Season 2 of Soma confirmed?
I'd say it'd take at least 1 cour to cover the Autumn Election followed by at least 3-4 episodes of Stagiaire Week (which could possibly be extended in order to show the progress of the other characters besides Soma), followed by the introduction of the Elite 10 and Soma challenging Kuga at the carnival cookoff. Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger with Azami's introduction and his takeover of Tootsuki.
I hope it ends here, at the end of the Festival. I think it would be good enough.
I want S2 to happen, but after those BD sales I seriously doubt it. Unless if WSJ were happy with how S1 worked as an advertisement / merch push.
BD sales don't mean shit as far as Jump manga is concerned. Anime adaptations are simply meant to promote and encourage sales of the manga, which it did for Soma by a lot.
In this year's top 10 bestselling manga in Japan, Soma ranked in 7th place with more than 4 million copies sold:
Soma is definitely getting another season.

One of the better shows JC Staff adapted, I expected an S2 announcement straight away.
>caring about a fucking dub
Also where the fuck are those spoilers Nips?
So which E10 member is next for the chopping block?
My guess is Nene but I think we will probably see more of Ramenbro before that.
>yfw Rindou has the Devil's Tongue.
He's pretty and all but also bland as fuck in a series where everyone is an autist for cooking.

Shokugeki is over, but that's it? Wanted more out of souma focus.
And if that ketchup spoiler is true, i'm gonna
do nothing because Souma has used more pleb ingrediants in his dishes before
>tfw SHAFT trolling with the ending of S2 being the reveal of Kumagawa alongside adapting only Good Loser Kumagawa afterwards
Because weekly rankings only matter for newer series and are only there to gauge their potential success and how much Shueisha should invest in the series. After a certain point, the rankings don't mean shit.
In Bleach's case, the reason why it's not been cancelled is because the graphic novels are still selling well in Japan. People have been saying that Bleach is gonna get cancelled for years now and often cite the weekly rankings, but the fail to realize that Bleach consistent ranks among Oricon's Top 30 bestselling manga each year.
This year Bleach ranked in 21st place and sold over 2.8 million copies. Not extraordinary, but still a pretty good number. See the ANN link in >>134553846 for more details.
What this proves is that most of Bleach's readers in Japan prefer to follow the series through the graphic novels rather than on a weekly basis, which makes sense considering that Bleach is much more enjoyable in its graphic novel format.
tl;dr: Bleach is doing fine. It's not gonna be cancelled because its graphic novels are still selling well.
>beef stuffed chicken wing with parmasan and ketchup gyoza
Fucking this. Bleach will remain due to its graphic novel sales.
Meanwhile Toriko not only is doing bad in the rankings, but the ANN link in >>134553846 shows that Toriko didn't even make it among the Oricon Top 30.
In other words, Bleach will stay while Toriko will get shitcanned.
You know, I really used to enjoy Toriko. After the whole Pair arc the series absolutely hit rock bottom for me. I mean, the series already declined in quality after the Cooking Festival arc, but now...now it's like Shimabakuro doesn't doesn't give a fuck anymore. That or since sales and rankings have dropped Jump is, like, hurry it up. This frenetic pace really diminishes the quality of immersion and adventure the series once had. Plus the cooking scenarios aren't as exciting now since Komatsu became the biggest garystu of cooking known to man. And yes, I'm implying he's worse than Soma in that respect.
>>Souma: "see, you thought this cooking was unworthy but it had value after all"
>>Souma makes clean sweep, 3-nil
That sounds terrible but expected. What's next? Reviving the dead with cooking?
Even if the series needed "saving", which it does't for many reason, what would any of us even be able to do about it. Unless someone has Tosh on speed-dial telling the nigga what write next, there wouldn't be shit any of us could do.
MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO MOMO
Anime only fags will finally realize who best girl is.
Best girl knows best, manga is where it's at. Anime adaptations only disappoint.
That's just one faggot trying to start trouble. In fact I suspect he has been samefagging ITT to try and cause shit. Hilariously the thread is so slow and unattended that his attempts fall flat.
Souma's catch is always how pleb he is, how is this surprising?
Nigga did street meat buns against Kuga, hell he even did rice and egg for Erina.
Ketchup anon been calling it for so long now, there's no way I'd be surprised with this
>Hilariously the thread is so slow and unattended that his attempts fall flat.
I love it when this happens.
What's wrong with the Souma vs Mimasaka? Its not completely inconceivable to believe he simply cooked something better than him. Its actually quite far fetched to make it seem Mimasaka somehow knows exactly everything his opponent was going to cook.
Oh wow, the MC won with the power of NEVER GIVING UP and FRIENDSHIP
What a great solution to the unique threat poised by Eizan
Sorry guy who lost without getting his dish tasted, I guess you just didn't have any friends!
MUH FRIENDSHIP is one of the most established and overused tropes in shonen, it's your fault for expecting otherwise
Can we not forget about that guy who got expelled for using citrus scented shampoo
Like seriously what the fuck man
Shinomiya will never be okay in my book for that bullshit
Well I'm glad that is settled. Maybe now Eizan will fully devote himself to cooking instead of scheming behind the shadows.
