Would Oliva have won the Maximum Tournament?
He would have been able to beat Baki I think without question - Baki only barely beat him in prison, and that was after he'd leveled up some more. Likewise, Jack was beat by Baki, so Oliva could have beat him, too.
On the other hand, suppose Oliva ran into Gouki in the brackets - he "lost" to him when they fought later, because judo kind of hard-counters Oliva's brute force style.
Or what if he'd had to deal with Retsu's chinese kungfu-bullshit?
A fight with Hanayama would have been interesting - if Hanayama does his "explode your arm" thing, can Oliva just manipulate his muscles to negate it?
Yo, I don't know if any of you noticed, but some faggot got the SpinyBack website marked as Web Forgery (at least on Firefox). I doubt that's enough to make Spiny quit yet (so long as he can get it fixed), but all I can say is he's really pissed about people fucking with the website and probably getting close to doing so.
If anybody knows an easy way to get rid of that fright-tag, it would be much appreciated.
Fucking pieces of shit.
I got around it by googling the site and choosing another option different to the homepage.
Firefox gives you the option to counter-report too, which I already did, but I don't know how effective it is.
We did the same shit too, but I don't know if we can get Firefox to remove it easily. I doubt they particularly trust owners of websites that have been reported enough to be marked.
>tfw haven't watched the Baki anime and getting more chapters
This is so refreshing, I finally got to see who Gaia is. I guess reading the other Baki stuff spoiled me a bit but I don't mind.
Watch the anime. It's not nearly as bad as people say it is. It'll be a long time before we reach Maximum Tournament and the rest, you know?
Here's Strydum wearing Dorian's shirt for some reason.
Oliva would be immune to Hanayama's pressure. He's too strong. Yujiro could counter it by just flexing his muscles slightly and this was back when the series was hinting that Oliva and Yujiro were roughly even, since Yujiro chickened out on a fight with Oliva when he was younger and Oliva kept training after that.
The dumbest thing they ever did was the Yujiro vs Oliva segment where he just totally ruined Oliva on every level. Yujiro was always shown to be strong but he was also brutally efficient and was a combat master. Him being stronger than Oliva shouldn't have been brute force.
Maximum Tournament was good, you nerd.
>The dumbest thing they ever did was the Yujiro vs Oliva segment where he just totally ruined Oliva on every level. Yujiro was always shown to be strong but he was also brutally efficient and was a combat master. Him being stronger than Oliva shouldn't have been brute force.
The point was to show that Oliva didn't have any combat skills. Remember way back when, where Yuujiro flipped Kuriyagawa on his finger? I interpreted it like that. A display of impossibly greater force. That's why they did the glove thing and strength competition instead of Yuujiro just beating him into the earth. It also served as a foreboding sign: even if Oliva is the second or third strongest person in the world, there's a huge gap between those numbers.
He doesn't get wrecked at all, spoiler, or whatever. It's kind of implied he just left after Musashi imagine-slashes him.
Okay I can't figure this part out - why is Itagaki investing so much into Motobe?
His role up to this point has been primarily the fight commentator, and occasionally he does fight to help the readers establish the power rankings.
And then all of a sudden he disrupts previously established the power rankings and started trolling people left and right, including Jack Hammer.
And Itagaki expects us to swallow this with the explanation - "he was holding back all along"
What the hell?
Most fights so far didn't involve weapons; for instance, he'd be destroyed in the 5 prisoners grapple, because the rule on weapons was "carry nothing, use anything you find on the spot".
He doesn't believe that his mother was murdered. That's why Yuujiro didn't answer him when he demanded to know why Emi had to die.
>Most fights so far didn't involve weapons; for instance, he'd be destroyed in the 5 prisoners grapple, because the rule on weapons was "carry nothing, use anything you find on the spot".
Uhhh, no. That's something Doppo said about Shinshinkai Karate specifically. Speck had a fucking gun, Dorian had half a nuclear arsenal in his stomach, Doyle was plastered in weapons, Yanagi had his kusarifundo. In reality, the only one that didn't try to kill anyone significant with a weapon was Sikorsky. And I'm assuming you didn't read the manga? Yanagi fights Motobe, both of them had weapons.
>His role up to this point has been primarily the fight commentator
Meaning he knows and understands the mechanics of all of the arts seen in Kourakuen.
>And then all of a sudden he disrupts previously established the power rankings and started trolling people left and right, including Jack Hammer.
