Only the Sea King arc fits this description. The S class heroes were handling themselves well enough in battle during the Alien Invasion arc and for the good amount of the Monster Association arc until when things got hectic towards the end and ,of course, Monster Garou appears. And as of now in the story we have this internal conflict between the Psycho sisters.

Theres your problem. If you don't like OPM, thats fine, but it isn't meant to be exiting at the battles. Those are more visually entertaining than anything.

OPM is mostly comedy. Hate it or like it, the praise and criticism it should get is about that side, because the action is just a nice complement.

Every character in OPM is more or less a typical shounen character, with mostly bland motivations. It would be a generic ass shounen, but then the context for all the characters change just by the introduction of one person. Thats the point of Saitama's power: turn around the meaning of all the cast, because he is something totally alien to their world.

You can see this better at:

Which isn't the only source of humor in the series. Did the you somehow miss the monologue scene with Genos mocking overly long exposition and tragic backstories in anime? The slaptick antics in the Beast King fight. Genos's overly servile attitude towards Saitama. etc. The quirky personalities and interaction of heroes and the villains introduced later in the series like King or Black Sperm. Stop parroting this tired "lol One Joke Man Xd" shit.

I was more getting at the point that it sounds like a child is squabbling about why they don't like OPM when at its core it's never been a battle shounen based on fighting. It's more about the conflict between 'heroes' and Saitama's hijinks to crawl up the ranks, despite being the strongest man alive.

It's obvious Saitama will destroy a meteor, take out the Sea Race wiping out a city and an Alien Race coming to wipe out Humanity, but it's more so about "What impact does the meteor have on everyone?" "How does Saitama take on the responsibility of being the strongest man, how will others percieve the heroes if he's the strongest and theyre all hopeless?" What does it mean for the association and so on

If you look at it face level, it's a baseless one-hit-kill gag that has it's dumb quirky "memes" like "OK" and "Heres someone with free time" and the other shit Animefags love to post over and over, but theres really more to Saitamas character than being "The dude who beats the villain", Hell his heroism FOUNDED the very Hero Association the series revolves around which leads into Garou hating the hypocrital Celebrity heroes and going on his hero hunting etc.

It has probably been said a million times but whatever:
OPM is not about fights. It is about depicting a character who can no longer relate to his surroundings due to his overwhelming strength.
The antagonists in OPM are not the villains but the problems Saitama has to face in his daily life: mainly boredom and isolation.
It was established pretty early on in the series that he will win every fight effortlessly (it's in the title ffs), so complaining about it doesn't even make sense.
If you don't like this premise, go watch/read something else, no one is stopping you.
But don't claim that it's predictable without even getting what the series is about.
