How does /a/ watch their anime?
I'm using madvr but I can't seem to get the upscaling settings as nice as what I've seen. I'm watching on a 2560x1440 screen.
Right now I'm using
Chroma upscaling: Jinc AR
Doubling: always nnedi3 128 neuron
Image upscaling: jinc AR
Adaptive sharpen .2
What's the best setting to get smooth, non ringing, non artifacting lines when upscaling this much?
>uses MPC-HC because he cares about video quality
>gets mad when others use mpv as it provides superior video quality
I have mpv on the laptop since it's Linux, but have MPC-HC on the desktop since it's Windows. How does it fare in comparison? I would change if I saw actual proof, maybe some screenshots?
Chromecast (2015) + Ethernet Adapter
55 inch open box samsung television
2.1 audio system
Plex media server
MPC-HC, don't have and won't get admin rights on this laptop I'm using, so no madVR for me. I downloaded MPV but haven't tested it out much yet and from the little I did there didn't seem to be much of a difference (banding problems still there for example).
that's clearly not what I meant you fucking retard
all this thread is going to be is you faggots talking about your meme player just like we're on /g/
fuck off already, you have a whole general for it
>waaaaaaaaaahh they're shit-talking my favorite, but inferior, player
For one I assume you just through together.
I like this anon. Speedy work.
>madvr has more options and is more efficient than mpv
I forgot how computer illiterate most of /a/ is. Literally /v/-tier
You are a wincuck, ergo you are computer illiterate.
Don't you have a BSOD to recover from?
isn't there a desktop thread you should be shitposting in right now?
I'm sure they miss you
>implying I use Arch
Still have more respect for Arch users than wincuck subhumans though.
this shilling is worse than all of /v/'s
Even a 12 year old using GNU/Linux would be superior to a winfag desu senpai
>Literally nothing but good old basic VLC
You're just as subhuman as these MPC-HC fags, but at least you spent less time setting up. In that regard, you're less of an imbecile then they are.
MPV with Vapoursynth on GNU/Linux
No need to use proprietary or counterfeit software
What's the point of Vapoursynth? explain it like I were a housewife in her 40s.
as long as the source isn't in 60fps all it does is make up intermediate images, which is gonna look like shit and make everything blurry
same shit many modern TVs do if you don't turn that crap off
There's no such a thing as native 60fps anime.
I don't know about you, but since I have a shit CPU and no dedicated graphics card, there's actually a noticeable difference between MPV (on Linux
Lubuntu) and MPC-HC (on Windows 7). MPC tends to look blurry and slow-ish, while the few problems I've had with MPV are due to audio (like it de-syncs or completely fucks up, but restarting MPV fixes it). Not to mention that, while not so common with Anime, I get low frames-per-second watching movies at 1080p; low as in 20-22, it may not seems much since movies are 24fps, but fuck me it is unbearable. I guess part of it is due to the fact that Windows has a few heavy processes working constantly behind. I have an AMD APU.
Also, Happy New Year to anyone who cares.
The affect afterwords isn't measurable in any way. There is no scientific way of showing that one thing looks better than another. nnedi3 is in MPV, and is just as good, if not better than the nnedi3 in MPC's Russian rendering software.
I have this weird problem with mpv on ubuntu: if I double click on the file it will freeze after few minutes and I won't be able to close the application (even if I kill it it will not go away), if I start it from the terminal it works perfectly.
I use Windows Media Player and then personally redraw the entire anime frame-by-frame at my native resolution.
It's kind of a pain since I have to use an online conversion service to switch from mkv into a better format, and I'm too poor to afford photoshop so I have to draw it in Paint.
This way I don’t need to remember where I stopped. I just type "wa-a -r" and it resumes the last session.
Damn webm limit. FFS, is ten megabytes so large?
webm.host \1cbc6 \id.webm
Watching show thoroughly gives me additional pleasure. Instead of being a ‘lets rewatch this show again in the 10th time and spot nothing’ faggot I’m making enough screenshots and webms to be sure I didn’t miss any moment and would not want to rewatch the show in the next several years. Also animators should be pleased, too that I notice small things they put effort to, but the 90% of faggots watching streams on smartphones while kicking each other in subway ever won’t.
Take this picture of Ranmaru, for example: here she’s angry at something distracting her from the pet for a brief moment, but at the next cadre her face changes to neutral as she sees that this was Ichiko.
>But the eye could only perceive 1/30 frames per second.
Your eye is not a camera. It doesn't see in frames. At any rate I've talked to an engineer who did work on the camera that the space shuttle uses for docking at the ISS
it needed to be ~200fps or the shaking would mess with the astronauts sense of depth and make them nauseous.
With a Chromecast, Plex, a Sony 42" """"""""smart""""""""" TV and my comfy couch, of course.
Nah, it works fine with just Plex and a Chromecast.
Tagging can be a pain in the ass, when it comes to chink cartoons though. It's very hit and miss, but if you just rename your files with Filebot, then it'll work fine most of the time.
the issue is actually the settings. i guess my gpu hitting low 70 usage makes it stutter at neurons 64. I think both mpc and mpv are good. prefer mpc for some features i use on it.
You just need the right codec. The video quality is superior, so it's worth the effort.
Pic not really related.
too many shades makes it look like Bible Black
it's not that bad how it is now
You do not need CCCP or KCP anymore. MPC-HC now comes with LAV Filters installed. All you need is MPC-HC, MadVR and xysubfilter, and you can use ffdshow audio instead of LAV if you like for advanced audio features like virtual surround for headphones, Winamp plugin support, etc.
Set MadVR chroma upscaling to NNEDI3 64 neurons, image upscaling to Jinc, and under remove artifacts, set debanding to high if watching Horriblesubs. Turn on smooth motion. If this shit is too slow switch NNEDI3 to super-xbr, sharpness 100 for chroma upscaling. Doubling/quadrupling luma/chroma resolution with super-xbr or NNEDI3 can help a lot for upscaling if your computer is fast enough.
Thanks for the tips, but I'll still probably just use KCP since it installs all of those for me with one click. I do fuck with madvr after its installed though. Just discovered the debanding option recently and I love it.
