There's a thread up >>134737315 but it's at almost 450 posts at this point.
Anyway, new chapter! Fanservice! Cool.
World Trigger is back this week, Ashihara's shitty neck was acting up royally last month.
Tribes: Ascend is back since a few days ago and it's stealing away by life energy like some kind of succubus that utilizes fun instead of lewd.
And that's that, let's get on with the show.
Allow me to declare: Ashido has the best body in the class, and
Jirouis the cutest.
Grapes, you're going down a path that I can't follow.
>Deku is not at all embarrassed about being essentially naked in front of two grown women
How refreshing for a Japanese protagonist. Of course, it makes sense since right now the subject matter is serious
dude look at the size of those tits
This is also refreshing, not having a shounen idiot who just shouts YOU'RE NOT LIVING YOUR LIFE CORRECTLY and understanding that some things literally just can't be helped/you can't bullheadedly enforce your ideals.
Also, I like that last panel.
I REALLY love the way Horikoshi draws these swirly smoke/explosion things.
So, since pretty much Deku's entire deal with his new quirk has been improving it, I'm hoping this arc focuses on other characters mostly instead of him. Last arc was a training arc for him, after all.
>Girls today sure do develop quickly, huh?
I know this is a reference to how in Japan better diets and stuff has affected "development", but isn't this suposed to be decades in the future?
Japanese doesn't actually have a lot of swear words so most "cursing" is just trying to approximate the "feeling" of how someone is saying something.
Bakugou uses plain forms a lot (which is rude for anyone you're not really close/familiar with- and certainly not in public) and about as rough language as you can say without dipping into foreign words.
I don't mind it being translated into swearing myself- Hiruma from Eyeshield ain't Hiruma without all of the "fucking-"whatever he says.
Viz is absolutely awful at MHA. They're fucking up every single week.
Nah, power-creeping starts now. Bakugou destroying mountains with his explosions, Uraraka lifting cargo ships, Iida surpassing the speed of sound, Todoroki creating giant icebergs and melting diamonds.
>Naturally, there are quite a few people in out society who don't think much of heroes
Why naturally? Why would anyone that isn't a criminal or a special case like Kota hate heroes? It's like hating firefighters or paramedics
Powerlevels don't mean shit. Eraser and Stain don't have body improving Quirks, but they still are some of the strongest fighters.
Froppy with her body and fighting knowledge like Eraser's could kick Bakugo's ass everyday,.
I hate to be "that" guy,but that kid reminds me of that kid from the first arc in Nardo. Kid who hated ninjas or something but then Nardo changed his viewpoint. Hope it goes differently though.
The Pixie-bob is a breed of domestic cat [...].
The Mandalay is a breed of cat originally derived from crosses between domestic shorthair cats and the Burmese breed. Later, Abyssinians were used to introduce the cinnamon and fawn genes. These cats resemble the Asian Shorthair bred in Europe. There should be no evidence of sepia-pointing i.e. contrast between points and body. This breed originated in New Zealand and is recognized by the New Zealand Cat Fancy.
1. Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar (Burma). [Explaining the cat breed's name]
2. Mandalay" is a poem by Rudyard Kipling published in 1892. The poem colourfully illustrates the nostalgia and longing of a soldier of the British Empire for Asia's exoticism, and generally for the countries and cultures located "East of Suez", as compared to the cold, damp and foggy climates and to the social disciplines and conventions of the UK and Northern Europe. [I doubt the Author knew this.]
And late fights being basically "whoever throws a bigger laser beam wins", which isn't nearly as fun as watching battles being won using wits and being creative with what you have.
This. She already has a certain amount of superstrength inherent to her thanks to her legs(and benig able to jump high), and her tongue is already superstrong.
Also, Kirishima falling behind is silly at best, dude is essentially a brick style hero with superstrength and super durability, in a series where people with no buffed physical sstats can get as stupid strong and durable as Stain, having actual superior ability in that regard will be great for him.
