Well, Tamers kinda is the best since it goes into pretty dark adult-oriented themes a lot of kids go through growing up. That makes it really stand out from the rest.

After all it's the same guy who wrote/produced Serial Experiments Lain. That's probably what turned off the more younger viewers and faded the franchise into obscurity.

Actually that's factually incorrect Tamers did really well in Japan (overall better than 02 actually), However the ratings dropped drastically with Frontier which in hindsight may not have even been Frontier's fault. At the same time in America it was decided during 02's airing that Tamers would be the last season of Digimon to Air on Fox.

Saban had actually decided to sell it's property to Disney BEFORE Tamers aired. So in reality neither Tamers or Frontier are at fault for anything.

Threads like this make me think I'm the only guy who liked Frontier. I get that people hated the fact that there weren't any partner digimon, but the villains were all great (esp Ranamon) and I liked that they actually got around to world building for the series going forward by introducing shit like the dark zone and the royal knights (although some of their choices for members from previously established digimon bother me).

I think it just gets hated on for trying something different.

The ones they used for frontier were kind of forced on at the end but Lucemon ended up being great and when they actually ran with the concept of the royal knights and Yggdrasil in savers it made sense.

To be fair it would have been better if they saved them for savers altogether and used something else for Lucemon (I get Dynasmon and Lordknightmon are assholes but I didn't get why they were working for Lucemon in the first place) but I do like that they were trying to establish connectivity between series. Now id only we'd get more of Azulongmon, Ebonwumon, etc....

Frontier wasn't bad, nor all that good either since no digipartners didn't give it much room for character growth.
Marathoning it became a huge chore by the second half but the finale arc was great since this kid didn't fuck around.

The animation is generally pretty good. Some of the episodes are a bit iffy, but overall it's significantly better than most of the animation from Adventure and 02. The music is great too, especially the 2 evolution themes.

For me it went wrong with Tamers. Couldn't stand it as a kid. Still haven't watched it. Probably should, so I can tell you all why it still sucks.

Frontier won me back though.

Honestly I like all of it to some degree.

I think that was the important part. It's the same reason Adventure was good. Kids' shows should have moral ties to reality and not empty ideals, IMO.
