I bet you haven't read more than 10 series on this chart.
>>
>>134976243
I get too emotionally invested in manga and feel like shit after I finish a really good one
>>
>>134976456
And that's an excuse to keep reading shit ones, or avoiding them entirely?
>>
>>134976513
the latter
>>
>>134976243
Where is Hunter X Hunter ?
>>
>>134976654
In the top text. You can't even get to the chart before supposedly reading it.
>>
>>134976243

There are more titles on that chart that I have read than haven't.

The longer I keep up with this hobby the more I find manga more appealing than anime. Still spend a lot of time on both, but manga has more to offer variety and creativity-wise. At any given time I'm usually reading a ton of different ongoing manga, one or two completed titles from my backlog, maybe a reread here or there, (KnJ right now,) plus following seasonal anime and chipping away at my anime backlog here and there.

A faggots work is never done.
>>
>>134976549
>>134976513
>>134976456

You know I have this problem and it's killing me. Whenever I finish a really good movie/manga/anime/book/album I can't bring myself to move on to something else because I'm too afraid the next thing will be disappointing and I'll lose something. Doesn't seem to happen with vidya for some reason though.
>>
I read aqua knight and it was pretty shitty
>>
>>134976822
It's why you'll never make a success of your life.
>>
the top text is ruining everything. There's good mango on that list but holy shit gtfo with one piece and hxh
>>
>>134976834
I've heard that one too. But, Gunmm used to be all the rage. At least when this chart was made and when LO wasn't a complete disappointment. I mean there's still Mirai Nikki on the list when people on /a/ actually enjoyed it (ironically I suppose you would call it these days).
>>
>>134976901
Just read the first chapter of HxH and you'll be consistently up-to-date minus some offset.

What the fuck even happened to OP? Especially the threads. They'll just gotten worse.
>>
>>134976243
Why do people include things on entry-level charts that aren't available in English? Almost no one who needs a list like this is going to be able to read Golgo 13.
>>
>>134976954
This isn't an entry level chart though.
>>
>>134976844
Yeah you're probably right.
>>
>>134976974
This is an entry level chart. It used to be handed out to every rec thread for manga.
>>
>>134976954
That is like the only exception that I can even see. I mean you still get the how many volumes Viz or whatever put out.
>>
>>134976243
What is Battle Royale doing on that list? It's a fucking trainwreck.
>>
>>134977030
Also, I imagine some of the people making these charts weren't solely English speakers.
>>
>>134976243
All those mangas that I realy want to read but i'm too lazy, damn.

> that pic for gantz
kek
>>
>>134977042
The movie was alright. The manga used to be unusually popular. God fucking knows why. I don't know about the novel.
>>
>>134976974
Not Nurutu-tier entry level, but anyone who's been reading manga for a few years wouldn't need to be recommended the vast majority of these, and the people who would need it are not going to know Japanese nine times out of time.
>>
>>134976243
Pretty good but Saikano's fucking awful and should be removed.
>>134976901
HxH deserves to be on the list, fucktard.

20 for me. ten more of the anime adaptions, and ten that I dropped.
>>

10, 20, what's the difference?
>>
>>134977171
>>134976243
What's the difference between those two?
>>
>>134977245
One is the 'hipster' side according to shitposters. Part 2 has a lot of gekiga, 70s manga, Ax/Garo as well licensed stuff that wasn't actually scanned until recently. Frogs or other Euros must have made that one for sure.
>>
>>134976243
Exactly 10.

And like 45 if you consider it's anime adaptations.
>>
>>134976834
There's tons of shitty stuff on this chart. It's pretty entry-level, so accessible crap is obviously going to make an appearance.
>>
>>134977275
And the scans that do exist don't exist on any online readers.

That's actually a very good question. I would've thought it would be in this chart of the next, but it's not. Even Hagio Moto and Keiko is mentioned in the bottom authors. But not Ikeda.

Lots of editors most likely have. Editors don't have shit taste like people seem to think. Only the JUMP ones. Manga lists based on editor personal rankings seem to produce some pretty good results. A recent one put Dungeon Meshi first.

I think they did. But when a hiatus occurs, everyone reflects a little and realizes what the fuck they were reading. I got the impression it was good up to some point and then it wasn't worth the effort. That was when the series actually ended. There's so many dead manga fanbases when you look at it. /a/ has been pretty blank of manga in the past two years.
>>

No, seriously, what's with the influx of normalfags recently? Everything was nice and normal a few months ago, but since about 6 months ago the board has gone straight to shit. Not even "Night time /a/" is safe now.

Are we getting raided? I don't want to believe that /a/ has fallen this low. The post in this thread and many others look like something out of fucking Facebook.

I'm actually convinced 95% of the post in this thread are being posted by some IRC chat trying to troll us. It's fucking impossible that there are so many normalfags actively posting in this board. It's insane.

