screen resolution and set the reader to 90% to avoid it.
harem isn't the problem, badly done harem is
When you just stack up the girls and contrive ways to have them fall in love with the MC then it gets a bit hard to read. Even then I think most /a/ posters would forgive you if the girls are fun like Shia is in OP's story.
Arifureta actually developed the girls but I don't think most people can stomach the students and the teachers character development because its so ridiculous. I was fine with it since I thought of it as a power fantasy wish fulfillment story from the start.
That and kouki being a punching bag.
The idea of a harem itself sounds great, if you don't mind spreading your love, instead of focusing on just one.
I don't mind harem stories, but nearly all of them go about it in a stupid fashion.
Besides, most "battle harems" are just really complicated love triangles that aren't resolved.
Like >>139755935 said, there's no meaning in just throwing in random girls, without having a real plot.
In case you're serious, the art is that of the boat slut.
Even in the final arc Hajime was still entirely focused on Yue. He just decided he'd at least accept responsibility for all the other girls because he felt he owed them for bringing him back from the brink of insanity.
All the harem has had pretty cute moments in the after story chapters.
I think another thing is that it is written at the start as 1 girl development per vol so you end up spending like 5 just to get the gist of the harem rather slow building them up through the course of few novels.
Nowadays all romance are love in first sight, plus harem is something MC have to achieve, playing his cards right not just handed to him in a silver platter.
finally we hardly get harem end so what is the fucking point
How dare you gloss over Shia's glorious victory after the Forest Temple.
More like even when they do its because the girl is an antagonist or hostile. Usually once they are on the same side its done, like Rin in Fate/Stay Night where it was basically her hating him for existing then being all over him.
>we hardly get harem end
I'm actually curious about this. Is there anything translated or untranslated besides MT that has a real harem end anyway?
And by a real harem end I mean with a family and all like >>139732922 mentioned and not your usual 100000 times overused anime type harem end.
Shia's victory was great but my point was that even though Hajime "accepted" the other girls, his thoughts were still entirely Yue centered. I'm still waiting for a Lily afterstory chapter to explain how her relationship with Hajime is.
Reincarnator, -same concept as tale of demons and god but the MC is 1000x better
I shall seal the heaven.
DD2, (MTLing the raw)
nothing else I can take seriously.
It's BULLSHIT thats how it is
Arifureta is family end
Thats about all I can list. Its strange, I've seen so many harems but so few that actually end with a coherent group forming around the MC with relationships between the girls. MC's usually just stack them up and knock them down.
>It's why people have dropped it
I dropped it because it became absolutely ridiculous.
Lava submarines... really?
The harem doesn't bother me, but I can see why people would be annoyed by it, considering how insistent Hajime was about only loving Yue.
Anyways, there are a lot of harem web novels, that actually have a harem (MC in an actual relationship with the girls, probably even boning), though I don't know how many get as far as to have a family. A lot of them just happen to be mindless power fantasies, and I guess something like responsibility would be counter-productive.
I didn't drop it because of the harem though. I was actually fine with it but jesus christ the way they were treated later on and their conversations in general felt so cringe.
I coudn't care less about the classmates too. This Kouki fellow and his character was just plain hilarious. I'm actually surprised it got a family end but knowing the author he probably ended with something like this didn't he?
>and hajime had 9999 kids with his harem-which by the way I shoved down the readers throat as hard as I could.
Yue basically seduced the fuck out of him. She learned whore magic when she was a princess in training.
>became absolutely ridiculous
because everything before that wasn't?
Lava submarine was just too out of left field for anyone. Even I believe the author wrote himself into a corner and just went fuck it.
>something like responsibility would be counter-productive.
death march handles this part really well. MC is basically japanese superman. Also I love it when you have a already OP MC get even stronger when the enemies don't.
>considering how insistent Hajime was about only loving Yue
I thought about why I didn't mind other harems (even real ones like in MT) and realized that this was the difference. Hajime x Yue was pushed as the OTP for the entire story, I didn't sign up for him to fuck and marry them all.
Though by the time Kaori entered the harem (and got some asspull power-up so she could fight on their level) the constant harem bants were already getting pretty grating.
>because everything before that wasn't?
It all was. I just lost my patience with it all by that point, and decided I didn't care anymore.
The Lava submarine popping out of nowhere with not prior explanation just happened to be the trigger.
Well talking about harem and Arifureta, don't expect it to be less haremy in the LNs because the LN has already promoted one classmate to sub-heroine level with hints that she might get more development later too.
