Reasonable. A lot of reasoning was mind games in the show.
But there is still a ton of flaws.

Because it's impossible to realistically catch a smart death note so the anime had to make a ton of logic leaps to advance the plot and give L a chance.

Basically this. The largest leap is just assuming some kind of outside magic is the cause. Realistically, Kira could have kept killing with impunity and no one the wiser, forever.

Pretty much this, though L's reason for doing it was mostly because he wanted a "total victory."

L pretty much knew "Kira = Light" without much time. Yet to him, it wouldn't have been much of a challenge/victory to just detain him and investigate things from there.
