I miss my old cat
Then close your eyes and pretend it's 2006
I'm sad there won't be any people who remember the same moments I do. Does anyone remember the anon who tried to do a box opening, but left his address, so we looked him up and he was a music teacher? And we found pictures of him and people made edits. I'm sad that I'll never be able to share that memory with anyone.
Same. Fuck this shit. Everything I know suddently happened tons of years ago. I've totally lost track oft time. Even Grumpy Jiisan disappeared near the beginning of 2011. It feels to me like it was 2013 or something.
Not him, I posted >>134446141, but I was just using the filename as evidence that he didn't screencap it in response to >>134446116. Even if he did change the filename, that obviously doesn't mean that he is an oldfag or that he actually screencapped it, either, and I didn't mean to imply that it did.
This. I can live with the shitty rest but this is something that makes me always sad whenever I remember these things.
Not him but I am always kinda shocked to see how many of them left. Most people nowadays joined around 2011 or even later and when there are threads asking about age they are usually filled with people who aren't much older than 15. 21 at best. They certainly didn't join 4chan when they were 6 or 8 or something.
Did you drop in here yesterday or something
Jesus Christ, reading comprehension of the charts.
>1: Why did you screencap it?
>2: OP obviously didn't. Look at the filename.
>3: Changing the filename doesn't make him an oldfag
Changing it has nothing to do with anything. 2 is telling 1 that OP didn't take that screenshot, because the filename suggests that OP saved the screenshot after it had been posted somewhere else by someone else. 3 is retarded by trying to show off his knowledge of how filenames are related age yet fails to understand that if someone had taken that screenshot themselves, they wouldn't name the file that way.
I miss the not-evil lawlessness of the old internet. Browsing stuff nowadays is fucking shit, half of youtube is blocked and even getting hard to download movies and shit because of those damn anti-piracy drones that are everywhere.
Was that a long time ago? Not in the last 2-3 years?
I remember that but I haven't been here for longer than that. Unless what I saw was an archive/screenshot of that and I'm remembering as if I saw it at the time.
So how does one name screen caps? Sometimes I screen cap a image from an eroge and then paste in paint to save it. Does it matter how you save it? Like character names or what not?
We got ourselves a detective in the building.
>someone had taken that screenshot themselves, they wouldn't name the file that way.
OP could just been using 4chanx and randomizing file-names.
You think I didn't save the original of this as well?
Oh look another nostalgia circlejerk over what /a/ once was.
Well let me let you in on a secret: old /a/ was terrible. Old /a/ is the sort of shit that would make you get called out as a newfag and saged a thousand times over.
Instead of nostalgia fagging over a bunch of old shit, how about you try and make the board as it is now good? You can only change the present.
That and YouTube. everything felt more creative when it came to fakes and rumors. everyone was in their own forum and shit. Now, people think you're weird if you don't have a Facebook or something.
Somewhere along the way, something that should have been simple turned into something that isn't any longer.
I suspect someone doesn't know how 4chan filenames work.
>moe screen cap
Nice job faggot.
Wow. You been here for a WHOLE year.
LN threads have been mod approved on /a/, because it'd be silly to not allow them here. A lot of anime and manga adaptations are originally LNs and fit perfectly on the board nor do they drown shit out
I remember clearly being able to say something stupid with it being treated as nothing more than a joke, people laughing at it, repeating it a little and moving on instead of it being turned it a epic meme, repeated for all eternity and then jammed on t-shots
>There are people who use that site and are unaware it's all copypaste from 4chan threads
What sort of existential hell
It was really much better. No jewoogle youtube filled with let's play cancer, vevo and those video bloggers whatever they are called. No one cared about tumblr. No people arguing about political bullshit on twitter. No memes leaking into reddit-9gag-facebook and then dying less than a week after.
Facebook opened the normalfag floodgates. Everything feels much more expossed now.
Even the japanese internet is shit now, they only care about twitter trends.
Seriously, why do people do that? All the "Rage Comics" and whatnot were unique because it self-contained on 4chan and now it's forced so hard. It's not even the comics, it could be something that trends and will be forced everywhere.
