You can actually live quite comfortably in some countries.

I recently spent a year in the Balkans for a job. Annual monthly salary around there was $410 (though obviously I was paid higher than that). On the flip side, every else was way cheaper. I could go to and devour a bowl of Chinese food till I was stuffed for around $3.

I think I managed to spend only $11,000 throughout my entire stay. And that includes paying rent on an upper-middle class apartment in the nice part of town, along with some out of town weekend excursions.

Totally doable.

Japan, including tokyo, is pretty cheap compared with sydney, ausfailia.

My monthly rent is around 710 burgers (I live with my gf so pay half that). A bottle of coke is around $1.40 and beer is $1.40-$3.

Buses are expensive for some reason. I spend like $40 on buses a week.

That seems high. I'm going to pay about $550 burgers, but then again that's grad student dorms so maybe it's cheaper. Over here grad student dorms are just as expensive as regular housing, though.

>getting paid at all
Japanese CG is so fucking bad it's unreal- actually, most of their animation is so bad it's unreal, that's why they make it cookie cutter I guess, don't want to chance fucking it up.

Nobody that does CG work in that country deserves a fucking job though.

A-list voice actors don't deserve that much money either considering the fact that they all sound the same. They must get paid a lot for being whores that teenagers worship, no way in fuck that's actual talent.

I've lived on less and still been able to save up. Being frugal obviously helps, but I think the determining factor for whether it's possible is rent where you live. In Tokyo you'd probably have to be prepared to live like 1-2 hours away from your workplace just to afford the apartment. Which, combined with ridiculous overtime before deadlines, explains the whole stereotype of animators just sleeping on their desk instead of going home.
>>

Look the way I see it is that there is a certain talent that comes with being a voice actor, right?

You read your lines and inject the necessary tone into what you're reading.

Many people can do this.

Their A-list isn't A-list because they're better at the job, they're A-list for essentially being A-list. They're paid to make a statement by just existing as part of the show.

They get paid shitloads because their fans put them on a pedestal, a pedestal that is kinda retarded.

Same goes for Hollywood actors. At some point it's not about their ability, it's just about their name.
>>
>>139669846
No, the people who get paid that much are usually professional singers that also sing in their shows and have amazing vocal range. Please don't pretend for a single fucking second that Nana Mizuki isn't talented.
>>
besides rent and transportation living in japan can be pretty cheap. that still isn't a lot of money though
>>
>>139669905
Can you stop pretending that someone singing a 2 minute OP is worth being paid 10 times as much as the executive producer?

Get real.

They're not paid for being able to sing, they're getting paid for being famous, the singing is just a correlated aspect of that.
>>

You're retarded. For one thing, Symphogear isn't idolshit. For another, even if it was that's only going against your argument, if it was idolshit then the singing/VA would be even more important to the show and thus make more sense for the actor/singer to be paid more.

I think you're underestimating how important good acting and a good opening is in helping the show make money.
>>
>>139661285
Stop it!
>>
>>139669846
>Many people can do this.
Yes but it's like drawing, anybody can draw and draw well with practice sure it's easier for some but most don't even bother or give up after first hour, payment isn't good either unless you're a big shot so many people with potential don't even try or try CGI because "it's the future".
>Their A-list isn't A-list because they're better at the job, they're A-list for essentially being A-list.
To be A-list you have to become A-list, have some kind of talent and work hard to do so see Nana Mizuki for example she was talented, she got lucky and she become title seller and now she's just cutting off coupons from all the hard work she did in the past and keep on doing.
>>139670002
>Can you stop pretending that someone singing a 2 minute OP is worth being paid 10 times as much as the executive producer?
Look up sales of the shows based on leading seiyuu, writer can be deluded fuck, director can be talentless hack, quality of anime can become a meme and popular seiyuu will still sell it while dream production team with literally who as leading seiyuu sell 3k BD and that fact is reflected in their payment.

you completely missed the entire point. If you've been to college, you see how some people there live, not to mention how some schools fuck their students over with class scheduling.

If you're someone with good money sense, and can't "understand" why the people who you were around would end up doing something when you were around them for at least 3 years if you went 20 credits a semester like a madman, then you're either non-observant or really stuck up.

If you wasted your time in college following people around and watching them blow money on booze and partying instead of getting shit done, and then have the gall to tell someone else they aren't observant, then you might be the stupidest guy in the thread. I have plenty of friends that went to college and enjoyed themselves, myself included, and only one of us built up credit card debt like an idiot. I didn't ask how someone could acquire debt, I asked how so many people could, because the person I quoted made it sound like debt was the norm. If you and everyone around you was too stupid to plan ahead and think before you acted, or too lazy to get a part time job, that's not my fault.

I'd take quality over sales and popularity. I'm kind of sad we don't have the season 1 feel and quality any more.

And yeah, the concert was fucking cool. Can't wait for the BDs, as some of the live versions of songs blow the CD version out of the water. Inori completely caught me off guard with how good she sang GENOCIDE and the album version just doesn't do it for me anymore.
>>

I went to Tokyo for a few weeks solely for the concert, more specifically to hear Aoi live.
100% worth it. Shame about the lack of Ishikawa and Sugita both I was very pleased with the setlist. Got to hear some old S1 favorites.
I was actually expecting Inorin to perform worse, only because she is so young and it's a difficult song but she exceeded my expectations.
Everything after the S4&S5 confirmation was insane. Pretty sure at some point near the end it just devolved into Aoi and the audience shouting "thanks" to each other.
Just a lot of genuine emotion on display.
tl;dr BD when.
>>
>>139675064
I'm still kind of depressed there wasn't a sketch show type thing with Sugita again. Don't get me wrong, the songs were great, especially when the audience was singing Radiant Force louder than the singers, but having the same show twice in a row was kind of disappointing.
