Yes, in GX. It was actually a plot point in one episode. A fucking battleship brings a suitcase full of new cards to the card shop, only for Chronos to buy all of them to give to Manjoume as part of yet another "fuck the Slifer Slacker scheme". Judai managed to get one pack from the vendor lady in gratitude for helping her.
Manjoume got the entire VWXYZ series, and Judai got Winged Kuriboh LV10 and Trascendent Wings from those packs.

Musically speaking, the new Op is very creative and takes more risks than the other ones. The first one had some cool moments like the descending chords in the "m-mind" part, and the chorus was catchy enough i guess. It was by no means perfect, it was a bit dull and had too much 'unmaskable repetition' but it was Ok, a solid 6/10. The second one was much more simple, predictable and uneventful, but was very poppy and catchy and had a good balance of tension and release. It's a good departure from the 1st that tried too hard to be 'mysterious', 8/10. The third one is where things get really good. The tone changing, the dynamic theme, and the bluntness of the changes can turn some on and others off. In my opinion, it's a very good Op. Just the tonal change and the little theme make up for the dry changes, 8/10. The fourth is the worst of the bunch. It's boringly repetitive, and the chorus doesn't make up for it in any way. Could be way better. The little interlude between the verse and the chorus is kinda nice, but that's about it, 4/10. The fifth then, just like the third it has blunt changes, and those are more prominent in the former than the latter. The changes are cool and don't go too far from the main harmony since the tone doesn't change, and the chords are pretty stagnant too; the arrangements are where the gold is. The song descends from complete zetsubou to egao in a very nice way, and all that really happened was a change in the instrumentation of the chords and their order. The tempo is the same, but even the beat changes alongside with the synthetic sounds and everything else, even the vocals that go from the echoy beginning to that conversation style of singing, to a more call and response to a double tracked chorus. It's nicely done and i give it a 7/10.

More importantly, in Zexal EVERYBODY except for 2 characters (technically 4) used Xyz monsters. 99% of duels had both players summon Xyz monsters and then sit on them.
In GX, not everyone used fusion just like in 5Ds not everyone used Synchros.
Which is why during the Zexal era we got more new Xyz than there were fusions and synchros combined at the time, Konami and Hikokubo went overboard.
Thankfully, Arc-V has been much more balanced in using all summoning methods.
