to be fair, Pt. 1 Naruto did say he was going to become the strongest Hokage of all time; and since the Leaf almost always has the strongest Kage, that means becoming the strongest Kage who ever lived. True, its kind of bullshit the series started off saying "hard work trumps genius!" and ended up saying "heritage trumps hard work AND genius!", but I'd like to think for the rest of the ninja world, "hard work trumps genius!" is still true. Gai was the hardest working motherfucker the world had ever seen, and he enjoyed a reputation comparable or even greater to Kakahi's. Bee and the Raikage both trained hard for their power, and as far as we knw they don't com from special bloodlines. Same goes for the other Kages, most of whom did not come from great bloodlines but were powerful in their own right; and don't even mention Uchiha Madara defeating them, it took the goddamn return of the Ninja Worlds version of God to put him down. They put up a good enough fight for a group of ordinary ninja's who, whilst powerful, have only a finite amount of power

The akatsuki would have failed from the get-go if the villages hadn't been retarded and trained the jinchurikis to use their tailed beasts, rather than shun them and make them resent the place they were born in. Given how powerful Killer Bee and Naruto were after taming their tailed beasts, one would think the akatsuki would have had a bit more trouble taking them.

One of the most disappointing things about Naruto. Ask yourself what purpose did the any area outside of Konoha serve? He spent so much time building the other nations, their symbols, the chuunin exam that brought them all together, creating all these different fighting styles, only to throw it all away in favor of Sharingan and Kyuubi.

When Shikamaru won the chuunin exam it was fucking awesome, ~200 chapters later (post Sasuke retrieval essentially), him, like almost every other character without a sharingan is worthless.

The whole Sharingan being a weaker cousin of the Byakugan? Why wasn't that ever explained? Why isn't the Hyuga clan staging a coup like the Sharingan?

So much potential wasted. For what reason did he feel the need to introduce a random big bad at the end of the manga when he had so many characters that he had wasted over the last 15 years.

This was never the case. Kakashi states that it is said that the Sharingan descended of the Byakugan and we now know that what actually happened is that the Sharingan and Byakugan descended from the same clan - the Ootsutsuki - but the Sharingan appeared later due to it being a degraded Rinnegan.

The Sharingan was never weaker than the Byakugan: the Byakugan could just see deeper and farther than the Sharingan, but couldn't copy jutsu or cast genjutsu
