I like Lain and Tex about equally, though if I'm going to be pretentious, I prefer the 90s hacker/cyberpunk aesthetic of Lain.

I didn't like Ergo Proxy at all.

It's not just that. The original setting, Romdeau, looked vast and amazing in the first episodes. Then when the setting extended outside Romdeau, it made the city seem smaller and insignificant. So I think changing the setting was a mistake. There's probably a literary term to describe oversimplifying the setting.

I really wanted to like Ergo Proxy, but despite having great characters and some excellent stand-alone episodes, the overall plot was confusing and nonsensical.

The show had so much potential; it deserves a remake with better animation and writing.

Watching Tex again helps appreciating it better like Lain?
It was 2depressing4me near the end, Yoshii arc was GOAT.