Its just author made a mistake at the beginning by attracting literal cucks who thought it was a story about pussy mc struggling with goblins drama like Hai Grimgar. Now they are mad and shitting in every thread.
Should have done prologue where mc already a big boss to chase away retards from the start.
Result will be something like this.
This is without any noise removal since they aren't that many artifacts.
Far more people prefer weak male MC so that girls can shine more and MC actually has to struggle and use his brain.
The best selling harems in history are Bakemonogatari and IS. By far.
Super OP male leads are fucking boring.
Lazy dungeon master s cover
>Dungeon master wants to sleep now and forever...
Sounds like longing for death.
>Old woman at the end of her life
It's good until the arc after the elf joins the party/harem. After that it goes to total shit because every arc is
Stuff happens, a newly introduced girl is helped / saved, falls for one of the other guys despite Sirius doing most of the work, repeat for next arc.
Author has posted that it's because Sirius is too amazing so the girls fall in love with the more normal guys instead of him.
Because the author feels like there has to be some kind of new romance in every arc and since he doesn't want to add more girls to Sirius, he just tosses them to the other guys.
It's really too bad too because the first 100 or so chapters of the story were quite good.
World Teacher sucks because they refused to do loli wolf girl on the cover despite the fact that in both books she's still a loli but they got around it by starting volume 1 with a random flash forward to when they're teens that still hasn't come up yet.
It just annoys the hell out of me that they started with a random flash forward just so they could put a teenage girl on the cover. Why couldn't we have gotten a family shot or something.
Yes and? MC saved them from slavery, turned their lives around, gave them training to make sure they were never weak again, gave them a new loving family, and saved Reus from a racial curse. It's really not surprising at all that they'd pledge themselves to him.
Honest I think I just didnt like how quickly they become yes-man to the MC after than. I felt they lost of a bit of personality. it became for me
> "MC sama told us to do A"
> "Ok sister let do A"
> "Praise us MC sama"
It became more a master-pet relationship than teacher -student relationship.
I mean wished the brother kept a bit more of that tsun he had with MC
Elf is pretty good when she finally shows up.
Second prince has shit taste if he chose the baron's daughter over Iris.
This reminds me, I totally forgot that this actually had a manga.
And it doesn't even look that bad, a lot better than the LN.
It's one of those otome game villain reincarnation stories but she only remembered her past life after she had hit the bad end. She managed to convince her father to not send her off to be confined in a church and instead ended up being the feudal lord rep in charge of the family territory.
Basically it's a kingdom management/reform story. Also there's no harem for Iris despite the fact that she has a number of male servants so no worries there.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH! You are not even at the level of this beauty!
See the drama on NU and places? Some guy was trying to pass his english original story off as a chinese story translation and taking big donations for every chapter. He got caught and when asked to show the raws posted an obvious english mtl'd into chinese image.
I don't understand how he got that going. Wasn't there a link to the raws or at least something from an official book store for people to look over?
Anyone have a link to Ch59 of Return of the Former Hero?
Apparently he had been making up shit like he was given the story directly and the author never posted it online, etc etc. He said he would send a copy of the raws if people really wanted though but this one guy tried messaging him and just getting ignored so he finally made a big deal about it and instant drama. Author tried to post the obvious english -> chinese MTL "raw" and got called out for how obvious it was by chinese translators who said the phrasing and terms used was nothing like how a chinese writer would write and it had english sentence structure.
For Return of the Former Hero, all the chapters are on negaraizu's site since RtD has been so shit lately.
>The links work
What the fuck. Tried all day yesterday and today and kept getting the usual error out.
>Author contacted him directly
Does he have some sort of E-Fame for that to even happen? Everything about it seems real fishy.
No he was just some random new "translator" that was posting chapters for $10 donations at the start but then ramped up to $50 per chapter pretty fast once the story got noticed because of the frequent updates.
It's kind of interesting, the amount of money people will spend for translated chapters. I do wonder if they'll continue making money with this now that the cat's out of the bag.
Are we still taking about Empyrean Overlord?
Long story short, it appears that it's a OEL story, and not a translated one, but advertised it as such to place it on popular websites.
Supposedly, the translator forged evidence to "prove" its CN origins, and was found out, leading to lots of drama.
>I don't read chinese stories
You're missing out, anon.
>paying real yen for MTL-tier translation
Sweet Christmas just how naive are you.
People paying for MTL sets the bar low for others and cripples anyone that actually would put effort into it because their hard work is seen as lesser even if better.
If anything it would promote more people doing MTL since the barrier for free money is so low.
Breast feeding illustrations for those that were interested.