I don't think the Internet ruined anyone, I think it's the social outlet that fuels their attention and it fucking sucks.
I've seen threads from 4chan on there where there were posts made on that site itself responding to legitimate 4chan posts and acting like they were having a conversation with them
Maybe I'm just too young to have appreciated it, but I feel like most of the shit around 2004-2008 was just the same sort of shit we frown on now, except maybe less attention-whorish.
>sometime long ago you got banned from 4chan
>so you started browsing the 4chan archive
>but it's been so long that you've forgotten that this is just an archive and you're not actually talking to anyone
I honestly think a lot of the memes and "internet culture" nowadays are the exact same kind of shit we used to get, except they're being used by people you don't like for conversations you don't like, which sours you on them. It's like when your dad overheard some words you and your friends were using and started using them to sound "with it."
Money contaminated it.
It stopped being a bunch of retards sharing injokes with their fellow retards and became business types selling one group of retards injokes to another, completely unrelated group of retards
Probably never. Many people are attentionwhores and attentionwhores hate it when they're leftout of something so they'll always pretend to be part of whatever culture their talking partners or facebook friends are part of.
He is the guy who founded 4chan. He posted using 'moot'. It's like a meme not to forget him and to say who cause he never really showed up anywhere. I will say that I do see a lot more loli threads now that we have the new nip guy from 2chan. You even see loli in /c/ now aswell
>He is the guy who founded 4chan. He posted using 'moot'. It's like a meme not to forget him and to say who cause he never really showed up anywhere. I will say that I do see a lot more loli threads now that we have the new nip guy from 2chan. You even see loli in /c/ now aswell
THE one internetcrowd didn't exist back then and normalfags were too casual and stupid to use the internet more than 10 years ago so no, memes like you know it didn't exist back then.
Technically yes but they're rarely discussed unless they have a corresponding manga/anime adaption so they get free pass.
Technically buyfag thread also belong in /jp/ but they stick to their thread and were grand-fathered in.
you're just mad because people outside of 4chan thought the joke was funny, which is honestly pretty stupid.
4chan isn't a password protected site where everyone who browses is sworn to secrecy about what goes on in it.
Yup, pretty much.
Some people in my family still force 10 year old jokes or funny quotes from every-day life to this day, I honestly never got why anons got so mad about the sudden popularity of this site's stuff in other places, it was bound to happen.
Well guess what? The MAJORITY of people find it funny. And when they don't anymore, it'll die. And then a minority will force it, and that's when it'll be a forced joke.
That's funny and sad at the same time.
Yahoo chatrooms for anime where anime was most certainly not discussed.
Huge, bloated pages with gaudy backgrounds, lots of flashing kawaii images, and auto-playing music that wrecked my browser.
Oldest one I have, though IIRC this is the first one that was made. I started here in 07 but maybe I missed some.
I've seen people reply through ghost in normal threads like they though they were talking to other posters.
2011 always make me realise that I considered myself an oldfag at the time because I started posting in 2007, glad I stopped caring about it, in fact, my whole experience with this site might be defined as a long, depressing misery.
Some tripfag used to do that when he was banned.
I honestly don't know why people find this odd, it's not like every post you make in here is granted to be read or replied by others.
Sometimes I wish internet existed when I was a child, I had like 5 years without any friends that were boring as hell there because I had nothing to do aside from reading random books.
On the other hand I've learned tons of things during that time, due to all the reading.
That was the fun people had back then, they're now cancer since they became something completely different after they became "mainstream".
Look at any demotivational now and it's completely missing the point. Desu spam is kind of non-existant now that Rozen Maiden is over and dead.
Don't think that's possible
That shithead is making bucks by having his pages come up on google searches when looking for the archive with adds built in the site
How hasn't anyone taken him down yet?
I used to do that until I realized that threads that are replied to in /ghost/ get bumped up to the top when browsing /ghost/.
The embarrassment that anyone browsing could see the posts that I made in years old threads like I was some crazy guy was too much so I stopped.
Memes used to be more like injokes; they'd be used one in a while and if someone else got it you knew they were also in on it. Now, they burnout in a week after it's been shouted ad nauseam and joked about from every conceivable angle.
