I really liked Togame, and I didn't her expect to die like this at the end of episode 11, it really fucking pissed me off but I thought it was done perfectly. I loved Katanagatari but as >>135571049 said, there's not enough character development to care about most of them. For instance I couldn't care less about the Maniwa. She didn't do it to save Japan, she did it because she was curious. She was told she would be the engine of change, so she wanted to see change go down. It didn't particularly matter to her, only that she complete her mission. The story was entirely about people on their own personal missions and what drove them to fight for their lives or to the death. What makes her interesting is that as the type of person who is usually zealous and self-sacrificial, she gives the impression that she acts out of personal ambitions only to reveal the naked truth in the end that she herself was a tool of circumstances - a tool which Shichika freed with his own choice. That's the significance of her returning to him as a free spirit, despite him telling her to fuck off.

Why everyone said she win? If by winning as she complete her goal while Togame didn't I understand. But if by winning Shichika at least from the anime there are absolutely no implication that they become couple. Shichika still wear Togame's hair/clothes and Hitei wear Emonzaemon's mask, implying they are still mourning their partner. For me it only show that they are similar souls wandering together as they are both fugitive for murdering Shogun and his officers and may have exchange some benefit (Shichika offer protection and Hitei offer money/ travel planning.)