The only one he's going to be falling far behind is Deku, and only once Deku actually really gets far into the OfA territory.
Kirishima started out as one of the top students of class A as a combatant/rescuer, and he's still there. He's just not "flashy".
There are just people like that.
They hate if they don't like.
They hate because of jealousy.
They hate if it's not how they want.
They hate if it's popular.
They hate if it isn't.
They even hate because exists.
See 4chan for exemple. Heck, see /a/, it really is that natural, people are jist different. There's nothing wrong there.
There's actually a pastebin of all the DDL links, although they expire from time to time (just let me know). You can find them in the archive by searching for WSJD pastebin
I didn't recognize Kirishima without his spiky hair and just stared at that picture like "Who is this guy?"
>I'm facing the greatest workload crisis since I started serialization. I'll give it my all!
Yeah, it's why I like Jojo fights. Power levels aren't as important as actually using the powers in clever ways. With the exception of some asspulls at the end of each part (fuck you Giorno)
Deku has been smart about all his fights so far, and even Ochako uses strategy. I just hope we don't get to the part where he just punches harder in order to beat the bad guy.
>After two cancellations, Horikoshi sits up at night during his 2 hours of scheduled sleep wondering if success is actually worth it
>Comic becomes strangely dark; Midoriya basically becomes the MHA world's Spiderman- the cheery/fun hero who has an absolutely insanely shitty and tragic life
Meh. Their hands are kinda tied there.
If they kept the "fuck"s and "shit"s, they'd have to change the manga rating from ages 13+ to 16+.
Weeaboos like you or I don't care what the rating is, but Viz wants to have their kids manga actually be marketed to kids.
It's perfectly okay for children to see people's heads getting blown off with brain matter flying everywhere on TV but swear words and naked women must be censored out.
What an age we live in.
>I'm facing the greatest workload crisis since I started the serialization. I'll give it my all
Nah, he's gonna learn a transformation that gives him prime-All Might's strength, but only for a few seconds every day and from there on he has to train and increase that limit.
It doesn't fucking work like that. All Might is essentially just flexing really hard when he goes all swole. He was like that all the time before he got wounded, but he got reduced to All Moe after he fought All For One. Deku needs to build himself up towards 100% by himself through years of training. There is no transformation function included in One For All.
This got me thinking. Have any previous bearers of One For All really examined the workings of the Quirk in depth, since they'd have had to keep the details secret and off the record? Could One For All be subject to the "Quirk X was actually Quirk Y all along" at some point?
I went ahead and added the backcovers from FA's scan of the volume, because I like those. Here's that, just added 2 pages: http://www5.zippyshare.com/v/tZiDJlx5/file.html
She's strong. My favorite among the girls, at least.
I know what you're saying makes sense, but we all know that even though Horikoshi kinda avoids specific cliches the whole MC transformation thing is one that writers rarely avoid altogether.
People just seem to dig those moments; Bankai, 9-tails release, SSJ, Gear Second, Nova (Psyren- which despite being rushed to a shit end had great superpowers), whatever the fuck happened to Gon even if people think it was hilarious more than badass, Yuusuke going demon (which was bad and retarded IMO), etc.
The exact method by which OFA builds power and what kind of power it really is seems to have been intentionally left vague for this purpose. You'd think All Might would have a bit more fucking advice other than, "Uh i dunno wing it and go to class or w/e lol" after training to use it himself and being friends with the guy who gave it to him.
Early in the manga this may have been true but over time there is plenty of evidence for all the girls to be considered someone's best girl for one reason or another
Fallen Angels is garbage, but they're sadly on the higher tier when it comes to this series.
Powermanga was the best but they gave up on the series. Mangastream just recently picked it up and their translations are okay, the latest chapter's translation was honestly better than Viz's in my opinion.
For such a big series, the translations really aren't that great at all.
Momo actually likes it. She has a small panel where she's shaking her pom-poms just a little.
Momo a cute.
Jirou's just a tsundere. She's mad that someone other than Kaminari is seeing her cheerleading outfit.
Viz straight-up fucks lines up as-much or more than Fallen Angels. Which one you prefer comes down to whether you like your subs overly-literal, to the point of suppressing the character's personality quirks (Viz), or exaggerating those quirks, sometimes to the point of farcical parody (Fallen Angels).
I much prefer FA's version, it seems to capture the tone better and they're up-front in the translator's corner what changes/localizing decisions they've made.
Mangastream is fucking garbage.
So let me ask this is there an official picture of Invisi-chan with her not invisible or do we still not know what she looks like? Also I don't know if this is stated somewhere or not but can she even control her power or change back? Is she stuck being invisible all the time?
>and her quirk isn't invisibility. We don't know what her quirk is.
Wait, the fuck? I thought that was her quirk. Your telling me that no one has noticed we don't know wtf her quirk is!? Don't we know everyone's quirk by now?
True, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what her quirk is during the exercise Eraser has planned hopefully. Cause honestly I think she's the only character that hasn't revealed her quirk yet.
One For All was the fusion of a self transferring quirk and a gathering strength quirk, right?
Has it been stated that the self transferring quirk could only bond once?
Maybe previous holders had quirks that got transferred too, so Deku has a hidden quirk or two he may not know about.
We still don't know.
I wonder how it must feel knowing you're the most inexpresive guy ever and you're gonna be like that your entire life. His face never varies from annoyed, serious or concerned.
She's always had a pretty big thigh gap. You don't get a thigh gap by being obese.
Jump Festa is almost here. Just a couple more days.
>Daiki, Okamoto, Miyake and maybe Ochako's VA on stage
>Collaboration with Haikyuu
This will also be the last chapter we'll get this year. It was a great year for MHA and I'm happy for it.
So best they can have official digital scans, scripts to work with, and still fuck up on translating shit that amateurs don't mess up on.
Best product? Maybe. Best effort? Not even close.
Bakugou said it himself during the tournament: quirks are lot like muscles. Use it to much and it'll get tired, consistently push its limits and you'll build up strength. So far, while everyone has certainly been using their quirks a lot, they haven't been pushing into the 'oh god pain' territory very much because that shit sucks hard. So say, Aoyama McLaserBelly is going to spend this entire day shooting beams for as long as he can, as hard as he can, because that's going to push up his duration tolerance past a single second, and possibly also let him shoot a slightly stronger beam. He is going to have the worst stomach cramps imaginable, but that's what you get when you sign up for the hero gig at Yuuei.
Nah man, Jirou x Kaminari is a ruse, you saw how she reacted the first time she saw Momo's Momos.
If the art looks familiar, it's Dowman Sayman, because of course he'd ship it
I was talking about that specific kind of mistranslation. No shit it's not a perfect skill, but if you're getting paid you better never make a huge mistake like the one posted in this thread. They literally have access to the source material, as well as contact with the publishers themselves.
So do the people in the Academia universe have higher testosterone levels than us? Like how Deku who was quirkless would he have our test levels which are around 600-700 ng/dL average. Then once he got a ofa did they suddenly spike?
So far i found 2 errors Viz did in the first 2 volumes: All Might called One for All wrong, he said All for One one time. And during the USJ raid the map which showed all the students and their locations called Shouji "Eraser" just like it did with Aizawa. But to be fair Fallen Angels did the same thing with the map so maybe it was an error from Horikoshi.
His quirk is his shadow. Basically it's a living shadow that can touch stuff. The crow head is just a secondary trait someone from his family gained from their own quirk and which got passed down, just like Kouda looks like a rock but his quirk is actually talking to animals.
I'm re-reading now and I've found one in the first five pages.
Viz says "the world is in chaos" when it should be "the world was in chaos".
>All the girls are nicely stacked.
I'm digging it, I'm liking it.
I refuse to believe someone redrew a whole head away
I thought this was already discussed? The speech bubble is his head.
Didn't you read that it's to improve the strength of their quirks? Also the way some quirks work are not well known by the users themselves when they are maturing.
Jump higher, stronger acid or whatever, stronger hardening and stuff. Simple boosts are enough.
>New BnHA Doujin
>It's Deku and Bakugo fucking each other
Just Detroit Smash me into oblivion, knowing that there will never be good DekuxOckao vanilla.
Dude that's like a good 70%+ of the doujins I've seen unscanned so far.
This series has an insanely high fujo quotient despite the sheer abundance of best girls.
>tfw there will be no fatalpulse/shindol doujins of MHA for some godawful reason.
It feels like he's going to fast only in retrospective. It's like a reverse One Piece. OP feels like it was meant to be read in volumes while MHA feels like it was made to be read weekly because in volumes it goes by so fast
I think we know why he's going so fast. Or at least so fast to us
You know a series is good when you unknowingly dream about it. One of the most intense dreams I've ever had, it felt so surreal and real at the same time.
I need to figure out how to lucid dream.
The pacing is alright. With 72 chapters only 3 months of 3 school years have passed. At this rate BnHA would reach 700+ chapters before the end of Deku's 3rd year at U.A..
>>With 72 chapters only 3 months of 3 school years have passed. At this rate BnHA would reach 700+ chapters before the end of Deku's 3rd year at U.A..
Assuming there's no timeskip or other shenanigans. I hope not, since Horikoshi seems to not want to follow in the common tropes used by many authors, but who knows?
Tosh is only good at making lewd scenes. He has clearly no interest in keeping his art style consistent like pic related proves. I mean look at the hair.
Still better than Horikoshi. Murata and plenty of other artists are better than Horikoshi.
Nowhere. I know the manga is good but don't act like hipsters. Unless you read only a dozen of manga you can't possibly consider his art as one of the best.
Should we build an external Errata-Site with Status (per Edition)?
Error in Chap#; Text; Example correct Text; Status in: Jump Online, Published Edition 1, Published Edition 2; ...
Tosh has been improving by leaps and bounds over the series though. It helps that that's really all he has to worry about though. Horikoshi is improving too but I still feel Tosh is better, also that prison school guy (forgot his name). Tell me pic related doesn't make you just a little gay.
>generic faces everywhere
>outright sucks at consistent antanomy
>CG! CG everywhere
He can make good shots, but he isn't consistent with his art. Sometimes Soma's hair is detailed as fuck like in your pic, sometimes it's all just a mass of black with nothing else, sometimes his pupils are white and then two chapters later they are black.
But i guess no one of the readers even cares about it, as long as there is sexy stuff for both genders who cares.
>say that to my face not online see what happens
I never mentioned consistency but I like all those guys art styles. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Drawfag here, horikoshi's art is between my top ten, mainly because everything he does looks natural and charming. Murata is insane at drawing action and super detailed spreads, but take for example the page where all might is rushing at deku-kachan team, if he drew every panel like that it wouldnt feel right. Each mangaka is as good as his style allows him to be.
Now about tosh, well the guy needs pretty faces for his manga to sell, not a fan of it, just look at the hands and clothes in >>134799165
While there being better weekly artists than Horikoshi is debatable, I really enjoy the dynamic art styles he does when drawing All Might and Shigaraki. I don't know how much of this is input from his assistants but it works really well for this manga for the heroes and villains to have their own distinct styles.
I'm not saying that i don't like Tosh's style, it's just that he doesn't really stick to one. I can understand if there are comedy relief scenes which don't need over the top art, but for example this scene makes Soma look totally different then your pic and this scene is an important one.
I can never get the name straight since I keep mixing the artist with the writer but Shokugeki No Souma's artist is pretty damn good.
Also I'll get filthy looks for this but Nigga Clover's artist can do some really fantastic backgrounds when he wants to.
You know on one hand I'm glad Tabata is getting recognition he deserves because I really enjoyed his Hungry Joker one shot
not the serialization that was a pile of garbagebut on the other hand
The guy should just stick to drawing and leave the writing to somebody else.
Oh god, i just read chapter 43 of Nigga Clover to know if the art is even a bit good and the first words were Niggerstream style multiplied by 10. Not even Bakugo would curse that much.
Dude can do alright backgrounds when he wants.
>simple geometry and perspective
Dude there are mangaka who can't even do THAT.
It'd make sense if there was a university too (I mean, support gear/marketing people don't just go into the job market with a mere high school degree...) but really I kinda hope this stays with the high school theme.
What would be the curriculum? In High school they do the basics/overall of heroics but the university could be like majoring in the certain type of hero you'd want to be like Froppy trying to be a flood type one.
Obviously the symbol of peace and justice and blah blah blah if things keep going the way they are.
I'm kind of partial to the idea of a timeskip (even if it could potentially fuck up the story), the only thing I hope is that they don't do the usual thing of making the romantic subplot last the entirety of the manga. It gets really fucking tiring when they spend the entire time with the "will they won't they" thing, specially if it takes literally years for someone who's already in love to just fucking make the step.
>2 years into the future after Deku graduates from UA
>Future Deku: I'm visiting the best Hero University of the world in the USA together with Todoroki and Ida
>Future Deku: Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that Uraraka and i are in a relationship now
So I was on Google looking for pictures of uraraka to help with my drawing and I find pic related. Why dumblr why?
>All Might gets All for One
>Stain who idolizes All Might joins him in fucking over the world
>Deku dislikes seeing All Might like this so he goes after him
>Shigaraki joins Deku because he hates All Might and Stain
I could see this being good. It doesn't make much sense sure, but fuck it.
For some reason I think Horikoshi put that mask on his costume because Midoriya's costume is really plain to begin with but realized that he looks insanely stupid with it on.
He should just give him a scarf or a robin-style eyecovering mask instead. I know the idea is that his mask makes him look like he's smiling but he looks like a demented goblin instead of mini-might.
He should just skip to the end; have him wear it in the next few fights and have it get blown off every single time necessitating repairs. Eventually, have Midoriya decide to modify his costume again to be more practical and show his face.
How long until Deku's costume design gets changed so much by the costume department that he will look like pic related?
When UA is ashes, you have my permission to change the cowl.
Someone is gonna have a facemask like that at some point if someone hasn't already.
Personally, I know it's not flashy or iconic enough for an MC but I think the ideal form of outfit for Midoriya would be Snake's CQC boosting suit from Peace Walker as pictured.
He needs something that he won't fucking trash every time he fights in it, and in the interim something that assists his limited OFA use.
I think Midoriya has the mask initially to emphasize that A. he really adores All Might and B. He's still immature in his understanding of what All Might really represents.
The Symbol Of Peace cannot hide his face.
The problem is that while we recognize Midoriya instantly, and comic characters should be recognizable instantly to readers- in his world Midoriya is about as plain-looking as white bread.
Like in his world him having a mask or a cool helmet or something would make sense. Like you said- his pointy cowl makes him look like his Idol (to him anyway).
For us readers however, we wanna see HIM. We wanna see him emote, which means we wanna see his face.
Horikoshi may have trapped himself a bit on that.
I think Hori has already foreshadowed how he's going to make Deku stick out in-universe.
>Eh?! You're All Might?! But you're so...plain looking!
<...You know how guys swagger around with their stomach sucked in at the pool? It's kind of like that.
While this depiction of Deku looks funny, I think if he were to go the All Might supermuscled route he would end up looking like Kenshiro. Would just need to have his hair slightly shorter.
I kinda picture grown-up Midoriya looking like a buffer Spike Spiegel.
Think this only with more muscle definition.
>Deku in about 200 chapters
While I agree that he could end up looking like that, I've always thought part of what makes Spike's design cool is that he has very little muscle, which helps with his overall image. Deku's definitely going to end up a lot more ripped. At the very least like how All Might looked like in the flashback with Gran Torino.
Spike is utterly ripped though. He's just built like a martial artist rather than a boxer/bodybuilder and has a tall+slight build in general. He was meant to be a tall version of Bruce Lee (and he uses Jeet Kune Do).
Midoriya doesn't necessarily have to completely take after All Might, who was built like a brick shithouse before he ever got OFA.
Don't give up man. And don't throw your stuff. You know, don't keep it in view either, but don't throw it. Make a folder in your pc and save it there. Trust me, that's part of how you improve. Revisit your drawings regularly, check what's wrong and what can you do to make it better. You're not going to see a drawing the same way right after doing it than a week or two later.
Sort of off-topic, but has there be something like a post-modern shonen?
Like, BHM isn't exactly like other shonen, but still plays it straight and already had it's tournament arc. Same goes with OPM but that's usually every time the focus isn't on Saitama.
I basically just copied from a chapter and still fugged it up.
I can't tell if it's the way you took the photo or you purposely made her have extra manly features. Either way if you fix up the jawline, mouth, neck & shoulder proportions it should be okay.
>BHM isn't exactly like other shonen
Uh, it's a lot like other shounen. It has a fairly large majority of shounen cliches. It just uses them much better than its contemporaries
OPM isn't aimed at shonen it's seinen. The message it's trying to send isn't the usual "hard-working, friendship, victory" thing WSJ titles have. Saitama's story is what happens after whatever happens in shonen series, where he becomes the plot device itself instead of a character.
>MC eats tons of food after every major battle
>Injuries, they heal after eating and sleeping for 2 days
>Fighting for his friends makes him stronger because he has something to protect
>Sexual arousal is something the MC doesn't know
I don't think i'm on the actual stand of Shonen cliches but so far i don't think Deku does any of these.
I think he'd look better built like a Slam Dunk character with shorter hair like Sakuragi in
seven days after
He eats a lot. Then again, this arc is the first time we see him eat and EVERYONE is eating a lot. In any case, considering who made his diet, I think we can safely asume he does eat a lot, even if it might not be out of pure love for it but rather getting used to it through effort.
Other than that, pretty spot on. Unless you wanna count fighting for his friends as "hey guys I just finished my training montage, isn't it convenient now that you're being attacked by a crazy ninja"?
Hey anon! Someone knocked on the door. He says he's looking for you. Will you answer?
I don't think they actually exist yet. I mean I'm sure there are shoes like it but not those exact shoes. Hope that this series gets popular so i can buy am official pair of dekushoes
The hero system as it works in MHA doesn't make much sense.
They're paid by the state to stop villains, but apparently they can't actually arrest anyone. The "normal hero" that Iida is with says as much when he's with him and chides Iida for looking for Stain.
He does! That's why Stain is a really good villain.
The hero system comes off like a band-aid over a wound that was needed when society broke down Marvel-style in the face of 80%+ of society giving birth to muties.
~150 years later? It's not particularly needed.
The heroes should be folded into the country's military, and made into a series of units authorized to use their quirks to apprehend criminals with each unit working in tandem with or under the district police. In the US they'd basically just be super State cops that are authorized to use their quirks where regular police are not- but they still work with and for the state and local police.
It only makes sense. Pay them a proper salary, make them wear a badge, give them authorization to arrest and use lethal force if necessary like any other cop.
Makes more sense than creating a fucking weird cottage industry of costumed assholes who are all but encouraged to snipe eachother's work and show off as much as possible (under insanely strict guidelines of conduct) before going to hawk junk on TV because risking your life to stop super-powered criminals apparently isn't worth a living wage.
You can't count on everyone being moralfags who're in it just for love of the game like All Might.
The word "hero" means nothing because of the way the hero system works.
A hero isn't a "job" or a "thing you do" it's a title given to someone who does something extraordinary at great expense to themselves with no presumption of reward.
There's a lot of people who are "heroes" in the hero system that're just rent-seekers who are either outright corrupt or have no respect for the job.
He thought the majority of heroes were utter phonies in costumes playing fake policeman and that they perverted the meaning of the word. So he wants to kill them.