I remember some popular kid saying "Come at me bro" and realizing that pretty much every kid went on the internet, instead it just being nerds on forums, oekakis, and shit. The casualization of the internet hasn't been a wholly bad thing, but there's very few places that are truly individualistic anymore. Most people spend their time on aggregate sites or social media and fansites and forums are a mostly a thing of the past.
>There might be somebody responding to this thread in ghost right now
I really don't know what I'll do if 4chan stops existing one day, like in that comic.
I don't know where to post anymore, everything I visited in the early 00s is dead for a very long time.
Since I never really made an actual meme past some multi-quoted mistakes or bad puns, I never really cared about stolen content either, not even about scanlations I did for /a/.
You have no idea.
/a/ is serious business you little shit
Not even lying when Hiro was discussing the rules about nipples on /a/ that was the most worked up I've gotten in years. The fact that whether or not animated titties are banned on an imageboard fires me up like it's a life or death debate is great.
This is the kind of people the social media boom brought us. Such an ugly sight, always caring about real and social life.
I don't see most of my few friends anymore, the others are dead and I got some illness so yeah it's pretty empty although I am not that sad about it as it may sound to you. At least not as long as I have the internet, games and anime.
Being new I always wondered where did those backgrounds come from
>arrived to 4chan in '06
>regularly browsing /a/ since '10.
I realized I am happier with many haters and only a few friends than being liked by many people.
Being yourself is the best thing.
I actually like 4chan because I never pretend to be something I am not here.
It would have been the same here. /a/'s motto is basically browse until you can replicate the thoughts and posting styles of the majority so that we can all stay one big hivemind
AKA lurk moar
>that chuuni-esque shame of knowing you had a Myspace account
Do you still remember your very first post on 4chan?
I did some shitty post with a name in which I greentext-quoted some guy to show him what a newfag he is but did some mistake and people realized I was a total newfag as well. I posted better shit after that and never used a shitty name anymore. Must have been around 2008 or something.
My 3 biggest hobbies of the past 5-6 years have all been found on 4chan, as well a lot of my way of speaking and what I find funny are because of the time I've spent on 4chan.
why would I not choose to stop seeing "it's time" and threads for shows I will never watch
not to mention tripfags where literally every single one of their posts is shitposting
>LoL (played that all day everyday for a few years)
>anime/manga/VNs (have put thousands of hours into this)
>lifting (have been lifting and getting /fit/ for the past 5 months)
Depends on the threads. I frequent a variety of sites
even tumblr, and take viewpoints but I've never been called out on it. My posting style's pretty much like this everywhere too. As long as you're reasonable and avoid buzzwords, people won't give you shit.
You keep saying this, and then you post lists where you've seen about average and claim that the rest of /a/ has seen less and that everyone else is wrong about how much /a/ has seen. Every time I see you challenged on your knowledge, you prove that your power level is nothing exceptional.
>Got blamed for kekking i girl i haven't even met
>Lost friends one by one
>Dropped out of college
>Parents won't even look me in the eye
Currently locked inside my room browsing 4chin, reading WN/LN/mango, occassionally playing vidya
If you filter out the elements of /a/ that you don't like you're not experiencing the real /a/. Only thing I've ever filtered was accel spam.
I know like 1000 kanji. I'm going to get back into it any day now.
>people seriously having nostalgia over this shitty site
>look at old 4chan screenshots
>"epic for the win"!!
>"1 thousand internets for you good sir"
>a lot of people are very clearly underage
>LOL THIS WINS SO MUCH INTERBUTT XD
>memes are extremely shallow, nothing as varied as bane, ben garrison or modern spurdo
>people unironically thinking they are legion and shit
>site functionality is garbage, goes down or gets DDOS'd all the time
Is this the shit people worship all the time? And don't come to me with "but it was only us
who acted like this, normalfags didn't so it was ok!" No, not really it's not any less awful.
Face it man, the vast majority of /a/ has seen <300 shows.
The majority of the time I played LoL was before Dota2 was released I'm pretty sure.
hey, an oldfag thread.
Anyone still remember when Geneon went down? I do.
