It's debatable if it actually is the true AOTY, but it's one of the tops for me.
My other contenders would be Wakaba Girl and NNBR.
For the record I honestly thought OPM was alright too, probably a top 5 along with Gochiusa.
Wakaba Girl was the surprise of the year for me. It's the first time that I enjoyed a short that much and the episode length was just perfect for the content. Definitely up there with the best shows of the year. It is much better than Kiniro Mosaic.
It's honestly the only show in the running. Only other show worth considering this year was Somera-chan, which just doesn't have the content to compare. Maybe YKA based on name brand alone. 2015 was terrible for TV.
OPM is the only contender. Everybody knows it but just won't admit it because they have to be contrarian at all costs.
It's not even that good just the year was terrible like you say.
What bizarre taste you have, senpai. I loved Somera-chan, and appreciate the reasons why Hibike should be in the running even though it wouldn't be my top pick, but those are just some bizarre choices to claim as your top two.
I feel like there were tons of other shows you should have really enjoyed if you were into those two. For starters, to name two shows with htings in common with your picks, did you not like NNB Repeat or Hackadoll?
>Euphonium, Kekkai Sensen, Yuri Kuma, Pleiades
Nope, all shit. Especially the last two with vocal circlejerking around here, truly pathetic to pretend that crap was higher than 4/10. Get some taste, fedora-kun.
It was one of my favorite shows as far as I can remember, though 2015 was pretty shit in general. At the very least it was very well done (animation, directing, etc.) Even if you dislike Kyoani for their 'cute girls doing cute things' reputation, you have to admit that they do have talent.
Also why are OPM fags so invasive and hostile? Usually I'm against voicing your dislike for popular stuff (or stuff in general), even if you dislike it, because it won't contribute anything, but its fans really shouldn't be surprised by all the hate they receive when there is such an abundance of annoying and spiteful vocal fans.
I wouldn't mind if they'd just kept it within their threads, but lately it feels like its fandom became cancerous to a point where I can barely find a thread that does not have someone mentioning how Saitama can beat up everyone else or how it's the best Anime ever. I even knew all of the characters' names even before giving the Anime a try.
It feels like its fans are not the victims, but rather the bullies.
Not while Yuru Yuri, NNB, and the Usagis are present
I loved this year's YrYr but how the fuck can you enjoy GochiUsa that much? even NNB Repeat wasn't as enjoyable as the first season was except for some parts of specific episodes.
>some parts of specific episodes
I don't know. I think you guys may be over romanticizing season one or judging season 2 too harshly. I thought NNB Repeat was fairly solid all the way through, and it's great moments were at least as good, and often better than anything season 1 had going on. Flatty-san episode was masterful, teru-teru bouzu was amazingly good, had me in tears laughing, and
pic related episode had me just in tears.
While obviously some episodes stood out more than others, and there were a couple of segments that didn't work as well as they might have, there wasn't an actual bad episode at all.
I think Repeat was my AOTY.
teru-teru bouzu was my favorite part of the whole NNB anime. I liked NNB a lot and liked that they toned down the forced yuri of Hotaru but there was a lot more of downtime in S2 than in S1. It just didn't outshine Hibike for me.
I like the YrYr girls a whole lot more. Chino and Kokoa are super cool but the other cast didn't do anything to me. Also that silent 7 minutes of YrYr were the highlight of the season for me.
Some drama shoulda been thrown in to spice things up.
Of course but it isn't AOTY.
Yuri teasing shite aside it was fucking brilliant, I don't see any flaws with Euphonium at all.
It was nearly Hyouka level that's how good it was.
because they aren't actually the fans, it's just retards realizing how easy it is to trigger people and this was obviously because of the popularity riling up the shitposters
a few months before the release the threads were peaceful, the worse you got was people losing their shit about boros/garou being a dragon threat or a god threat, there weren't even waifufags spamming their fan art
we had story times, we had discussion about the characters, discussion about the interviews
shit like that, now it's just shitposters baiting other shitposters in an endless spinning circle full of shit that spills everywhere
I stayed only for Asuka. I didn't think the show was good enough.
It's officially and objectively runner-up behind NNB.
It's iyashikei. Google this. The whole point of the show is to relax and "heal" the viewer.
It, like any iyashikei, is best watched one episode per night right before bed to benefit the most from it. Don't marathon it; you'll regret it.
KyoAni is a better studio than Madhouse or Bones and Hibike Euphonium is a better anime than any anime Madhouse or Bones have released this year.
