It's more likely because the board is too big now, back in 2007 for example, any popular show would take over the board for 24hrs after it aired. Back then the board was smaller (less pages), had less visitors by far and you could only view it paged so at times it seemed like every single thread was about the same show.

If Kill la Kill or Attack on Titan had aired back then they would have had that same huge impact I think.

Kill la Kill hype felt kinda fabricated and dull, SamFlam was where it was at.

The last time we had genuine hype on this board, as in people were honestly excited about something and not trying to make it the next Code Geass, was Madoka.

Everything else has been people egging on normalfags to try and recreate the camaraderie and excitement Code Geass had.