Its the same as
people reminiscing about BC/Vanilla wowfags.
Everything has a meta these days, so you have a well planned stream of conversation. Back then, there was no-little meta.
thats wrong, the reason it's awful is because everything we said, created, joked around here was terrible cringe worthy shit that was worth a quick laugh. Suddenly you have people actually laughing and repeating this shit in actual social situation like what the fuck waking up in bizaro world
>only finsihed 385 anime
What a fucking casual and he thinks he can talk hot shit? Does he think everyone on fucking /a/ is a MALbabby or something if he thinks he's seen more than 80% of /a/
I don't keep track, but I'd be surprised if I haven't reached that many, especially if you count shorts.
Real question should be how much anime have you watched that was made before 1995.
It was a more innocent time, anon.
But it's true, when all those things and mannerisms went mainstream, people started to feel the need to distance themselves from the old ways. We could still post like that and even frogpost if it hadn't been appropriated by normalfags and other undesirables.
Of course, because 4chan would have died by then
>In twenty years you'll be saying how much better things were in 2015.
Assuming the site is still up and the world didn't fuck up that all technology went back to the dark ages.
So remember everyone
Which days are repost day?
Can you just kill yourself already
I think he stopped browsing 4chan completely, and just comes back every couple months. Now he's on 8 c h a n or whatever the offshoot is.
>yfw almost 60% of the current /a/ was never around when Komeiji was around
>yfw almost 80% of 4chan don't even know who moot is
I only remember the ones that shitpost hard enough or long enough. Park Ranger, YotsubaC, SHiN and Komeiji are good examples.
Tripfags these days are just boring anons with names.
To be fair, this is probably true. I had visited /a/ off and on for a few years but I distinctly remember watching TTGL around the time that I became a regular here. Not really sure what made me stay at the time but I'm glad I'm here. /a/ is the only tolerable place for anime discussion of any sort. I'm 25 for the record, since I see age being thrown around here and there.
That's the beauty of it mate. It's the most versatile reaction image, it can fit with (almost) anything you want it to.
He changes his waifu every so often I think, and he posts on MAL or something. I haven't really checked up on him in a while though
Sometimes I wonder if it would be a good idea to create sub-boards. Give them an address like /a/opm/ and limit it to one, maybe two pages. Perhaps have them show up in the catalog of the "mother board".
He's a lot less shitposty now. He joined the TERA Online /a/ crowd and found a qt anon to fug.
Guess not being a lonely sack of shit fixed most his autism.
Although they're constantly having fights now (latest one was about one of them sending nudes to a trap, forgot the specifics but they were fighting in a discord channel) so idunno. I just know that the doesn't shitpost at all now.
Not nearly as old but still good.
The Toradora stream for Christmas has already started this year, it's tangentially related.
He went to MAL after walls of text ranting, came back a few times and then disappeared again. Noire from Neptunia is his waifu now? Or maybe it changed again.
I used to browse /a/ a lot more a couple of years ago. Honestly it hasn't changed much and a lot of the shows that were talked about a lot are still talked about.
If anything, /a/ has changed too little.
I miss seeing sysadmin and his perfect tastes post in all the same threads as me.
I believe Nepu is his waifu now. Or at least that was the case a year ago or so. I don't know how true >>134451002 is. It's possible though I guess.
He was actually back here recently, maybe about a month ago or two?
I think he only comes there whenever there's a VN thread, since in the 3 maybe 4 cases he has in the past two years, it's been to post in a VN thread and argue about whether they're video games or not.
Goodnight guys I love you!
The Toradora christmas stream is my favorite time of year.
4chan is currently owned by a guy who did this exact thing to another famous mainstream website for the purpose of data mining, illegally. Whether it is legal or not doesn't stop anyone from doing it.
How is that any different to what 4chan has been for the past 8 or so years? There are hundreds of thousands of people on post throughout any given 24 hour period and the vast majority are spergs who have an outright hatred of creating thinking. Look at the catalogue for the top ten boards. Compare their archived threads and you'll notice a trend: it's the same shit mindlessly reposted, day in, day out. If the robot were to be invoked on the top ten boards for a week, the overall site wide pph would diminish dramatically and you know it.