You waltz in, completely disregard the established board culture, do whatever the fuck you want, call whomever you disagree with "kids," and you say you are not being selfish? Just kill yourself. The human race can do without people like you.
>>
>>134977171
>Shoujo Fight
Why the fuck would anyone include things that all groups refuse to pick up (one chapter every two years is not picking up) despite raws being available for a long, long time already?

And these charts seem pretty biased towards seinen by the way.
>>
>>134978834
I'm not sure who you are talking about.
Are you mad at the thread in general? Because I'm enjoying my 2008 nostalgia thread.
Are you mad at the people posting what they have read? We've done that before. Nothing wrong with it.
Are you mad at the guy saying go back to Facebook? I can see that, but I'm not following the conversation there.

>>
>>134978782
The second chart has some good quality series. Pick up Sangatsu no Lion. And why not the Tatsumi? You read Tsuge but not Tatsumi? You've even read his stories in Ax.

There's like two series that haven't been scanned on that chart I think. Summit of the Gods and With the Light. Oh and House of Five Leaves only has the first few volumes.

>>134978946
>And these charts seem pretty biased towards seinen by the way.
That's pretty obvious. Someone made a shoujo/josei chart but I think that was lost to the sands of time. Fuck, archive come back up. I need to find it actually.
>>
>>134978988
I haven't been able to lurk often the last few years.
Ignorance and confusion.
>>
>>134979096
>Sangatsu no Lion
I'm trying to avoid ongoing series, since I'm following way too many. I'll probably read it once it's completed, or if I'm ever in the mood, I guess.
As for Tatsumi, I just didn't have the occasion.
>>
>>134978946
Entropy was a good group. Bummed when they died. Which they basically did years ago. Still bunch of series that no one else picked up to this day.

Fair enough, I hated that the scanlation group just didn't bother with the series for years. But the most recent volume was really satisfying. Too bad /a/ doesn't even really follow the series anymore.

I see Ghost in the Shell therefore it is marked with my approval

>>
>>134979478

Sanctuary - it seems I actually mistaken it with Heat, which was released in my country several years ago. That means I probably haven't read Sanctuary at all.

I like Matsumoto, just sometimes it just doesn't hit the right chord. Blue Spring is one of those series. I like his actual sustained stories than his shorter ones.

>>
>>134979620
Don't worry, once the anime airs it'll be popular again.

>>
>>134980805
Was Silver Spoon ever popular?
I feel like Sangatsu had a much larger fanbase.
>>
>>134980800
Depends on what exactly you find boring as hell. It's a SOL series about raising a child which isn't your own, at least from the perspective of the anime.
>>
>>134980800
Yes, because the timeskip isn't animated.
>>
>>134980832

Not for the faint of heart. Worth reading I guess, but not necessarily worth reading over and over again to get all the different plot points and time looping. I'm told it comes out to something quite rich, but here I am reading all this other manga instead. There are summaries of the events as much as people can decipher them, I think mangafox forums had one. I don't know if it was any good, just that it was mentioned quite often.

Nope, haven't seen the Himizu live action. But I don't really have a high opinion of the series. It was as about grimderp edgy as I was expecting going into it. Maybe a bit less at first, but definitely the end got there. I'm more a fan of Furuya's comedy series like Boku to Issho to be sure.

This list is pretty pathetic desu senpai. I consider myself pretty entry level and I've easily read over 10 from the list. Why the fuck is Claymore on there? It's pretty damn shit, Gantz too. At least Gantz was amazing when it was good, Claymore was only pretty good at it's best. Both series shit the bed at the end. Berserk isn't on the list even though HnK is in the pre reqs and the list. So I guess I'm to assume the author thought Claymore is better than Berserk, which is honestly mindblowing that anyone could think that.

What? It's literally the first thing on the chart. You have to realize this chart was made like 7 years ago. When Gantz wasn't complete shit either and when it was still entertaining.

He's gone through the typical pendulum interpretation. Originally, historians took most of the slander in primary/secondary sources seriously and judged very harshly. Then came the generation of revisionists who took a more detailed look at what he actually accomplished while on the throne and thought he wasn't all that bad. Nowadays, you have the post-revisionists qualifying some of the more enthusiastic defenses.

To be honest, I think the emperors 2nd and 3rd century emperors were way worse (Elagabalus is one infamous example), even if their reigns were shorter because they only made the political turmoil worse and worse.

It's 25 so far, so I think 25 more would make for a good 50-list for good, underappreciated manga that's started/resumed receiving translations in the last 5 years.

I think I might try making the chart myself, once I have 50 manga.
>>
>>134987139
I'd say it's better mostly because you have an abomination that's actually evil and keeps his tricks up his sleeves and uses them in ways that are artistically notable and you only have one character to receive his criticism and super human "lessons". Also since it followed the mystery style you got through arcs faster so it kept the interest up better than assclass.

I can't really describe how I feel about assclass. It's funny and comfy but a lot of what made it interesting is either gone or has been made tame.

>>

Precisely.

>>134988330
Bakuon Rettou is my absolute favorite, actually, it's just that too little of it is translated at the moment and the fact that there are no public raws for the final volume.

