I'm a Yukifag and I hated Yuki-Chan.

It felt like a bait & switch where the characters looked like their familiar versions, but had almost nothing in common with them, and all of the factors that make them likable and interesting stripped out.

Cute art of Yuki shyly blushing was only enough to make the show interesting the first 10 times they did it.

On an interesting side note, Puyo (the illustrator of the manga) is actually a friend of my Japanese otaku friend.

When said friend came to visit a while back, he saw my Nagato stuff and said "oh yeah, I forgot you liked Yuki, my friend illustrates a manga about her, have you heard of it?" I showed him my translated Yuki-Chan volumes and he flipped out and immediately started texting photos of them to Puyo, who was barely aware that his (her? can't remember) manga was out in English.

Apparently Puyo did h-doujins under a different name before going legit, but I've never been able to find any, and my friend didn't remember what the name was. I think I'd lose it if I found them.

Watch it but just don't expect Haruhi S3 like a lot of retards did. It's just the ideal average romcom world that Alien Yuki wanted and the change in characters reflects this. Tsuruya, Koizumi, Haruhi and Mikuru have pretty much identical personalities to the alt world in Disappearance but Yuki, Kyon and Asakura are only slightly reminiscent.
It's not as interesting or good but it's at least half decent and the references to the original series are somewhat enjoyable.

I can't deny I enjoyed it immensely, but others will call it shit since they only enjoyed the first series.
Yuki-chan I find is more of an alt-universe where it's very, VERY loosely tied to the original.
They share characters and personalities (minus Yuki), but otherwise it's a comfy slice of life anime.
