Anime is pretty neato until the third season where they ran out of money and fucked it all up. It was supposed to be 26 episodes or some shit and got compounded into 2 episodes. Also there really is no canon ending as school rumble Z is said to not be canon, so lots of things are left up in the air. I would still say anime though.

Not quite, it was a phantom season, wherein they would post a synopsis of what the alleged episode was about on their website (taken from the manga chapters they would've had to cover to get to the end at the speed they did), and it was only the 'final' two episodes that were actually animated.

I think they did that because they saw what sort of trainwreck was coming and didn't want to actually spend any money on a series that was about to die in a terrible fashion.
