Just don't use those terms at all, they have become completely meaningless. People only use it as "I like x therefore she's classic while y is shit and as such modern". This thread is the perfect example.
Every canon tsundere in every show save for one is shit
That's whats wrong
Well, that's your own preference, but don't pretend to know a character's motivations or the reasons for their behavior if you haven't even read the series. That's pretty silly.
Nothing, what are you talking about? On the contrary, based solely in your image, it got lightyears better. Left is fapbait for otakus, right is a well written character, I wouldn't even put her on the "tsundere" archetype since she have her own personality and way of thinking, but it's more easy to do so.
>Kirino isn't a tsundere, she has her own personality
It's my most hated and loved meme at the same time, for one side I hate people just coming and saying "shit shit shit" and for the other I love how nobody can explain why or just made up things. >>135388914
She acts abrasive toward her brother because he became someone he's not. She used to look up to him when they were young, and they spent a lot of time together. He always put his best foot forward and was helpful to those around him.
But then the most popular girl in his class got injured when he and her went climbing and the entire class blamed him and treated him like shit. He went to Manami for comfort, but instead of supporting him, she just emphasized what they were saying in a different way. She told him he was average and uninteresting, and that he should stop trying to aspire to be more for himself and those around him. He was depressed, and she she took advantage of it to bring him to her level.
After that, she started monopolizing him and he stopped being the person he was. He ignored Kirino and his old friends and stopped trying to do his best at everything he tried to do. he became a lethargic, apathetic bum who didn't give a fuck. And so, Kirino started to dislike him.
You're right about all major things, I only think that Sakurai was not the most popular girl. She used to skip school almost all the time and only started going there for maybe a few weeks before the accident.
Yeah, Kirino legitimately hated him at the beginning.
Maybe I lost the actual definition of "tsundere" somewhere, and Kirino it's been the only good one in many years. That could explain it, since most of the tsunderes just act "violently" while loving the main character.
>strongly hostile for more than half the story until gradually moves to dere
>has real development
>implying not classic
That image is factually incorrect. A classic taundere is one who starts the show tsuntsun and eventually transitions into a more deredere role. An example would be Madoka from Kimagure Orange Road. A modern tsundere flip flops between the two. Tohsaka and Kirino are both modern taundere.
They are both classics, you dolt. A real modern tsundere isn't as common as some people think they are. Fumino from Mayoi Neko Overrun is a prime example of modern tsundere who alternates between tsun and dere from start to last. Chise who is from the same series is a classic tsundere contrasting to Fumino.
These terms classic and modern that suggests a contemporary difference is what's truly factually incorrect. Both tsundere that have a steady tsun to dere progression and those that who switch to tsun and dere frequently have existed for a long ass time. Japan doesn't have this "classic" and "modern" segregation that we have, which is built on misconceptions to begin with.