If you don't like this, you should've left in chapter 1.
Fuck this shit. I knew Soma was gonna win from the beginning because of "muh MC plot armor" bullshit, but this is the worst possible way Tsukuda could have delivered his victory.
Funny even though I am pissed at this development, I am smiling at all butthurt from anons. Thanks guys you made this manga better.
Then don't force it. This is the problem with generals. they circlejerk even if there's nothing to circlejerk about, just to have constant threads.
>what did you think about the spoilers
>what did you think about the chapter
Just fuck off with this shit.
>oh my, one of our most important and profitable business partner just asked us for help in expelling some arrogant little shit from Japanese Hell's Kitchen
>better help him out, our deals with him rake in millions of yen
>what's that, the arrogant little shit made us a ketchup-based dish?
>HOLY SHIT THIS IS TOO GOOD, FORGET THE MONEY AND THE PROFITS, LET THE LITTLE SHIT WIN
Makes perfect sense
But even though Hayama's character is lacking, I find him more aesthetically pleasing. Tsukasa's too much of a generic pretty boy, while Hayama has that nice light hair-dark skin combo going on.
I'm gonna think with my crotch on this one and say Tsukasa is worse.
>she doesn't strip
This was literally the only thing I looked forward to in this shitty shokugeki. FUCK.
Good, nobody cares about that shitty senpai. I hope Nene or even Kuga becomes 1st/2nd seat next year, the piece of shitty muh misterious senpai can go away and become irrelevant like other PSD fodder. No wonder he rarely gets any fanart. Isshiki a shit, A SHIT.
I was expecting them to do something clever to overcome the big "obstacle" in this arc, which is the fact that Eizan bribes the judges. Some trick or team effort to make it so they have no choice but to judge the dishes by their merit.
But no, just food NTR. I'm starting to wonder why I expected any better.
Jesus Christ, stop already you insufferable faggot.
All the girls are fine, enough of your autistic waifu wars.
Who is the sexiest in this series, and why is it pic related?
The sexiest is him, Rindou, and Kuga. No doubt.
Again we see the borderline sociopathic moral of a shounen hero succeeding with the power of friendship but not really
There's literally a million better ways this could have been handled besides the MC's dish being JUST THAT GOOD
Like, Tosh wants us to think that friendship is why Souma won, fine, whatever.
How about you ACTUALLY MAKE THAT PART OF HIS VICTORY in a way more significant besides LOL KETCHUP
Erina is pretty fucking elite, have her blackmail the judges so they'll judge fairly
Or have Naked-Senpai pull some Elite 10 priviledge to make it a fair match
Or have one of the irrelevant side characters have a keikaku that undermines Eizan's keikaku
Do fucking SOMETHING besides Easy Mac and Ketchup!
Reminder that Soumafags are cancer who worship invincible shounen heroes and asspulls.
If you see one out in public(unlikely), you should strangle them to death. Trust me, their mothers WILL thank you
147: Commence counterattack!!
Soma offers Rindo-sempai his dish.
She reacts sexily but her clothes does not rip off.
Eizan asks what the hidden flavour was. It was ketchup.
One of the judges: “ although it was B-class gourmet, it was an awesome combination.” He then asks Soma how he came up with such a dish.
Soma: “the idea came to me when I was with the others in PSD“
The scene shifts to PSD. Hisako is doing defense against Eizan’s subordinates. Flashback starts from conversation between Erina and Hisako.
The PSD members make new attempts at presenting Erina with their cooking.
Yoshino did something completely different from the advice Erina had given, so Erina got mad at her.
Erina eats Yoshino’s food, and felt it is of a higher level than her previous dish. The PSD students were clearly working hard together behind the scenes.
Erina: “with such clashing of absurd/preposterous ideas with each other, unimaginable answers were born…”
Back to the shokugeki area.
Soma says to the judges: “this dish has the weight of countless days I spent clashing with all the other PSD students in it, the PSD you sought to destroy!”
The judge who had refused to taste Soma’s dish last chapter flashbacks to when Eizan had roped him in as part of the shokugeki farce.
Soma: “I will destroy the boring way of thinking/idea that there is but one correct interpretation of cooking a dish”
The judge finally tastes Soma’s dish.
Soma: “Not something to be cast away/to be discarded, right? Even the cooking you guys deem worthless”
Judgement 3-0 in favour of Soma.
Welp, Time to permanently abandon this shit series. In a few years this will be the new Naruto. What a shame. You could have been something, SnS. But you choose to be another cash grab for kids.
>Eizan asks what the hidden flavour was. It was ketchup.
Wait so Mac and Cheese Anon was right?
Think about it
Elite 10 = Atasuki
Azami = Itachi
Rindou = Tobi
Be prepared for even more unbearable shounen cliches.
Because she's used goods. If girls eat food in this series it's like they're getting a good dicking. Rindou tasted so many di
shesthat she became completely numb. Souma has to give her some high class dish to make her strip.
