I believe that happens in the third ln, which is right after the anime ends. I stopped reading them after the fourth one though because the plot moved pretty slowly and there really weren't any change in any of the characters. The only thing that changed was that Lucifer became less of a neet and actually started helping out a bit.

Maou was never actually evil in that kind of way. He was a ruler of the Demons and the Demons were all around handed a shit hand by the rest of the world. He spent a few centuries uniting all the tribes together, building up their civilization and all around being a great ruler to them. Once he achieved that though, the demons needed more land and resources so they went to war with the other continents.

Of course eventually the guy started losing sight of his initial goal and enjoying the conquest of the humans but his initial goals were very good. It took him being forced back into a powerless state for him to start remembering his true goals and stuff. This comes out more in the 3rd and later volumes after Alas Ramus is added to the cast.

He declares Emi as one of his new generals and really wants her to take the job because he wants someone by his side that can keep him on the right track.

About his feelings for her, he's comfortable about her and Alas Ramus. It's mentioned that being around the two of them make him feel truly relaxed and not think about his plans and other things.

About Emi's feelings, she accepted that she likes the guy in volume 8 or 9 I believe. She's still acting tsun about it with him in person though she's started to enjoy teasing him. She's also working for MgRonalds now as his underling since she got fired from the call center for an extended unexplained absence.

Also Suzuno confessed to Maou and got turned down too, happened in volume 10 I think, might have been 9.

You can always just read the LNs, volumes 3 through 8 are translated and 9 is at 65% now. Considering translation speed though, probably at least a month if not two months for 9 to be done though.

As far as I read (only first 4 novels) it didn't even have an impact on them. They continue to tolerate each other but not really anything more than that.

To add something he did start the invasion only cause the demons feed on negative emotions and since he stopped the civil wars he was forced to fight the humans armies. The church was the one who killed all the civilians and blamed the demons.
Emi's father got saved by her mother and is on earth too.

Don't worry, Emi and Maou are already going at it in the LN. Emi and Maou stopped being tsundere for each other after a shocking relvation was broght to light for Emi when she overheard Maou's conversation that basically said he was being tsundere/a Maou for Emi's sake.

Lots of emotions and feelings began moving and the usual stuff happened, and well Emi is now in derederee (fatal error mode) and Maou is aware of it since Emi expressed it to him. Maou finds a weak Emi awkward since he always admired the strong hero Emi as opposed to a weak one, but it plays out that it's something Maou will get used to and accept.

The story is frankly LN quality but I enjoyed the show a lot. The comedy was the good part.