>And Itagaki expects us to swallow this with the explanation - "he was holding back all along"
It's explicitly stated that Motobe went back into the mountains to do intense physical training. He didn't catch up to the main cast, he simply got close enough to overwhelm them with expert weapon usage. That was the whole point of the conversation with Baki in his dojo.
It's something he says about grappling as a whole, all the good guys do that and they make it a point that the prisoners were """cheating""". Motobe was pretty much an outsider.
He says it's their karate. Go check the raws if you want. Nobody says anything about cheating.
Strydum gives Doyle shit for using explosives against Kosho and that he is not a real grappler and that shit like that won't work against Yujiro
Then in the next series Strydum tries to use explosives against Yujiro
The dumbest thing they ever did was the Yujiro vs Oliva segment where he just totally ruined Oliva on every level.
Wrong, killing Retsu was the dumbest thing to happen. I swear to fucking god if Tokugawa doesn't clone and revive him im done.
Just finished catching u to the latest drr season.Could this guy beat baki?
Yujiro wasn't looking at him, and was in a rage because of Motobe repeatedly said he was going to protect him (the last time with a particularly offensive phrasing).
Remember how Musashi provokes the people he's fighting? Motobe is mirroring him, showing us that even the strongest characters can be tricked. They can't be beaten by just a trick, but what about a trick used by a strong opponent? They can be placed at a disadvantage.
>Yujiro was in Vietnam for fuck's sake.
He never got caught or injured or anything of the sort. He survived bombings/napalm by not being hit by them. He may know hundreds of modern military tricks because of that experience, but why would he expect a smoke bomb? None of the major characters have heard Motobe even acknowledge that he possesses such tricks.
>killing Retsu was the dumbest thing to happen
It was the most important thing to happen. The characters finally realize that their activities are at lives' stakes.
Some fighters could potentially be a threat to him through sheer skill - primarily Shibukawa but possibly Retsu as well.
Other than that Oliva would stomp everyone in the tournament.
motobe's a shitter, stop talking out your ass.
you know hanayama style sheer will gonna prevail in the end
No. It was the one with Shibukawa vs Doppo, Baki vs Jack, Katsumi vs Hanayama, etc.
By the way, I got bored, so I went back to check up on several more of the things that were horribly mistranslated by Wild Fang. This page is a PRIME example of just blatant lies and making shit up. This is almost irrefutable proof that their "translator" was just Google Translate.
I don't have the raw of this specific page on hand, but I do have another few raws that tell the same story. I will post that next. It was not another familial figure - as some of you anime viewers might know - that saved the Hanayama family. I'll translate the raw pages that I'll post next.
>One night of lodging.
>By chance, [it] compelled a traveling gambler...
>Choked [from the smoke/fire] to an extreme and with the smell of blood filling the air, he fled from the grounds.
>Yet, there was an infant.
>This family's only child.
>Hanayama Yakichi was rescued.
>With the burden of creating a temple(sanctuary) from a bell, and covering this only child...
>[He] withstood a storm of drawn blades from a horde.
>"I (he uses 'wagami') am a shield for Yakichi, and I will protect him until the very end.................."
So yeah, absolutely fucking nothing like Wild Fang translated it as. I honestly want to re-translate the second and first half of the third series because of this, but I don't think I have the time, nor a cleaner, nor some other shit. Maybe I'll try to do one every 2 weeks or something? I dunno.
or whatever the counter for pages is, I didn't actually look it up
>tfw will never get badass traditional style Japanese tattoo
Reminder that Musashi, the absolute madman, has slapped Pickle on his fucking face already, in a room, with Gorou and Albert.
*teleports behind you*
*stabs you with knife*
probably just to make them understand that an expert at using traditional weapon is something that they are not used to
he might be a person of many tricks, but he probably want what ultimately is the best for them
>So what exactly IS Motobe trying to accomplish here?
Long story short, Motobe was actually hot shit through all the series but he never even tried, Musashi got resuscitated and since apparently he's the only one who can deal with his bullshit since nobody else but him in the series knows how to use weaponry, he decided to protect everyone from Musashi
(yes, even Yujiro) by ninja trolling the shit out of them.
>Long story short, Motobe was actually hot shit through all the series but he never even tried,
>This guy is 100% gonna be killed when he challenges musashi.
Yeah no shit.
Unless it's something like
>"Ninja were always natural enemies of the samuari, it's no surprise Musashi is unable to deal with Fucboi.".
Memetobe will never die, Itagaki is having too much fun with him.
It just wasn't enough to knock him out.
I love Jack but I love the butthurt Motobe's memes caused more.