Yes. I can't get into KinMoza despite watching the first three episodes. Gochuumon manages to hook me through the whole time. S2 conclusion left me empty, though, as per the norm for good SoL.
Nothing beats Aria.
I haven't watched NNB but I can't help but feel the fans are really exaggerating how good it is because of how annoying and intrusive its fanbase is. Doesn't make me want to watch it at all. From screenshots it looks like a mediocre show and these faggots are praising it like a modern masterpiece so I'm skeptical.
That's #5. AOTY is Fafner Exodus.
You'll be old enough to appreciate CGDCT some day, anon.
>All 3 of those places basically overlap with one another these days
Protip: 4chan basically overlaps with them too, meme-wise, whether you want to admit it or not.
As long as it's not here, I don't care. You hugbox faggots and your defeatist "I'm a hurt soul that needs healing!" attitude make me sick.
Go back to somewhere. Go back to anywhere. Please, just get >>>/out/
>I feel like if I watch this I'll become very dissatisfied with my real life
I feel like both ARIA and Non Non Biyori seem to stress (ARIA a bit moreso) appreciating the little things in life, so watching them may actually provoke the opposite response in you, encouraging you, too, to "stop to smell the flowers" so to speak in life and appreciate life's little joys.
Not really. I feel like it only got as much attention as it did because of the studio. Looking at it impartially, the pacing dragged, it was stuffed with yuri bait which comes off as a desperate grab for sales, and a lot of the drama was pointless and stupid.the overlarge cast meant a lot of characters got sidelined and it made it hard to care about a character quitting the band or not getting a part when they had previously only had like 10 seconds of screen time and one line. The bulk of the band are also portrayed as idiots and by the end I kind of want them to fail after all the stupid shit they pulled.
Not to say it was all bad. The animation was nice, the music was great, and it had a couple of great characters.
Overall though the series wasn't all that great and definitely not AOTY.
>You'll be old enough to appreciate CGDCT some day, anon.
A few of my favorite shows are already CGDCT or SoL, say Nichijou, K-on, Yuyushiki. It's just that the NNB fanbase is way too vocal and intrusive so it feels like a huge circlejerk instead of an actual fanbase of real merit.
>As long as it's not here
I've got bad news for you, anon.
>I haven't watched NNB but I can't help but feel the fans are really exaggerating how good it is because of how annoying and intrusive its fanbase is.
/a/ in a nutshell - the post.
The thread is about AOTY in general right now.
And let's be honest, if fans being cancerous is a reason for an anime not to be AOTY then Hibike can never be AOTY because it has by far the most cancerous combination of /pol/fags, /lgbt/ actual homos, fat virginal KyoAnus zealot fucks, and other assorted namefagging autistics.
Thankfully fans cannot affect if an anime is AOTY so we can allow Hibike to be a runner up.
>complaining about fanbases instead of anime
NNB = ARIA > Kinmosa > Gochiusa
NNB and ARIA are the epitome of CGDCT shows that are much more than just CGDCT shows. Kinmosa and Gochiusa are the epitome of substanceless CGDCT shows which do not attempt to do anything but CGDCT. Kinmosa is better simply because it has Karen, but both are rather shallow fluff, and the kind of shows which lead some idiots to believe that all CGDCT shows are equally substanceless.
>Worst fanbase of the year
>The same year as Non Non Biyori Repeat and OPM
Sorry, I missed that one.
Either way, In all but one of several first past the post polls, the majority of voters did not agree that NNB was AOTY, and that one was only just barely.
>They're usually the people that wrote it off for being childish without watching.
Yeah, these people would be dumb, just like the people who actually watched it without realizing that from previews, screenshots and manga scans alone that it's GAY AS FUCK.
What a cruel universe we live in.
Yuri is beautiful and dicks are icky. ICKY.
>focus on Hazuki
Meh, literally worst girl. Not a bad girl/character, just not as interesting (Kumiko, Reina, Asuka, Natsuki) or cute (Sapphire) as the others.
Fair enough but I still like Hazuki and Midori and thought they were underrepresented in the main series; so I'm glad we had this as now the characters will feel more rounded for S2. Also Kumiko a best.
Winter - Death Parade
Spring - Hibike!
Summer - Working!!!
Fall - Osomatsu-san/Owari
Hibike is my AOTY, although I'll be honest, while it was good, it wasn't AOTY material to me at the time. There are no real standouts for this year, and I don't see myself rewatching or recommending anything that aired this year.