87 Clockers. Trying to think of series that sell reasonably well that isn't just your typical fare.

Sakamoto Desu Ga's fanbase died pretty quickly. Kodoku no Gourmet, but that's another Taniguchi series. Saint Oniisan? But it seems to have more value to some than others.

Was Space Brothers actually any good? Or was it just overrated?

I am sort of rethinking I Am A Hero, only because it does seem to be the one of the better known manga on /a/ coming just after the really mainstream stuff.

Goshiki no Fune
Ran to Haiiro no Sekai
>>

Ran was on some of the older lists, but probably worth adding again since it finished somewhat recently.

I sort of agree, but if you look at the genres, it's probably missing some different aspects. Panorama Island was on the big chart I think, but more horror stuff seems like a good idea.

How about Gegege no Kitarou or some other Shigeru Mizuki series?

For the new chart, I'm thinking of including a very brief synopsis instead of genres, so it'll make it easier to judge if you want to read it or not. I think the problem with charts like in OP, is that your eyes just kind of glaze over the rest after a few rows.

So something like... For Sakamoto Desu Ka?, "Swag: the manga"

Short and to the point. If you guys have suggestion for these kinds of very short synopsis for the manga listed in >>134990461 and >>134987291, please post them. It'll be helpful since I haven't read all of them.

Chinese Mulan the Manga, except MC is a royal princess banished from the Imperial Palace and seeks to reclaim the throne
>>
>>134994327
Oh, and Mahou Tsukai no Yome.
>>
>>134994327
>Hansel and Gretel
Dorothy and her horny companions?
>>
>>134994280
Yeah pretty much it.
It was really annoying for me to see how hollow the MC was but still get the girl because "he is just so nice!"

Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong. The girl was cute though.
>>
>>134994401
That might give away too much.
>>
>>134994401
How about Fairytales bastardized by the man who gave us Akira?
>>
>>134994400

Mahou Tsukai no Yome is very hard to describe though.
>>
>>134994506
Yeah, I know. Maybe "Worldbuilding and atmosphere, the manga"?
>>
>>134994506
>>134994400
A melancholic tale of a young girl who was rescued and adopted by a magician.

Something like that?

>Bakuon Rettou
I have no idea how to summarize it effectively without spoiling the plot. Maybe say something about cool delinquents doing cool delinquent shit, growing up, dealing with yakuza and spoiler, full eighties immersion style.

Good list, in all honesty finished 12 of them start to finish, despite more than half of them looking familiar.
>>
>>134994714
>Dungeon Meshi: /tg/ + /ck/
there's only one orc who wants to remove elves, and no one is raping them
their food actually tastes good and it's not ramen every time
>>
>>134994714
>Heartful
Most of the time I've heard people just use heartfelt.
>>
>>134994827
Ah right, that's the word I was looking for.

Red - Completed
Blue - Watched the anime and don't think the manga would improve the experience
Yellow - Plan to read and/or waiting for the serialization/scanlation to finish
Purple - Dropped or not on my planned list
Everything unchecked is undecided

>>134995479
You're probably wrong about Planetes. It gets more nihilistic and such. People would tell you to read the Bokurano manga but I'm not a fan much anyways.

You have some unexplained green squiggles.
>>
>>134995542
Oh yeah, that's what I'm currently reading.
>>
>>134995593
Well then, good job. I found it pretty hard to marathon Lone Wolf and Cub so I did a volume a day before I went to bed. Worked out pretty well until I got so engrossed in the story I read through the night when it got good.
>>
>>134995627
It's not exactly a page-turner for some reason, despite the pacing and the action. It has something to do with the composition of the panels I guess. Pretty much the same with Black Jack and Tezuka in general, I've been reading them side by side for almost a month now.
>>
>>134995892
Lone Wolf and Cub is quite text heavy for the kind of action and violence it gets. It actually takes much longer than your usual volume of manga to read through. Often it reads more like a SOL manga or a collection of interrelated oneshots than a single coherent story.

I don't necessarily find the same with Tezuka. Maybe some of them, but a lot of them I find quite easy reads. His oneshot collections for instance or his shounen series like Dororo. Buddha possibly less so. But definitely some of his earlier work is pretty tough to get through.
>>
>>134977171
Blue Spring wasnt that great. ZERO was much much better

>no Kokou no Hito

>no FKMT
>>
>>134996064
There's a bunch of FKMT here though anyways.
http://animu-mango.wikia.com/wiki/Manga_Recommendations

I'm actually surprised there's none on any of the charts though.
>>
>>134996064
Kokou no Hito wasn't scanned.

>>134996224
yeh i just found that it was an old pic

If there are people still sticking around this thread, can someone get a good non-double page spread to serve as image for Otomot's Hansel and Gretel?
>>
I'm still waiting for the token Euro to complain that he only got here as the thread heads towards the bump limit.
>>
>>134976243
22
25 counting dropped ones.

Lot of good stuff lacking though.
