You could watch Musaigen no Phantom World instead, it's mediocre but still a better version of this

Season 1 is actually good coming of age story about one's relationship with the harsh truths of reality. Wrapped up in kyoani-tier moe and action.

Season 2 is make more money by making more episodes but to make sure you don't disillusion the fans better not advance the plot or characters at all.

Alright OP so listen to me,you should watch the first season THEN think about the second season as 12 OVA,trust me,if you think of it that way the anime is pretty good 2bh

Season 1 is good
Season 2 is bad because of Yuuta not Rikka, Yuuta actually becomes a terrible character in season 2 but everyone blames Rikka when she's the one who actually tried to develop.
Only watch season 2 if you enjoy seeing nice things being crushed.

I honestly didn't find S2 to be bad at all.
