Not exactly. Transferring semen simply gives your servant a little extra fuel to use their spells and shit. Normally this wouldn't be necessary if you knew what you were doing, like Rin and Archer, for example, who had a normal master/servant connection.

Think of semen as adding a cup of fuel to a working car. It would be pointless adding it to a car which functioned normally. But if it was a last resort (eg. Shirou and Saber) then you did what you had to.

When they made the decision to turn it into a visual novel, they assumed that all visual novels HAVE to have sex. You can tell people don't really have a good understanding of the series when they make arguments. Saying Shirou's projections weren't even really good is amusing, because his projections can last forever. When Rin and Saber see his shed they are suprised and shocked but don't really tell Shirou why. At first it seems like Shirou's projections aren't that good, but then we find out through exposition that projection is really only used to modify things temporarily during rituals, and the changes revert. Rin and Saber freak out because Shirou has seemingly broken one of the rules of magic. People shit on Tokiomi a lot, but he gave his daughter away because without passing on his magic crest to Sakura she'd be captured and experimented on. He had no way of knowing Zouken would fuck everything by purposefully tormenting her for no reason, turn her into a grail and fucking up the Holy Grail war, or that he would take over her body and embedded himself in her. Sakura was just a person with a rare ability with decent magic circuits. On the outside, she's a strong, capable Enforcer who executes her missions with efficiency and precision who's basically the definition of the phrase "All work and no play". On the inside, however, she's an insecure wreck with little to no social skills and an extreme case of loneliness and self-esteem issues who's constantly shutting herself off from the world. If it weren't for the fact that her skills and work constantly required travel and going outside, she'd probably be a shut-in. She's also someone who can't live without work. She's fairly well-off, to the point where she could easily retire and not work a day, but she has a compulsive need to maintain a job.

She also loves the legend of Cu Chulainn.

And she's not a Christmas cake. She's around 22-24, I believe.
