This. TTGL is so /v/core it hurts. TTGL, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Kill la Kill are the holy trinity of shitty overrated anime.

But it has. Take Rossiu being a nigger in the second half and how it reflects the behaviour of all the "villains". Or how Simon doesn't revive Nia in the end.

The characters aren't that complex but saying they are just archetypes is plain wrong. Simon has good development, he learns and grows from the stuff he experiences. Everyone does. Hate it for being simple but it does a better job than a lot of other shows.

And TTGL is actually pretty smart in the way the create conflict. The more the characters use spiral energy, the closer they come to the spiral nemesis. So even though it's presented as "lel row row fight the power amirite" in the beginning and many just that, later on it changes that perspective, did you not understand the ending?
A lot of fans didn't but that doesn't make the anime bad.
