>Shihoru can't make the jump
>Moguzo picks up Shihoru
>And Ranta takes his sword
Fucking magnificent jolly cooperation there.
Weird that the zombies seemingly have no loss in skill or power.
That's pretty fucking OP.
I just came here to post this. Unf.
Clearly someone needs to edit Ranta and Moguzo onto this.
The whole episode was just full of cool teamwork stuff. It was really fascinating seeing them fight against something closer to humans using human tactics to fight back.
Also shows how far they've come, they work better together now and Haruhiro's alot more attentive to what everyone's doing.
Just got started on volume 5.
I guess the digital illustrations are only 1200px high too. That sucks.
Holy shit, she's fucking mint.
They look a lot better than the ones at Nyaa. I would appreciate if you could share those, if you feel like it.
Yeah, I'll compile them as I go along the volume.
What popular work created Kobolds?
The only other time I remember seeing them was in the Suikoden series.
Hot or attractive.
man, ranta is badass as fuk.
i thought the left one was that battle priest from tokky's but then i realized it's the giant paladin, priest and paladin uniform is kinda similiar after all. his metal helmet looks out of place without proper metal plate armor
I'm going to try to do volume 4 this week. Got held up with another project. Looks like volume 3's getting done pretty fast, anyhow.
Definitely no guarantee though, just to make things clear.
Bloody hell, she's absolutely adorable.
Who ready for Zodiakkun?
I just binged this. I enjoyed the first half but the last few episodes just left me pissed. Why do the Japanese always have to give other girls moments with MC just to fuck them over in the end? Fuck Mary, I hope she gets raped, tortured, and dies. And I hope Faguhiro is forced to watch the entire thing.
german and some other countries folklore(any region with mines and miners has a form of kobold, we call them "mac molić" in my region because we had a big ass mine for centuries
Haha, Yume please. You're so cute.
Oh, right oh. Learn something new everyday.
someone talk to me about this. I've legitimately been fuming the past half hour about what seems to be a looming yume-ranta ship. yeah, there were signs of ranta's interest in her but why her him? even if haruhiro ends up with mary (fuck him and her btw) ranta doesn't deserve yume
>"I feel comfortable in your arms" (or something like that)
I wouldn't mind nearly as much if not for this. why give her and us the rain scene if they're just gonna throw her in the dump?
I've never been this agitated about anything anime-related before.
>ranta doesn't deserve yume
What angle are you approaching this from? He deserves better? I think they're a decent match.
There's nothing like that in the novels. It's either speculation based on between-the-lines stuff or he's just parroting that theory because it has become a meme on our Japanese equivalent.
He might be right with the authors history, the first frame of the OP and all the marble-earthmonkey shit and all, but I doubt we'll even get a second season so it really doesn't matter.
It's actually starting to embarrass me how I've seen some anons who were somehow able to dodge those spoilers.
Fuck you best boy Ranta deserves best girl Yume, I see nothing wrong with this.
They are a match made in heaven
>that 'oh shit, don't cream yourself' look on Ranta's face
Losing your marbles (en) = Being crazy = Leaving your marbles to the monkeys (jp)
Goblin is written as non-climbing monkey in Japanese. Marble is written as soulstone. Goblins killing people = Monkeys taking marbles.
Op opens on marbles in the padded cell of a mental hospital.
This should sound completely plausible to someone with extensive experience with padded cells.
What a fucking shame.
Why can't every episode be like ep11 and ep8?
The whole mine shaft scene was fucking glorious.
I hope that guy is full of shit, but I still remember the Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei OPs too well to dismiss his convoluted theory simply because "those visuals aren't in the source material".
>Why can't every episode be like ep11 and ep8?
Part of what made those two episodes great was the character building that led up to them, and the way they contrasted to the slow pace of their surrounding episodes. Just some food for thought.
There's no mentions of marbles whatsoever. Actually, the marble expression doesn't even exist in Japanese. He's full of shit. It's obvious enough by the lack of LN examples in his theory even though he 'just finished the latest LN'.
a) The plot is really fucking convenient and the writing is lazy.
b) Mary is a massive cunt and engineered the whole situation.
But two seasons don't sell twice as many LN/Manga as one season does, so one season each of two shows is always gonna be more profitable. Ironically, a second season gets ever more likely as the popularity of the source material drops.
>The plot is really fucking convenient
What about it is? Mary was the wrong level for their party, and took forever to warm up to them. Any random priest would have been better, save for that Mary is overlevelled and not underlevelled.
>You're allowed to drop things you don't like.
I swear there are people out there who are literally unable to do so, by the way people keep watching series like SAO/Mirai Nikki even after they've taken a nosedive in quality.
>holy shit are we going to go through a whole episode without mentioning manato?
>"Haruhiro, you're not manato"
>What about it is [convenient]?
Our party running into the zombies. A lot of stuff had to happen for that; They go into the mines, run into big scaries, the only way is down, people are tired, they're close the the old shrine, the zombies actually happen to be there, they don't just hightail the shit out of there.
I'm just saying that maybe Mary set out with the distinct intention of manipulating the party into taking out the zombies. She was very well prepared but never mentioned the possibility of this really quite dangerous situation arising to the others.
e) You can enjoy a piece of media and still criticize it.
The most worthwile discussion is critical discussion. You're welcome to circlejerk and memespew, don't mind me.
>You can enjoy a piece of media and still criticize it.
Of course you can. The best kind of discussion is objective discussion between people that truly enjoy something but are still able to see its flaws. Nothing in your posts suggests you're close to enjoying it, though. On the contrary, it seems you're hating every minute of it.
>Be a bandit
>Come across this
Do you unleash you inner bandit to do what he was born to do?
Yumefag here. This series has a thin budget, slight plot contrivances, and sporadically abhorrent pacing. At least it got right what SAO completely fucked up (having several well-developed male characters, and having female characters that aren't necessarily in love with the MC), 7/10.
Yume is easily best girl though. Great ass and great personality.
What if there are neutral people who thinks Merry was a mistake, and the author did not develop Yume and Shihoru properly?
Will Merryfags accuse them as Yumefags and Shihorufags?
inb4 that yesterday dude claiming the author did not say Merry is better than Yume.
Harufag here. All girls are fine with Barbara being the best, but Merry has too much focus in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I do like her, but I don't think she's as interesting as the other girls, so focusing so much on her bores me sometimes. The zombie battle, kobold fights and orc invasion were cool for Merry, Ranta and Moguzo development. It would be nice if Yume and Shihoru had a similar struggle that would let them shine.
Let's see if Merryfags can name one good development that happened to Yume which is consequential to the plot.
Also, if they can deny that Yume and Shihoru could have been developed more if Merry was not introduced.
I like Moguzo, but Ranta is just out right better, and isn't afraid to talk shit about anyone else being a fucking retard.
>Yume talking non-stop like a fucking spastic child
>Haru being an idiot and trying to take on too many roles
>Merry being a cunt
He didn't choose this life, but he'll be damned if he's not gonna live it as the best.
At least Haru wasn't the one saying his name.
So many Stonefang memories.
Underground mines/smelters are top places.
Ranta: First Blood Part 1
No one deserved Yume more than best boy Ranta you piece of filth
More magnificent jolly cooperation
We probably did better than Rokku no Sales since a lot of [Nip] people probably watch show and brought the LN for the girls. All three party members' character designs were fairly popular.
If there's a second season, it would be saved by
>Shihoru thanks Ranta but not Moguzo
>be noble gallant hero and challenge local wolfmen to a duel
>they fire shitty coward arrows from a distance instead
>fuck this shit, pay those furry shitheads back by throwing rubble and random shit at them
knightfag please. you already tried to get pope-sama to ban crossbows.
Probably my personal favourite episode yet.
The fight scene was absolutely beautiful, All the team work and how every spot fell perfectly into place.
Some of the background as well, I loved it!
I'm going to be really sad to see this go next week, What volume do you think there going to end on?
I'll have to pick it up from there.
Why doesn't she just keep it between her ass cheeks?
I'm sure it wouldn't complain.
I just assumed that was some unintroduced character.
Is that guy eating an apple really Moguzo?
He looks completely different, I can't him imagine him being shy and reserved like our useless tank.
Everyone has come a long way since ep. 1. They struggled to kill a single goblin and they got PTSD from the experience.
Now they genocide kobolds and kill Mery's friends with perfect combos.
>tfw you are literally
Barbara >you can go to jail if you train one of your students like that
>“Do you think it could be…” Shihoru grasped her staff even tighter, her breathing heavy. “S-skeletons?”
>“Yes,” Mary replied, stepping forward.
>“When the transformation first begins, the Curse of the Deathless King breathes false life into a corpse,” Mary explained. Skeletons are what they become when their flesh begins to rot away and fall off.”
>“It can’t be…” Haruhiro stopped, at a loss for words.
>The skeletons—the people—illuminated by the faint light of the glow blossoms, were… they were…
>There were three of them. Each of them was fully clothed and equipped with weapons and armor but their flesh, or more accurately their white and sickly-yellow bones, peeked out from underneath all their gear.
I'm rounding up a few of the better shows this season to marathon as I've not been caught up with anything lately, the art style for this has caught my eye and the plot sounds like it could be good or generic crap. Is it worth adding to the list?
>to be honest when i opened the webm just now, i didnt notice the fire either
>i didnt notice the fire either
I'm pretty sure that was posted ironically.
This season's is pretty tiny, doesn't seem to be much worth watching. My overall list however has been far too long for years, but I'm in a good patch of clearing a lot of recent shows from start to finish instead of stopping halfway and starting some other shit so I'm sort of working my way backwards by marathoning most of the good stuff that's aired recently along with some older backlogged stuff.
Thanks for your input, I'll add it to the list and start in a few days I think.
Honestly, I think this show is pretty SoL, which I found to be pretty bad for marathoning. I have always enjoyed watching SoL/comfy shows one episode every one or two days. Marathons are better for action / adventure / drama shows.
From watch I'm watching I would say
>Hai to Grimgar
should be on your list, Regardless of what /a/ says about Erased it is a worthwhile anime.
If you're pushing it
If you're desperate
Nurse Witch Komugi, Prince of Stride and Phantom World were pretty lackluster.
QT as fuck holy moly. I never fawn over 2D but jesus.
That so? I'll see how the first few episodes are then, and probably put it on the slow burner to watch a few episodes a day with along side some other show to marathon.
I'm looking to watch Erased once the last episode airs, and I just finished Konosuba which was a lot of fun. I guess with Hai to Grimgar I'm mostly set for this season, I'm enjoying stuff from a few seasons ago too like Danmachi so I think I'm set for a while, thanks for the advice.
Nothing ironic about this sex demon.
Best episode so far
>Mary being a miracle of the universe in every shot she was in
>Yume being cuteness incarnate
>MC-kun giving all over the place orders
>Ranta being Ranta, being the best lancer to MC's hero I've seen in anime
>Nigh invincible level 99 healer literally walking through puny fire in a starter area
>Putting her undead friends to rest at last by hugging them in tears
>The team actually working like a team
>Ranta being ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for his leader without blinking, as expected
Be seeing you then, sugarbumps.
A few episodes a day is definitely a decent way to go. Just remember that Grimgar is a SoL series about a bunch of shitty level 1 RPG adventurers. Despite being a LN, they aren't talented nor have some ridiculous chuuni MC-kun shit to keep them successful all the time.
According to the wikia, a demon has levels or stages of growth depending on how much Vice is given to it. At 1st stage, it's pretty much just an annoying voice that can only be summoned at night and talks shit to you. At 2nd stage, it can manifest to others and talk shit to them as a distraction. At 3rd level, it can be summoned anytime and actually physically interact with enemies. No further information is given on how powerful one can get or what one might be capable of later.
We even got to see Shihoru
clutchingher hata bunch.
>you will never pass out of heat exhaustion in a mine and wake up to a kobold girl
feeding you mouth from her mouth/
Mimorin said, sniffling. “Haruhiro, isn't cold. He just doesn't lie. He just doesn't say anything suggestive.” Mimorin bit her lip. “He just won't say anything that would give hope to me, someone he doesn't like."
“Ahhhhhh!” Anna-san plucked her hair out, face changing as if she was about to vomit blood. “Mimoriiiiin! You don't have to say it!!”
"I know, that. But that is also something I like about him. I, like him.” Mimorin said and as tears started dripping, she fixed her eyes on Haruhiro.
“Is there, any chance?”
“You said that, it was impossible for you right now. So when?”
“Uh... You mean, somewhere in the future?”
tl;dr Haru thinking too much
“...Can I be completely honest with you? No, I will. I don't know if there's a chance or not. I mean, it's in the future, right? It's not only me, no one knows what's in store for us. But right now... You're an interesting person, Mimorin. You're fun and I like talking to you, but I don't think of you as someone I want to get together with. I wanted to ask, why not just be friends? More than that right now is impossible for me. I can't say if, in some years from now I won't start thinking of you differently, but I don't want you to have any sort of expectations about that. I'm not reliable so you shouldn't count on me. And even if we assume that were to happen, you might already have a boyfriend by then, so I would have to deal with it. It's all about timing, right? I can only talk about the present. Sorry. My hands are full right now.”
"I understand. But, I still like you. Right now, I like you, Haruhiro. I can't?"
Ranta's entire existence really gets on Haru's nerves but he still sees him as his comrade. I think Ranta sees Haru as a friend, though.
He does in his head, but he also has no expectations of anyone viewing him as one.
This. It's "well, we're in this shit together, so I'll make the best of it, but fuck your stupid dream about the Wolf God and your day to day. We kill shit and keep it moving."
This is my own conjecture but I think the way Ranta treats Haru is how he would treat a friend. He's always messing around with everyone but there's something different about the way he teases Haru. Neither of them might be aware of it. It's that thing that happens when you become comfortable enough around someone to do that kind of stuff. Hard to explain.
>you can stop shitpost
I wasn't even the first person to suggest it, and it seems very plausible from the way it was presented. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a shitpost.
I compare these two with other characters that are on teammate-only terms like Zoro and Sanji and it looks to me they're doing better. At least they can talk normally sometimes and call each other by their actual names
>5 and a half heads high
>average person is 7 and a half
>head as wide as his ribcage
No, man, the proportions there are fucking shit. 170cm is nowhere near that short, if it was the average would have to be 216cm. Of fucking course he looks ridiculous.
Reminder that this happened.
And forgotten straight after.
The anime is obviously shipping Yume and Shihoru.
Like i said, its not plausible.
In the Ln she doesn't even embrace him an the others she just touch with her palm, and even the memento she took, in LN is Haru who advice her to take it in memory.
Wharever she was feeling (friendship) they remain togheter too short time (they were a beginners party).
Your assumtion are based on anime original scene an without any proof whatsoever.
In the LN there isn't one single mention about them that way.
Before making assumtion, inform yourself.
Strange pixiv seems reluctant to accept that.
That was cute but I'm going to ship these two and there's nothing the director can do about it.
I know I'm going to get shit for this, but I still ship Ranta and Haru. The way they bicker but secretly like each other makes me think so.
Not sure what's going on with Yume or Shihoru. I think Shihoru is going to take a long time before she falls for anyone again, and Yume just seems like kind of a skank if we're being honest.
Shut the fuck up if you talk about my girl Merry in a negative manner one more time you're going to have to taste the fury of my blade.
>Hey, how about we introduce a new character, make her instantly unlikable, and then spend the last five fucking episodes developing her instead of the other characters people actually like?
This series is giving me massive Vindictus feelsprobably because they both have Kobolds and goblins as the first enemies, shit that was a pretty fun game 5 years ago when it was new.
STOP TALKING BADLY ABOUT MERRY
EAT THIS. HISSATSU. TATSUMAKI HIRYAKIU
I think there's at least four of us on that boat but there might be captains commanding different ships at the same time. I know I am.
Hardly. That would be Prince of Stride.
>femdom and smelly armpits
I don't think so buddy.
>That so? I'll see how the first few episodes are then, and probably put it on the slow burner to watch a few episodes a day with along side some other show to marathon.
I got caught up on this show really fast (ten episodes in two days) and found that it stayed consistently interesting. There are some natural breaks in the story that might set the pace for you.
But you're just being intentionally negative about it, to the point of stupidity, for the sake of your intellectual pretensions.
Merry thought she'd eventually run into them, and she's their guide meaning they're taking the same paths. The Kobolds don't go to the shrine and it was a sanctuary for her party back when they were alive so it's not a stretch that the zombies would be chilling there.
None of it reeks of "how convenient!". Even if they weren't being chased they would eventually reach that floor and eventually rest at that sanctuary.
Open the door, see this. What do?
It's a definite improvement over the otome game it's based on, which they fixed by not making it otome at all. I enjoyed it but I had very few expectations going into it so I got a nice surprise when it turned out to not be complete shit. It's not AOTS or anything, but it made me laugh and hurt me and did more than I thought it would so I'll recommend it on that basis. It also refreshingly had the Nagisa-esque looking boy be not Nagisa at all and the Haru-esque boy not be a total autist.
Call it a pussy, pet it, and send it on its way.
No cutie fire mage to keep you warm at night.
It's like they want darkness to succeed.
>having several well-developed male characters
Like who? Ranta who's a huge faggot to the point where his presence alone is enough to make people drop the show? Manato who died after the first few episodes? Or the deep and intellectually interesting Moguzo?
Does anyone know what episode this is?
I'm asking because that gleeful grin at the end tells you a lot about how Ranta sees Haru.
Not in the gay sense but that they're bros enough to start messing around like that.
the end of vol7 ch11, Shihoru asks Haruhiro if he likes Mary he say no https://gensakuchuu.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/hai-to-gensou-no-grimgar-7/"One night? she was talking with Haruhiro while the others were sleeping . She told about this Elemental stuff and Haruhiro praised her for trying to come up with something by herself. This moment ends with Shihoru saying that she’ll try to say everything she wants when it is possible Only to ask Haruhiro if he liked Mary. He denied that and Shihoru accepted his answer. Hmm… I find really hard to Haruhiro start being active romantically so his answer here may bring more confusion later on. Mary’s feelings are also uncertain. Dunno if she actually likes him or not. Shihoru is also suspicious after this… Well, I do like Shihoru more but who knows what Jyumonji is going to do from now on. I was almost sure things would move slowly for Mary/Haruhiro but now anything can happen… Again lol."
[STONEFANG TUNNEL LEDGE JUMPING PTSD INTENSIFIES]
Read this summary, is more accurate and with more scene described.
>I was almost sure things would move slowly for Mary/Haruhiro but now anything can happen… Again
I have read the novels an I think this phrase is a bit exagerated.
There are hints in the course of the novels that Haru and Merry likes each others (even in this vol) but they are both socially incompetent and can't speak their feelings so there is nothing confirmed.
There are small hints towards RantaxYume but nothing confirmed.
The only hints for Shihoru is in the scene you mentioned.
We will see what happens in vol8.
I think one must read himself, because even the summary can be biased sometimes.
Here's a sample of how I plan to summarize. If people like it, I'll go with this. Just gotta figure out where to post them. Illustrations will be from the digital raws from honto I bought.
Volume 4 Prologue
>With all the orcs eliminated, everyone was able to relax. Shihoru was crying while Yume comforted her with a hug and a head rub. Merry goes to Haruhiro and checks if he can get up. He thought he’d try lying to her, saying he couldn’t, to get her to be nice to him, but he stopped. Instead, he wanted her to check on Moguzo who was just standing upright.
>It was strange for him to be standing still while everyone else was celebrating and getting their injuries looked at. He was covered in blood, his helmet wasn’t on, and he wasn’t even holding his sword.
>Then, he fell over slowly. Haruhiro calls to Moguzo, and he gets up, telling him not to scare him. Haruhiro covers his face in relief, crying into his hands. He thought he was seeing a dream. But it wasn’t. He became relieved again.
>Except, the only voice he heard was his own. He lifted his hands from his face and it was completely dark. He was in a room of the lodging house for Volunteer Soldiers. It turns out he was sleeping. He looked over to the other bunk bed, and at the top was Ranta. At the bottom, there was no one.
>Moguzo was no longer there, or anywhere.
Little late, but I thought I would brush this up.
Kobolds are from western mythic folklore. Originally they were dog-faced lizardmen.
When D&D was a thing and started using Kobolds as a race, they were described as dog-faced people. When D&D was translated in Japanese, they for some reason focused on the dog-like features and basically described them as smaller werewolves. At this point on, western Kobolds such as D&D were featured as lizardfolk who liked tow orship dragons, whereas eastern Kobolds were like werewolves who lived in the mines and such.
And hither and thither you'll see some crosses between, such as Warcraft kobolds - they are hairy rat-like mining things, for example.
Personally, I prefer eastern Kobolds over Western.
I literally explained this history of Kobolds in fantasy with a friend on campus today.
>>Moguzo was no longer there, or anywhere.
I don't like using pastebin for huge walls of text. No formatting makes it look like ass. Also, no illustrations.
I might use Google Docs. Or maybe my blog.
And that's a huge maybe.
That's even better
Anything is good as long as you're okay with it desu
What i enjoy about this anime is the level of progression. The Manato dick sucking was really pushing me away but i stuck with it and i wasnt disappointed. To think this group had issues killing a single goblin.
The equipment progression too like >>138903198

Mary looks rad
Glorious for Ranta hahaharanta says they might end up living their whole lives in night realm
proposes that they start forming couples to make children
asks kuzaku who he wants
haru glances at merii
surprised that she was gripping her knees(they were sitting) and looked like she wanted to apologize
haru thinks she felt "sorry for making you bear the full brunt of ranta's question alone"
kuzaku hesistated to answer
ranta complains about indecisiveness
says there's just 3 criteria: merii for face, shihoru for boobs, yume for mania
conversation ended with ranta begging forgiveness
kuzaku didnt have to ans
>surprised that she was gripping her knees(they were sitting) and looked like she wanted to apologize
>haru thinks she felt "sorry for making you bear the full brunt of ranta's question alone"
What did Haru answer? What happened after that?
Read this little summary
It's just Haru misunderstanding. (He think Merry and Kuzaku are dating when in reality she had rejected him)
You will never rape a cowering mage.
This is a terrible feeling.
T-thanks, anon. You ruined my evening.
>while hunting enemies, haru and merii's eyes met
>for some reason merii smiled
>haru is more conscious of merii recently
>forces himself not to think of her that way
>he cant hold special feelings to one member as the party's leader
>ranta makes joke that being near yume will make their breasts shrink
>if they worship him, they will become 1000x more erotic
>haru plays along saying if they worship ranta, >their womanlyness would irreversably reduce
>merii shouts "haru!" and looks like she wants to say something but doesnt know how
>finally hits haru on the back and says minus 1 point!
>merii wont look him in the eye
>haru thinks shes either mad or embarassed
The spaghetti is strong
does she worships aqua or something?
she is no longer too poor to buy one
>Stays behind to fight Death Spots like a cool guy.
>Even in death he's still a cool guy.
Wh-Why is this anon so mad at Merry? It's kind of frightening.
S-s-s-s-stop t-talking like t-t-t-this you FUCKING FAGGOT
>still does it after I tell him not to
Fortunately, all of those qualities may be acquired with time. However he certainly has the initiative and willingness to confront things head on that a leader should have.
I always thought that if Haru died, Ranta would have to be the one to step up as leader.
