Get in here!
Welcome to the pokemon center!
Quite interesting take on how each race doesnt really get the age of different races.
What a dead thread.
The chapter was pretty cool. It's nice to get to know what the overworld is like. And I loved the "resurrection center". Would be nice to see this animated some day.
Also, she's cute.
Also it seems the soul is still tethered to the body even if it is removed from the dungeon.
And that's that.
While we didnt get wacky adventures it was nice to see some worldbuilding.
The island was a contested territory for a long time.
The dungeon boosted the island's economy but the races' higher-ups have more than wealth on their mind.
We also know how death works and the infrastructures that popped up because of it.
Now I'm really curious on how you repair a broken petrified person, do you have to put it back together in the person's shape or just gather them up in a bundle and the spell will do the rest.
This manga is so great. The whole lore and worldbuilding is top notch. And it's comfy too.
Probably as long as the body hasnt lost too much original form it doesent matter much for the spell to work. A cut up body isnt bad but a burnt up one is because the original form has changed too much.
>immortality consists of eating the sorcerer
I can actually see this happening, the mad sorceror became a monster of some sort and when they defeat him and cookd him they gain immortality by accident, they could also accidentaly destroy the means of gaining immortality, becoming legends to the other adventurers as the party that goes around the dungeon eating monsters
>all this lore
>a surface chapter
This is such a nice change of pace, the art's comfy and it's such a nice balance of comedy/fantasy.
>A massive war between the human, elves and dwarves break out on the island surface for the key to immortality
>The party just continue eating their way through the dungeon, finally returning to the surface only to find death and destruction and no one to ressurect the sister
That would be amazing.
I see, so the danger is the piece going missing not the petrification itself, thanks.
Anyways, I'm happy to get a new chapter but sad to have to wait another month to see the old gang.
Dungeon Meshi is really influenced by Wizardry. Too bad early Wizardry games don't seem like much fun to play for me.
Probably, if spells are inventible then there's going to be spells for everything eventually.
I'd say this chapter seems to be setup/groundwork for what'll happen plotwise after the party saves Laius' sister so the manga doesn't have to end there.
For the last few chapter threads people have been wondering about what'll happen after they save her.
I'm glad that we got a chapter like this as now I'd be surprised if it ended after the Red Dragon.
do you think this is the Laius that the MC is named after?
I wonder if the mangaka just chose that name because Laius was a mythological hero, or if Meshi Laius's story will end up bearing a stronger resemblance to Greek Laius?
I wonder, if resurrection only works in dungeon because the soul doesn't fly of, why people on this world don't bring their people when is about to die (either after an accident or disease or age) to the dungeon and resurrect them the moment they expire? That would be pretty close to inmoortality isn't it?
Pretty nice side-chapter. Getting a better picture of the world outside the dungeon's welcome.
Dead good of Namari to treat those two. I wonder if the author thought Namari seemed a bit cold for leaving the group once Farlyn was lost, so they're making a point of showing that she does care about others
After they save Farlyn, I want a timeskip of 4 years.
The governor of the island and his gnome advisers have become increasingly concerned by the horrific tales of half starved adventurers stumbling out of the dungeon. Of a madman who has set himself up as a demi-god, capturing monsters and adventurers alike, killing and eating some, raising others as cattle to be killed and served as food in lavish feasts.
They charge a battle weary human by the name of Willard to travel into the dungeon and assassinate this threat with extreme prejudice. This is the story of their descent into the hear of Darkness.
I liked this chapter. I wasn't excited first but it ended up very interesting.
She is talking about the Tances I think.
>Now listen here, people die when they're killed
Do you think they're going to eat the dungeon master too?
I'm confused about femdwarf. Is she just a comrade-abandoning cunt or was the elf really just projecting some feeling of brotherhood onto her party that never existed in the first place? Is there really a need to save the dude's sister so urgently as the party's actions would suggest, or is it perfectly fine to just wait around for the corpse to pop up as the dwarf is doing? Why is she even expecting the corpse to pop up when in the same chapter she talks about the difficulties of reviving a burnt or shattered person? She knows the girl is currently digesting.
Agreed. I actually kind of did an image related when I saw this page's first panel: >>138624644
I know she's totally dumpy in human terms but for a dwarf she's pretty cute.
the fuck am I talking about
I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream; that's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor... and surviving.
>I wonder if the author thought Namari seemed a bit cold for leaving the group once Farlyn was lost
I think that's clear, she left a really bad impression in the first chapter so since she returned the author's "humanized" her a lot, and even the samurai dude.
>I wonder, if resurrection only works in dungeon because the soul doesn't fly of, why people on this world don't bring their people when is about to die (either after an accident or disease or age) to the dungeon and resurrect them the moment they expire? Because it wouldn't really fix anything- you'd most likely die again if you left the dungeon.
