that frame isn't wrong at all. when something is being animated with proper lip-sync, it's really easy to take one or two still frames out of context and claim that the animation is "bad" because the in-between expression looks weird and not what the viewer is expecting. what matters is what it looks like in movement, individual frames don't always give a good indication of that. I'm not having a go a you, by the way, that frame just reminded me about this stuff. I have seen people claim things like that in the past and it's a pet peeve.

the point is that nobody expects pursed lips, flicking tongues and all that. huge 3D blobs of tongues sitting inside when they open wide look kinda strange too.

again, nobody says it's technically shoddy. it just is not visually pleasing.

and mouths are not the only issue. the shading doesn't look anime enough. it's like they're all oiled up and then had a layer of rouge put ontop of the oil.

ED1 had skirts that looked like the plastic ones kigs are wearing.

I don't want to say "uncanny valley" because I don't really find it creepy. But there are lots of little things that just stick out like a sore thumb.

I want to start watching Precure, but as it turns out it has more than a dozen "versions" according to Wikipedia. Which one should I start first?

There's no objectively right place to start. Some people do broadcast order, of course, but if people come in elsewhere, it's often through Heartcatch, which is probably the most welcoming to outside viewers barring its unusual art style. People who really wanted to get into it before choosing a season can end up anywhere, though. But if you must absolutely be told, I say watch Suite.

The early seasons are a smidge more childish than later, choosing to stick to their for-kids roots a little stronger than later. It's still noticeably for little girls later on, don't get me wrong, and remembering that every so often will help you to keep things in perspective. Sometimes the arguments and hissyfits will seem ridiculous, and sometimes it's because that's just how kids act, sometimes it's because they're trying to teach children valuable lessons about how not to be a little asshole.

Heartcatch is the least childish, probably. But if you really want to get into Precure, you should stop worrying about the plots and just enjoy the characters, with the action and occasional serious/dramatic episodes being a nice bonus.

At the very least watch Futari wa until Porun gets introduced, it doesn't take long (And throw in episode 42, because everyone should see it). Then if you really don't enjoy it just jump to anything else except for Max Heart or GoGo, since they're sequels.

Depends on who you ask, Kyoryuuger is the Daigo show, which should have been an okay season had it not filled with one dimensional characters and Daigo stealing screentime left and right.

TQGer has an interesting villain group but has a really bland main cast and too much dicking around, and for a season that claims to have imagination being its main theme, it sure isn't very imaginative.