It's not shit but it's not near as good as to strip her down.
This slut has probably tasted countless dishes so this dish is maybe set around the middle-range of all that she has had.
Given all the dishes shes had, only the best top-tier dish will make her strip.
Either that or some kind of new dish that presents a flavor she hasn't tasted yet.
Just to be sure, I'm talking about dishes here.
So since it's official now, where do you guys think season 2 of the anime will end? Kuga?
Either end of the elections, or end of the stagiaire. Stagiaire would probably be the best place for them to end after. They'd get a solid open ending that doesn't break from the manga.
>Use a picture of aang on >>/a/
>trying to draw lines to Naruto
>shounen cliches in a shounen
>uses a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger on /a/
>tries to defend shit tier shounen writing
I'm not mad at Souma winning over Eizan cooking, Souma trained with one of the best cooks in the world and Eizan didn't try hard enough (probably). The annoying thing is how the fuck did he overcome the judges, that's what fucking stupid, it could have been a better arc without this and Eizan just winning over everyone, to suddenly get rekt'd because he was not trying hard enough. That was more simplier yet tastes better than this "My food is so good bribed judges can't deny it".
You can't run from shitty writing if you force shitty villains into your story. After Azami and now Eizan its pretty fucking clear the author has no idea how to do villains and was probably forced to do so by editors.
The manga was good enough before Azami showed up, when it was just about students challenging themselves in order to improve with the occasional rivalry.
I'm fine witg this arc. I'm still liking Souma like always.
But I just feel like it would be better and more shocking just Eizan accepting defeat.
From my point of view, it does seem harder for a proud cunt like Eizan to accept defeat than a couple of backstabbers backstabbing their contractor.
The problem is the author doesn't know much about how human's mentality works, so this series better remains a SoL story, the moment he inserts edge villains into it, he fails completely.
Everyone should know by now on who the best girl of 2015 is.
That's really my main issues with the whole thing. Soma is being made out to all of a sudden being able to compete with the best cooks of the school in their specialized fields on the spot without having any time to really prepare much. At least during the elections they showed how he struggled and had to spend time learning and preparing only to still come out a bit short of what others have done their entire life, now all of a sudden he is on par or better on a moments notice. It's dumb
>this dish carries the thoughts of my comrades
Pffft hahaha, hilarious but I'm not a chef. That sweet umami of catsup saves the day.
Glad Soma finally won an important match, about a goddamn time.
If they do it pretty much has to be about some niche of a niche of luxurious Italian food for Takumi to even stand a chance or otherwise have Soma in a laughably disadvantageous situation. I don't really remember having seen much of anyone elses growth since Stagiaire, but I doubt everyone around Soma all of a sudden leveled up enough to shit on E10 members.
I get where you are coming from. I don't have a problem with this arc, but I think many readers don't really care about or have any respect for Eizan, even as a cook.
Most of the cries about how Souma shouldn't have won are about the rigged situation, not about Eizan's ability, after all.
Because there was zero build up to it. Usually you at least see Soma prepare and mess about trying to overcome the next big hurdle, but here it was literally just "Let's have a Shokugeki Eizan-> k, but the judges are bribed lol -> k, but my food is so good it doesn't matter". The middle part, all the build up, was entirely missing.
It'll be like at the end of Battle City arc where Joey dueled Yugi and we don't see the battle but its revealed later on that he has his Red-Eyes (knife) back in the next arc. Something like that don't need serious attention that or a draw.
Joey comes after Yugi and Kaiba in terms of strength, unfortunately this means that he is indeed a jobber, but he jobs in style
>technically won the duel against one of the big bads but the damage his body sustained was so much during the duel that he lost consciousness and almost died right before he could do his winning move.
Yu-Gi-Oh always has "that one character who wins more often than loses but also gets the ever loving shit kicked out of them"
Rooting for them is suffering.
I don't even want Takumi to get his knife back. As long as mezzaluna is with Souma, Aldini will remain kind of relevant. If he gets his knife back, that would be a short moment of glory, but I'm afraid he will disappear from plot afterwards.
How is this asspull really? It's not like Eizan is a super great cook or anything right? He's just a fucking food merchant.
I bet it's just a bunch of no-life troll that keep on parroting about asspull and gary stu and shit.
>Well? These nuts aren't going to lick themselves ya know.
>power of friendship
It's worse than I could have imagined.
W-what can be more important than main rival of MC returning back his main weapon?
>main rival of MC
Oh please. Hayama and Kurokiba are the only true rivals Soma has. A rematch between the three of them would be much more important than one with Takumi.
More things that are more important:
Polar Star vs. Elite 10 and Azami Administration.
Soma trying to actually become an Elite 10 member and hopefully change things from the inside.
Getting Erina to admit that Soma is a good cook.
Soma actually winning in a cooking match with his father.
Speaking of Kurokiba, he's been in silent mode for too long. Where the fuck is the crazy batshit insane badass Kurokiba?
What are you implying guys?
Please stop thinking like that.
Y-you see, all those panels with parallels, they mean something f-for sure.
