I blame the new director, whoever it is. Part 3 anime had its moments but overall was just way worse than the manga because of animation issues + pacing and directing issues. I really didn't mind the pacing all that much, and even if you did you can hardly blame them.
You can't really boil down 6 chapters worth of fighting into one episode without it getting rushed as fuck, but it's also a bit little for two episodes, resulting in a bit of slow pacing here and there. But SC in itself is also slow, and somewhat tedious with nothing but stand fights to drive the plot forward, so I won't fault David for that.

I think that the way those parts were set up was a big part of it. They're really short and the plot is constantly moving, since there are fewer filler enemies.

David also used had some brilliant uses of colour, like when Jonathan tossed the torch in the catacombs and the colours switched to cooler pastel shades instead of the warm earthy tones without actually changing the brightness of the image much. The first two parts are chock full of dazzling shit like that: take the famous Mark's death pose for example. They really made the parts more interesting to watch.


Stardust Crusaders usually played it much safer with that stuff, mostly reserving it for the climaxes of fights where they switched the colour palettes. The only uses of colour that really wowed me off the top of my head would be The World's brown note activation effect, or when D'arby nearly had a stroke on the poker table and his face became shaded with radically different colours.

Death Note, HxH and OPM all have that continuous beat type of soundtrack that doesn't make the most of the situation, save rare exceptions, namely the opening theme which has to be memorable.
And Jojo, for me at least, is like 50% the music and 50% everything else. Maybe because I really got into it when I read the manga and listened to every band that was referenced in it. It's like Araki wanted to add a soundtrack with the references.
For example, in Phantom Blood there's Tarkus, and the track which accompanies his fight is reminiscent of the album Tarkus by Emerson Lake and Palmer. That really helped set the mood and make things more interesting.
I doubt Madhouse could do that, they've always disappointed me on that level.

The designs aren't the only issue. Madhouse, at least in the past 6 years, has been known for modifying and rushing parts of a story as they see fit just to speed up important exposition they deem boring and overglorify the "epic" scenes. That habit is one of the worst fucking things you can do when the point of adapting JoJo is faithfulness to the source material. Anime like OPM and Hunter x Hunter were severely rushed at key moments in the series just so they can get to the good bits, and Kiseiju was straight up neutered in the spirit of modernization.

And that's not even to mention their disgusting reliance on speedlines and dragging character models in place of true inbetweens. I will say that their animation is some of the best in the industry right now, but that's not saying much when we're discussing an indsutry plagued by reliance on CGI and outsourcing to Asia.

Yea that was one of the better things about Part 4. Every other part, the protagonists are outgunned by the villain's amazing Stand. In Part 4, Kira is both outnumbered and extremely outgunned by the heroes, he can't beat a single one of them in a 1 on 1 fair fight, so he relies on his wits to survive. Kira is wily and hard to pin down, he likes to keep his distance in fights and would rather never get caught to begin with. But if pinned down, Crazy Diamond absolutely destroys Killer Queen. Shit, so does Star Platinum, Echoes Act 3 and probably The Hand + Heaven's Door. Fatty probably would have never lost either if he knew about KQ's bomb ability.

Then you can just erase Sheer Heart attack, but then you'll get outwitted by Kira anyway. We've seen how Koichi dealt with both Kira and SHA. Jotaro would need to time stop spam to win.

Johnny's great, he seems like a cunt at first and you don't feel that bad for him but he grows over the course of the journey and has an actual character arc. He may not become a good man or even a good person, but it's about how he grows and it accomplishes that incredibly well. That said SBR has a pretty varying level of quality, it can be the most boring shit in some parts and excellent in the next. It's not my favourite but it's pretty good. DIO's World is pretty good and I agree on King Crimson though, stop relying on the shit scans or the wiki, they're both wrong and he's not too difficult once you realise that he fucks with fate and not just time.

I still feel like Epitaph gives Diavolo the edge, if they were standing still for six seconds then he wouldn't tell but if he saw his and Ringo's positions just move back to where they were all of a sudden, he'd be suspicious. Knowing about Diavolo and suspicion, he'd erase time first and foremost to avoid whatever Ringo did, and it doesn't matter in the end since he could begin the erase before Ringo even does the time reverse because Diavolo knew that their positions would change 10 seconds prior.

On paper Diavolo would destroy him, but knowing Araki it could go either way.

I love the color palette but holy fuck the terrible noses and shiny faces are pissing me off. Why can't they use the previous character design style and just remove the tire shoulders? Jotaro's face in part 3 for example was perfect.

He sees what's fated to happen, and KC lets him circumvent that fate by deleting that time. He can't see his deletes because they aren't fated until he does them. If Ringo is fated to reverse time, it should show up because their positions will change (remember that Epitaph only shows position without context) if it's fated, he'll see the rewind because everyone's positions change in an instant. That said if they somehow stated completely still for 6 seconds or Ringo tricked him into standing in the same position they were in 6 seconds prior, it wouldn't show up on Epitaph since no one's positions would change at that point and he could get some shots in at Diavolo as he is confused about what happened and why he couldn't detect something happening. Basically Epitaph is a projection of where everyone is fated to be positioned provided he DOESN't delete that time, so his deletes don't show in his predictions since it's basically telling him 'this is what will happen if you don't use KC within the next 10 seconds'.

If he doesn't act, the prediction plays as he saw, if he does, it gets changed and he needs to re use epitaph to know the "new" next 10s
It doesn't really prove Epitaph cant see time manipulating powers, it just shows that his powers do change the short future he predicted

Jotaro is edgy but deep down a massive pussy, Josuke is more like Joseph but he's actually interested in other's welfare though he doesn't show it, Giorno wants to be a fucking mob boss to reform the gang so they stop doing shit like selling cocaine to kids (personality wise he's a mix of DIO and Jonathan on account of being conceived by DIO using Jonathan's body), Jolyne is a whiny girl who wisens up and deals with her daddy issues, Johnny is an asshole but he has brilliant character development, and Gappy is a mix of good hearted, sassy, asshole and moe.

They're all wildly different, though Jonathan is the only truly righteous one and his influence is what makes all of them through to Jolyne (7 and 8 are a reboot) the people they are. Chances are if you don't like Joseph you'll enjoy another one later far more.
