It doesn't matter. However, my OPINION is that it should be watched broadcast order, since haruhi is not that good, and you need to stack the gimmicks up for it to be interesting.

Broadcast order is better because you get the fun of figuring out how the story unfolds yourself and trying to guess what happens (happened) next.

On the other hand, the literal climax scene of the chronological order is the main character buying an air conditioner. If you watch it in chronological order you'll be bored as hell, trust me on this.

Broadcast order, first season only. Totally worth it. Not worth building up much expectations for - the impact the show made had a lot to do with the specific time it came out.

If you're really itching for more afterwards, try chronological order (both seasons). If rewatching all the episodes bothers you, skip the second season entirely. It's only really worth it if you're enough of a fan that you were going to rewatch it all anyway.

Anybody who likes prefers the 2006 broadcast either pretends to live on that year or thinks artificial confusion is good. Baccano and Durarara were writtne in that way, but Haruhi wasn't so watching it some other than chronological makes you lose a lot (eg. the character development of Haruhi, one of the most important moments being related picture (which happens on an episode you are telling to skip entirely)).

it's slice of life anime but with a twist, the twist being the main girl is basically god and can contol reality but she isn't aware of it. only people who are aware are her friends who include a timetraveller, an alien and an esper. so basically they do slice of life stuff but really they're trying to damage control all the stuff that haruhi is doing

It's better to watch the series first to have better understanding of the characters. If you really don't want to, you should at least know the premise and have watched first ep of season 2 (Bamboo Leaf Syndrom).
It's only 22 episodes long if you skip Endless Eight so I'd watch it if I were you, unless you can't stomach SoLs.
