The manga was hardcore. You wouldn't expect so many people to die in completely brutal ways when it starts out as a gag manga.

I started re-reading the original Kinnikuman a while ago and now I'm almost done with the Dream Chojin Tag arc.

Ashuraman and Sunshine taking away Kinnikuman's friendships with the other Justice Chojin is still stupid, but it's nice how quickly he wins them back anyway.

This show sucked because it was childish and relied on fart jokes as a punchline. Even as a kid I thought it was stupid.

The original starts out as a parody of Japanese superheroes, but eventually turned mainly to chojin wrassling. It's still plenty ridiculous though.
