Was Captain Earth the most pointless anime ever made?
>>
Glasslip exists.
>>
I'd give that title to Comet Lucifer. CE had very good characters, but it didn't do anything with them.
>>
Holy cow!

I wouldn't say it's pointless.

I liked Captain Earth

Well they haven't made an anime about you yet so yes.

>I'd give that title to Comet Lucifer. CE had very good characters, but it didn't do anything with them.
CE is unusual in that it would have been okay if they made it 1 cour. The fact is the existing story was clearly NOT substantial enough for 26 episodes. And to make it worse, most of the character development of the villains, who are really the only characters who are interesting, was explained only in a monthly manga. They were running out of story to tell and yet they are cutting out plot? Something went horribly wrong. Why was it even 26 episodes long anyway?
>>
>>138740477
Kill la Kill exists, so...
>>
>>138741620
Really? I had the opposite impression. Captain Earth to me felt like it would have been good if they made it 4 cour. The whole show feels like it's trying to fit 50 episodes worth of content in just 2 cours, and cutting out a lot of things. If they had a better idea on what to focus on and what to cut out, it could've made a good 26 episode anime though, but they didn't.

On the contrary, I feel each episode only had half the usual amount of content of a typical anime. Yes, there are a lot of gaps in information, but it isn't due to a lack of time. Instead the show had pacing that was just too slow, and they deliberately just omit plot-relevant information because they refused to show them.

Delicious brown.

I think I watched it somwhere up to first cour then it just sorta fell apart with me.

Without spoilers, was the ending good?

I didn't mind the pacing, and it's not really about the information given. The show didn't have enough time to develop all of the Planetary Gears, some of them were completely shafted of any presence after their introduction. That could've been remedied if they scrapped the uninteresting Salty Dog plotlines, but if they had more episodes they could've done both. The Flare Engine was their coolest mecha but it only had one episode to shine because the plot had to move forward. PAC's plot at the end was very poorly developed and a bit out of nowhere, if they had more episodes they could've spread it out more.

The ending itself was alright, the finale as a whole was a great spectacle though.

Did you get to the Bugbear arc? Easily the best two episodes of the show, you should definitely watch at least that.
>>
Not enough mecha battle.

Captain Earth wasn't that bad.
Pacing was shit but the characters were nice and the action fun.
Remove Salty Dog and you've got something at least 50% better.

They had the time. They just decided they don't matter and left the story to the manga. And the ironic thing is that they didn't develop the protagonists either. So we end up with nothing. The entire backstory of how Planetary Gears became humans was written, but it was almost completely removed from the anime because reasons.

It's also have Vita game. Developer probably didn't really burn money since it is a VN but still pointless. Who's going to buy a game from a shit anime?
>>
>>138740477
No, but reminding me that I watched it is not very nice.

But yeah, it was a case of BONES being BONES and being too inept to handle anything they ever do.

They had too many villains and neglected to actually do a damn thing with any of them.

also PUCK did nothing wrong; he just wanted to give christmas keikis the dick and become a delicious white-haired domme chocolate girl

The first three episodes hook you in hard.
Then the pacing goes to shit, characters had no development, villains were shoved to the side after their intro like some monster of the week type shit, and we still don't know what those tiny little animals are.
>>
The first ahlf was okay until it decided midway through to focus on the villains than not resolve anything

It had the proper length. The only thing they needed to do was removing the pointless Salty Dogs and their stupid "Impacter of the week", and spend that time in properly developing the MCs and the Planetary Gears. The result would have been much more solid.
>>
>>138741848

The ending sucked.Everything leading up to the ending was the same quality as the rest of the show, then the ending itself just sucked. Soured everything about the show.
