While we didnt get wacky adventures it was nice to see some worldbuilding.
The island was a contested territory for a long time.
The dungeon boosted the island's economy but the races' higher-ups have more than wealth on their mind.
We also know how death works and the infrastructures that popped up because of it.

I'd say this chapter seems to be setup/groundwork for what'll happen plotwise after the party saves Laius' sister so the manga doesn't have to end there.

For the last few chapter threads people have been wondering about what'll happen after they save her.

The governor of the island and his gnome advisers have become increasingly concerned by the horrific tales of half starved adventurers stumbling out of the dungeon. Of a madman who has set himself up as a demi-god, capturing monsters and adventurers alike, killing and eating some, raising others as cattle to be killed and served as food in lavish feasts.

They charge a battle weary human by the name of Willard to travel into the dungeon and assassinate this threat with extreme prejudice. This is the story of their descent into the hear of Darkness.

Because it wouldn't really fix anything- you'd most likely die again if you left the dungeon.

I'm just piecing together their resurrection rules, but a lot of it is about shoving the soul back into the body and then fixing the damage and so forth, but if you die of old age we can only assume that your body is just too aged, broken down and fucked up for you to keep on trucking and contain your soul.

If you died of old age and got resurrected it'd be like hitting the snooze button; you'd probably just fucking die again in like 30 minutes.

Starving adventurers from the deeper levels full with treasure try to reach the surface again and get killed by weak shit on the higher levels, because they're too weak from being malnourished from spending weeks in the deeper levels.
They become possessed by spirits, wander around, spread the treasure they accumulated from the lower levels everywhere, and newbie-adventurers kill the former experienced adventurers and get some of their treasure.

You get paid for a job, you do the job. Your reputation is important. When they left the dungeon originally their "contract was up" so to speak. They might have promised to join their current groups when they returned to the surface next. So gearing up for another trek down would look very bad on them to those who might be waiting for them.

"You're back, but you're not joining us as you said you would? You aren't as reliable as thought."

That's just my sense of things. There's little hard evidence.

Marcille's not wrong in her sentiments though. They totally did abandon them in a time of need. But Chilchak would've done it too, had his own contract time been up.

Probably the first time I've felt that there's too much exposition relative to character interactions. I don't like it when it feels like characters are talking in order to inform the reader about the world but Mr. Tance was doing a bit of that.

This is interesting. We have received a lot of background information about the different races of the setting but we heard nothing about dark elves. The only representative of that race so face is the most likely candidate to be the mad sorceror. The elves are laying a claim over the dungeon and magic glyphs are identified as elven but still no mention about darkies.

also, in case of sick bodies, the fixing from resurrection spell only applies to "flesh" wounds; healing magic probably can only take care of basic negative effects, like poison and such. any other more complicated illnes from the body will still remain, and then you will die again.
That's why they're looking for the immortality spell, and even then, this spell can (and probably will) be tricky, it could turn you into stone, or it could transform you into a dragon, or one of the many beasts that lurks inside the dungeon, respawning forever. stuff like that.

I don't think they respawn. They're part of an ecosystem, one that depends on small-scale adventuring, but overharvesting is ruining the newbie-friendly levels.

Senshi's aversion is personality based. The reason why magic didn't work on him was because he was too oily/dirty for the waterwalk spell. It sounds more like it's a chaos vs order issue. That is to say it had nothing to do with his opinion of magic.