The fucking point is that we won't have to pay for the MTL translation ourselves though, just wait for someone to pirate it for us (like horriblesub/horriblescan). There are many dumbasses out there still willing to donate money to shitty novels (like Mushoku Tensei or tate yuusha), I'm sure they will be eager to pay money for MTL stuff.
>tfw DeathBlade actually quit his job to translate I Shall Seal The Heavens as his main job
Either that or no (great) novel at all, what do you choose?
Personally I do MTL myself though. Those retards only translate pandering/self-insert shit (or YY like the chinks say)
This, and it's already happening. Of course the same retards donate this new "translator" for all his "hard" work and cycle just goes on.
I mean just look around there are shit tons of these guys and well most of them don't even hide anymore that they MTL(remember the Konjiki drama? KeK)
>Everything beside ISSTH are shit.
Stay cool, fellow daoist. I still like Perfect World for how ridiculous and shameless it is.
Jin Yong Novels has about everything.
Loli's,maid, tsundere, yandere, harem, girls with personality, kuudere, Op mc, Edgy mc,Retarded mc, Beta mc...
Gu long has smart female villians and his books read as a mystery novel.
The vain of my existence. In a way, I actually don't mind the ones thate are upfront about it. Them I can avoid and/or read to judge.
But the ones that don't say anything, yet you can straight up tell it's MTL, and they have the gall to put up some donate button when half their shit is wrong. That kills the community. Well, the community is already dying with all the MTLs in general.
>"translators" corner clearly shows an extremely poor grasp of English
That said, would you read a MTL that was edited to make sense in English, but not necessarily an actual translation?
Depends on what you mean by an actual translation. I can understand Sacrificing literal-ness for readability. But the only way I'd accept a MTL is they spend 90% of their time scrutinizing over every little word. Because that's exactly what they should be doing when they don't know the language. And even then it's only for a series I considered low priority on the reading list.
But hell, most MTLs don't even go that far. These guys will translate a っ as "tsu"(Hurts that even newbie translators fall for that too.) and not even proofread their stuff into proper English. So it reads like shit.
There are also faggots who leave a line in japanese and put something like "lol i dont know". Either make somthing up or skip a line outright, don't be halfassed to such degree, holy shit.
>There are also faggots who leave a line in japanese and put something like "lol i dont know". Either make somthing up or skip a line outright, don't be halfassed to such degree, holy shit.
No, never make something up. I don't mind when they say they don't know the line. but they should clearly ask for help. Especially if they are trying to improve their Japanese. If I stumble across that, I will usually throw them a bone and best explain what the line means so they can improve.
Incredibly disappointed the author was forced to censor his own story because breastfeeding is not okay in text form according to the web novel site when Seikon no Qwaser exists both in manga and anime form.
But it looks like the Light Novel kept the breastfeeding while the web novel site said breastfeeding was not okay.
After a community backlash, the project reorganized itself, and they got rid of that editor.
I'm pretty sure they went back and redid those chapters, but I haven't really checked back, seeing as I dropped it soon after.
Thanks for the info.
Could go the archaic route, and just take screenshots of every page, and zip it. Can't make an epub like that, but you can OCR the contents, or read it as-is. Maybe use a script to auto-crop the pages?
Best hint i have is to download shit on mobile, do the backup on my pc and i got the epubs that way. Can't open them tough since calibre gives error, probably something to do with metadata folder .
The designs look so off, Medea should be a bit smaller, Zebul was supposed to be pretty much a loli, and not!gilgamesh who was one of most badass characters in the novel looks like a faggot.
They picked the wrong artist for this series, the fan art looks like it fits a lot more.
>picked up and healed by the power of cuddling
>nothing happens, ever
>she loses it and rapes sloth-kun
>mind break herself into a pillow
I don't even know anymore
It was a maybe good, but weird and unsatisfying read. Everything near the end was fucked up. Also token characters that does jack shit.
I think the end of part 2 was what made it feel really unsatisfying, the one in part 1 was pretty good. Medea was so weird that she ended up being the most enjoyable character for me.
Pride dude, Greed kun, Medea and Zebul were great characters. Probably the maids and Sloth too.
Literally no one else matters, the Demon king and her little understudy might as well not be there.
If I remember it properly she avoided getting killed, got to annoy the shit out of fallen angel-chan, made her give a good chunk of her powers, turning Hiero into low tier demon lord while also making fallen angel-chan look like a complete retard. It was some god tier trolling.
Is this series as dead as my hopes and dreams?
I can give you a screen shot raw, since I too, have no clue how to rip it.
Here's also pic related and its special:
