It's a monthly with a crawling plot with little to no action every chapter. For anime standards which require action every episode for non SOL/romance series you would be blazing past the manga chapters and even then the chances of success would be abysmal. It's something no one would want to invest in given how the market works.

It could be 10/10 AOTY but it would still sell for shit compared to the costs 9/10 times. No one wants to try that.

You'll have to wait until anime adaptations start scraping the barrel and run out of LN and other manga to adapt first. So around 2020 which by then Gunka would have enough material to GOFAST pace it for 1 season.

You see, by clear logic of those who actually enjoy this manga, it's very easy to churn out 1-2 seasons for the series as an anime adaptation.

But would it sell enough to recoup the investment? Would the pitch work on the people throwing money at the studios? That's a whole different story.

Consider this, Naruto one of the faggiest series in /a/ history, could have been a completely different story if it simply focused it's detail on it's hand seals, chakra system, and made it more like a rock paper scissors / MTG system where the kids actually learned the basics and had varying metas regarding their 'decks' aka abilities instead of X-Men Ninjas where every named Shinobi is a one trick pony unless you got special eyeballs.

Do you get what I'm getting at here? Anime never takes the high road. Never.

The only way historical series can get lots of discussion is if there's a lot to speculate to begin with, but I highly doubt we'll get anything like how the chinks at baidu spam Ravages of Time threads arguing about minor details.

Well, I think people could at least make the initiative to dump the manga. There's plenty of people on /a/ who have no idea that a manga like Gunka even exists, and dumping the manga could at least encourage some more interest in it. It takes more than one thread though. When Ballroom e youkoso originally got dumped, it too got very few responses. It took quite a few threads, along with active translations for it to attract more readers where it can now actually have a small/medium discussion thread on /a/.

Lots of flavour of the month(s) manga start out that way. It's just one or two guys regularly dumping something along with it getting active translations and interest starts to snowball.

Most of the things you can discuss, require either specialized knowledge, or headcanon level imagination because Gunka is kinda weird in that sometimes you don't even know what the next chapter will be about cause there's some closure. I'd have a lot easier time discussing something like Kingdom and just pondering on who makes it out alive from the current arc.