Comfy, and the extra bit with Ribbons and Natsuki was cute. Hazuki and Midori don't do much for me, but it was some nice development for them, especially since they dropped off the screen a bit toward the end of S1 as Reina became more prominent.
The bit at the end with Shuichi was a little off-putting, if only because I really don't think they can make that relationship work in S2 after all the baiting and how much of a non-entity they made him.
You're a dumb little girl who doesn't know what she's saying.
What you meant to say is that men are icky. Dicks on the other are the most wonderful thing in the entire universe. The big bang and the resulting universe is just so that dicks could exist.
Dicks are the best thing in all of reality. Everyone loves dicks.
Straight men have dicks.
Straight women want to have dicks inside them.
Gay men have dicks and want even more dicks inside them.
Gay women long after dicks and use dildos or play around with clitorises, which are nothing more but dicks in a tinier concentrated form.
Dicks are the best. Dicks are truth.
I liked OPM largely cause of the manga, but there's really not much there outside of a few outstanding cuts (training fight, last ep).
I dunno, Eupho is just very obviously the best show this year, for me at least. I liked Somera-chan because I think Imazaki's a genius. His direction and art puts a warped perspective on the source humour and makes for an awesome show, same with AMM. One of my favourite "auteur" directors in anime right now.
NNBR was definitely enjoyable, but I didn't see it as much more than that. Like, it was funny and sweet, but didn't do anything particularly interesting that makes it stand out. Some good moments like episode 4 were there, but were very isolated from the rest of the show. Just less cohesive, more obviously a 4koma adaption than something like K-On!. Honestly, K-On! set the bar too high and I prolly judge too harshly. I didn't watch Hackadoll.
Kekkai was horrible, especially let down because I like Matsumoto. YKA gets an A for effort, but was very messy. Didn't watch Pleaides, I hear it's a basic bitch magical girl show.
>Why don't you just marry a dick?
You're cordially invited.
Euph threads win them worst fanbase of the year. OPM threads were great, despite it being a show that bridged the gap to /v/ and normies who like it for all the wrong reasons.
>all this fighting over table scraps
You will soon learn that the real AOTY was overlooked by you lot.
I wached it and I felt like they were just drilling same concept from the original show into my head, like every episode they just repeat the same set of words, like "hope", "future", "peace culture". I don't understand why people like Fafner.
Yeah, only because there's not many other good contenders.
Animation was top notch, but honestly, I thought Hibike was a bit forgettable.
2012 runner up should be Jinrui and not Hidamari, 2013 AOTY should be Uchouten Kazoku and not NNB
2015 AOTY is Hibike and not NNBR
>shitposters' AOTY: NNB
fixed that for you
Reminder that Ribbons did nothing wrong.
having annoying voice is not wrong
She was still a bit of a bitch, even if she was being a bitch to help a friend.
Even Natsuki, who didn't try until halfway through the story and wasn't even part of the trumpet section, knew Reina was the better player.
Ribbon stirred up shit for no reason. There was no reason to suspect nepotism because Reina was a better player, and everyone knew it, even prior to the second audition.
Kaori getting the solo would have hurt the band's chances at Nationals, and yet Ribbon jeopardized everyone's hard work anyways, as well as the band's morale.
>Kumiko x Reina
Old and busted
>Hazuki x Natsuki
It was more of a confluence of issues than just one. Taki was a new teacher, and he was changing the structure of the band dramatically, leading to some level of resentment among the band members, Ribbons clearly included. Additionally, the suspected nepotism is not unreasonable given Reina and Taki's personal connections. Remember, it can be nepotism even if the person getting the position deserves the part. Kaori not getting the part last year because of seniority was another factor. Finally, Ribbons actions end up being for the best as it resolves any lingering doubts as to whether Reina deserved the part and establishes Taki as a fair conductor.
Non Non Biyori is AOTY and a better anime than Neon Genesis Evangelion.
No, but Ninja Slayer is
It's in the same tier as Haruhi and Nichijou as far as KyoAni stuff goes, but it had the misfortune of being released the same year as a Non Non Biyori season.
As a high school music anime, it was infinitely superior to K-On! K-On! was about a bunch of slackers with no depth. Hibike had as much moe and comfy humor while being about the highly competitive world of orchestral performance with realistic scenes depicting the confusing emotions of young love.
I did not watch Free! because I am neither an overweight woman nor an underweight homosexual.