I'm just piecing together their resurrection rules, but a lot of it is about shoving the soul back into the body and then fixing the damage and so forth, but if you die of old age we can only assume that your body is just too aged, broken down and fucked up for you to keep on trucking and contain your soul.
If you died of old age and got resurrected it'd be like hitting the snooze button; you'd probably just fucking die again in like 30 minutes.
What a disappointing chapter for reaction images.
seeing the twin in a dress was also cute
i wonder if namari has a point though. in the beginning of the series it did seem like they were in a trance. laius didn't seem to care that much that his party has been wiped out.
maybe there is some spell lurking down there.
Starving adventurers from the deeper levels full with treasure try to reach the surface again and get killed by weak shit on the higher levels, because they're too weak from being malnourished from spending weeks in the deeper levels.
They become possessed by spirits, wander around, spread the treasure they accumulated from the lower levels everywhere, and newbie-adventurers kill the former experienced adventurers and get some of their treasure.
It might be an heirloom and or she just feels defenseless and vulnerable without it.
many laffs were had lad.
I think she's just more of a mentality with Chilchak.
You get paid for a job, you do the job. Your reputation is important. When they left the dungeon originally their "contract was up" so to speak. They might have promised to join their current groups when they returned to the surface next. So gearing up for another trek down would look very bad on them to those who might be waiting for them.
"You're back, but you're not joining us as you said you would? You aren't as reliable as thought."
That's just my sense of things. There's little hard evidence.
Marcille's not wrong in her sentiments though. They totally did abandon them in a time of need. But Chilchak would've done it too, had his own contract time been up.
Kilchak's just acting cool but he doesn't mean it. If he wanted to opt out he'd absolutely be able to, he did not sign up for this shit.
Temari may have had another contract already though, it seems she and Samurai had their differences with Laius even before the wipe, but I think half of it is a small retcon.
>really hot but prude as fuck mage party member girl gets possessed by nympho noblewoman's ghost
>becomes a total horny bitchslut to her party members post resurrection
It's doujin material.
Laius and his party seem to be well known, at least in the bars and res temple.
I'm curious what his reputation is like, well before the stories of him being unhinged and eating everyone start to surface.
Wich kind of dish would you bully Marcielle with?
Probably the first time I've felt that there's too much exposition relative to character interactions. I don't like it when it feels like characters are talking in order to inform the reader about the world but Mr. Tance was doing a bit of that.
Not a huge deal overall.
I would send her to the JK Meshi universe. Just when she though that everything is over...
This is interesting. We have received a lot of background information about the different races of the setting but we heard nothing about dark elves. The only representative of that race so face is the most likely candidate to be the mad sorceror. The elves are laying a claim over the dungeon and magic glyphs are identified as elven but still no mention about darkies.
The twins are 100% fucking each other.
That was nice. Thanks for dumping.
The politics section leaves a lot of room for a continued story. I hope we're back to frogs vs. dragon next chapter.
But he is pretty.
Just very very warped on the inside.
I like everything about this manga.
I wonder when that samurai guy is going to show up. He's definitely up to something. Maybe he went straight away to the gnomes and paid them a hefty gold fee for using their portal painting?
what >>138632854 said.
also, in case of sick bodies, the fixing from resurrection spell only applies to "flesh" wounds; healing magic probably can only take care of basic negative effects, like poison and such. any other more complicated illnes from the body will still remain, and then you will die again.
That's why they're looking for the immortality spell, and even then, this spell can (and probably will) be tricky, it could turn you into stone, or it could transform you into a dragon, or one of the many beasts that lurks inside the dungeon, respawning forever. stuff like that.
>one of the many beasts that lurks inside the dungeon, respawning forever
I don't think they respawn. They're part of an ecosystem, one that depends on small-scale adventuring, but overharvesting is ruining the newbie-friendly levels.
It was her first time going through a portal such as that.
That's probably the only reason why though it might be dwarf related.
Senshi's aversion is personality based. The reason why magic didn't work on him was because he was too oily/dirty for the waterwalk spell. It sounds more like it's a chaos vs order issue. That is to say it had nothing to do with his opinion of magic.
Namari is probably as clean as any other adventurer.
/tg/ once explained it better than I can remember and said, that in a lot of myths hair is part of someones magical power. It's the dirtiness of Senshins hair that stops the magic from affecting him.
It would probably devastate Marcille if she had to cut her hair off because of the coagulated blood. Good thing the hood didn't stick.
It has nothing to do with dwarves.
tumblr nose is just "their thing" and they think they're special by drawing something ugly. Truth is, it's ugly. That's why no one else with any sense draws with it.
The only upside I can consider for it is that it's ugly enough that most are unwilling to copy it. So it's like easymode DRM if it's your "style" like that faggot that posts comics in leddit and frontpages constantly.
sage and spoilered because off topic
>be an adventurer
