What did you like better: Serial Experiments Lain, Texhnolyze, or Ergo Proxy?
Yeah, the whole proxy thing made everyone else irrelevant. Kind of like Super Saiyans in DBZ.
What the fuck? Why compare Ergo to those 2?
A more fitting comparison would be Shigurui, for the atmosphere.
It's not just that. The original setting, Romdeau, looked vast and amazing in the first episodes. Then when the setting extended outside Romdeau, it made the city seem smaller and insignificant. So I think changing the setting was a mistake. There's probably a literary term to describe oversimplifying the setting.
I found Ergo Proxy the most entertaining out of the three. Such DEEP and thought-provoking. It even referenced "The Prisoner."
Ergo was alright.
Lain is pretty good.
Haibane is in the back log.
Texhnolyze is the fucking GOAT, The first episode is garbage but all the characters in Texhnolyze are so fucking glorious and this nigga right here just tops it off.
Ergo was just too flawed and had more unexplored territory/unbalanced elements in comparison to the other two, which felt more complete and satisfying. It's a challenge to pick between the two, but I think maybe Texhnolyze because of its action.
texh was pretty excellent.
>Ergo was just too flawed and had more unexplored territory/unbalanced elements
I really wanted to like Ergo Proxy, but despite having great characters and some excellent stand-alone episodes, the overall plot was confusing and nonsensical.
The show had so much potential; it deserves a remake with better animation and writing.
