I have created a rule after watching this show, and it goes like this:
If I feel disgusting/gross/cringey while watching an anime, I drop it immediately. If I feel anything remotely close to what I felt while watching Haganai, then I am doing something wrong with my life. Haganai is so goddamn awful, it is the standard for what I will never watch.

For me, I really liked the characters, like a lot, but the show just never really did anything interesting, aside from typical harem stuff. There were a few genuinely funny episodes, and I actually liked Kodaka's little reveal at the end of S2, but otherwise, most of the episodes just followed a pretty basic generic harem formula.

I really thought she was a dude at first, and the reason he couldnt get any friends was because he was being too much of a tryhard while over compensating for her lack of masculinity. Then the series dropped all pretext, breaking the illusion and going full LOLBETAMALEWISHFULLFILLMENTHAREM bullshit.
