Anime is very well directed, with an amazing soundtrack, great animation, and is both faithful and a complete adaptation. The only thing it doesn't cover is pretty much an epilogue that the manga has. I'd go with the anime.

The author could have easily given the director the script for the rest of the manga. It's pretty much a 1:1 adaption so it all comes down to whatever medium you like more.

Both aren't all that great, but it's worth watching the anime for the fantastic soundtrack.

The anime ran for 6 months which is why you're probably getting confused. It's indeed a complete adaptation.
