Nah, I don't care. Enjoying something more than others is always a good thing.

Personally I don't think it's lackluster at all. Visuals are still by far the best of the season, direction is still by far the best of the season as par the course with any Kyoani show. Its just gimped by mediocre source material and unambition since Kyoani itself is moving to a bigger building and working on KnK and Hibike S2 very soon. The episodic comedic nature helps the god tier direction to shine through since they don't have to follow the plot as much.

That's mostly how I felt too but not in a good way. It felt like it had no clear idea on what kind of series it wanted to commit to being and comes off like it was trying to sell itself based solely on the nice animation and character designs while everything else about it was bland and half hearted. Episodic series aren't bad, but you need to make the plot of each episode interesting, which they weren't for the most part. And if you are going to do that thing where you are building up a plot in the background that ties things together, you need to sprinkle hints and reminders of it across the season. Not just drop a blatant plot hook into the characters lap in the beginning and ignore it until the very end.

It wasn't the worst of the season, but outside of it looking pretty it was a top contender for blandest.

I didn't expect anything of the show, since it was the first time I heard about it, I actually liked the first 4 episodes, the premise was interesting and the inmersion was well done, but after that it went full retarded. The time traveling become a plot device of the worst kind, it never got any kind of explanation except for "lol, it just happens", the characters acted according to the author needs instead of reacting according to the situation, he tried to make his story to make sense instead of making a story that make sense. The whole magic 15 years coma was complete bullshit, it's like he run out of ideas and rushed an ending that for the spoilers I read, make no fucking sense, but we will see once the last episode air.
I keep reading that the manga is actually good and the adaptation is complete shit, but I don't really feel like reading the manga after this fiasco.
And why you exactly think it's good? Because the mystery? Leaving every episode in suspense doesn't make it a good mystery series. Or is it that it looks pretty? Yeah, I have to admit that it got nice visuals, but what else?

Yeah the suspense was nice. As for qualms about the story, I know what you mean. I guess it doesn't bother me as much because though the story is interesting, seeing the characters interact was what made it for me. I get why people cry NTR, what with Kayo and Satoru's hnnnnng interactions, but again I wasn't expecting much in romance. As for the forced characters thing, I can only think of Airi. She is a very contrived character, but again this was only her.

So in short, I think it has interesting characters, a suspenseful story that doesn't delve into unnecessary stuff (if Satoru is the chosen one, I would much rather just roll with it than have some long ass explanation about why he is the chosen one), great visuals, good music, and because every other anime I watched was just bad to decent. It doesn't need a long ass explanation, but the point that it was used in the more convenient moments just because, made it feel forced and stupid, the first episode was interesting with the revival thing, but that was dropped almost inmediately, again the author not knowing what to do with his own story.

I was looking forward to Dagashi but it fell flat. It has good visuals and soundtrack but the direction isnt good. The manga delivers the jokes better.

Grimgar had the best art and was eye candy for me even though animation wasn't much fluid.
Prince of Stride and Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm did the right thing excluding romance shit from the original and focusing on sports.
Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu lacked without romance and had too much drama, I liked episodes about the production and working hard though. Characters interraction and better Yukinoshita are done well there.
Marshmallow odjisan should have had longer episodes.
Akagami was still cute, comfy and boring.

I didn't say anything negative about the premise of the show, I was fine with it. I just didn't like the comedy. The comedy wasn't exactly the whole show but more so it was one of it's main points which I couldn't care for. Galko's character interactions were cute and is what kept me watching but listening to similar jokes every time is what made me stop.

Not becase it is bad, not at all; but because the flashback episodes turned into a flashback show, and considering that there are only two more episodes to go and that one of them will still not get to the point in time where it started off, I can hardly see the original story get any kind of statsifying closure, unless they make some sort of a sequel.

Surprise: I was surprised how entertained I was by Schwarzesmarken, not so much because it is particulary great, but still more entertaining than I thought it would be.

Best ED: I really like both Dagashi Kashi and Boku Dake

Other Thoughts: If it wouldn't have been for Rakugo, it wouldn't really have been particulary noteworthy, save for maybe Sekko Boys, which deserves a shoutout for being a really nice short comedy.

Most anticipated: Joker Game, I really dig historical settings, although I'm not sure if I'll end up liking it.

Not even close. Grimgar was pleasantly surprising because it took a tired genre and tried to take a serious and methodical approach to it, with a character-driven narrative and a lot of focus on the emotions and feelings and dynamics of those characters.

It's a disappointment because it fell flat and failed to accomplish what its first few episodes set out to do, instead just becoming bland and uninteresting. The character animation of the first few episodes was phenomenal, but when the animation quality inevitably dipped hard in the middle of the season, the directing style didn't and remained chocked full of closeups and detailed profile shots that no longer had the detail or movement to look like anything other than shit. It's as big of a disappointment as S2 of Log Horizon and looked about as bad.
