She wouldn't even need to. SHIKI was already driven mad due to Roa's influence. Even though SHIKI manages to maintain dominance in the Far Side routes, Roa's influence is still there. It's been there for ten years. He never regained his sanity and Kohaku never needed to do anything to him.

All she did was feed him misinformation. She lied to him about Shiki's characteristics, so in Hisui and Kohaku's routes, SHIKI couldn't recognize him.

Am I the only one who thinks the Far side routes are really fucked up?

It was an adaptation of a doujin game. Even back then, this kinda thing was fairly unheard of. They probably didn't have much faith in it so they probably gave it to some self-absorbed director who wanted to create his own spin on it.

To be fair, we still would have complained about it either way. Let's be honest, Nasu's stories aren't the easiest to adapt into an animated medium. There's too much background info that needs to be explained in order for anything to make sense and there's often shit that happens in one route that's only explained in another route so you can't understand what's going on until you see literally everything.

I always thought someone from JC STAFF was a fan of the VN so he tried to make it into an anime but didn't have much budget.

It's not that it was fairly unheard of, a dojin game getting adapted was unheard of and to this day I think you can probably count with one hand the amount of adaptations coming from dojins.

Besides I think VN adaptations weren't high on anyone's priorities list back then, I could be wrong though.