Just talked to this faggot. Made me come here for the first time in a year or more.
Personally, I feel S2 was a lot less entertaining than the first. Overused jokes, poor setups for the comedy, etc. It had a few episodes here and there that excelled but overall, it fell flat. I have yet to start the 3rd season but I hope it's an improvement.
>are all your lives this empty?
I don't even know if I'll have somewhere to sleep next year. And here I am, shitposting instead of finding a job.
I really want to like it, but there's just so many goddamn retards there. Half the time people don't source any claims they make in the OP, and people just believe it anyway (especially with stuff pertaining to 4chan. It's always "hey guys I saw someone on 4chan do something stupid!" and a shit-ton of replies believing him without any proof or link to the thread it happened in).
I could go on all day about this but that is just the thing that pisses me off the most about 8clap, and I just needed to vent it somewhere. You'd think the people who post on the chan that GG moved to would be more interested in making their claims credible, but nope. They just love to gossip about anything.
I think the main unifying thing that did it was a wave of people who used it "as a distraction." It's just en extension of their normal lives that they fill idle minutes with, and that's the issue. It's better as something separate.
>It would have been the same here
Except here I would've been acting smart about anime and shit that I actually enjoyed, not pretending to be an expert about whatever came up in class or the news. And people wouldn't fucking praise me for it, because people here are smart enough to tell when you Googled some shit and call you out on it.
Pretty sad state of affairs when you are surrounded by spergs who get triggered at the thought of someone else laughing. lol is a perfectly useful way to respond to something to let someone else know that you found their post amusing. Maybe it is all the spergs here who are deeply confused at the concept of humour who read such things, fail to comprehend and feel left out. Instead of lurking moar or getting a fucking clue that people like to be jocular, they flip the fuck out like the little snowflakes they've been raised as and throw a tantrum till people change their behaviour to suit their mood.
So many times I've come across things posted in the past few years that were legitimately funny as fuck where the only response was physically laughing to the point of pushing shit, and you want to let the person know that what they did made you lose your shit. Now, if you were to post something like "fucking lol, that was hilarious" or "I lost my shit, anon", you'd end up with a small patrol of autists just waiting to start tearing down the thread with quote arrows/green text, derailing all discussion just to let the rest of the thread know fully aware that the concept of someone communicating their experienced response to something funny is deeply offensive and it triggered something deep, deep inside of the sperg. We have came to the point wherein /a/ may as well have trigger warnings at the top of every thread, as the spergs freak out no different to the babbling spastics on tumblr who go looking for things that offend the sensibilities of one of their tuplas or whatever the fuck mental illness is being glorified that month.
I miss dutchguy. I miss the Oreimo shit flinging threads
At least modern /a/ can still produce gold
Why is it that /a/ is one of the only boards that can still do half decent screenshots
>This shit isn't interesting or funny.
You only think that because you weren't there. People liked it because it was dumb fun
I asked some anon to post a picture of him with one of his socks in his mouth and he did it. That was my "huh, neat", moment. That was over a decade ago, wonder if that anon is still trucking along.
I lurked for over a year before finally making a reply in a thread. I just never felt the need to say anything.
I don't really remember what my first post was. Probably didn't even get any replies.
Don't be such a baby. They get "triggered" by you using lol, and likewise you get "triggered" by them saying mean things to you. There really isn't anything for you to complain about.
>derailing all discussion
Whatever you're accusing them of is more of a discussion that "lol" is. Can you try getting some perspective on your own self before you rant?
>or whatever the fuck mental illness is being glorified that month.
can we glorify parkinson's? or will that be the hip new slur when /a/ turns 65?
I can see it now:
>being a parky
Wasn't there a forced anon period way back when? That'd be interesting to see.
I think kek is much better than lol because it never gets sprinkled everywhere the same way lol used to. You'd answer a question and they'd say "Oh yeah lol I get it now," and stuff like that. It was like everyone was some genki little girl finishing their sentences with desu.
You're all a great bunch of people that I would like to talk to and argue with until the end of time if it were possible.
I don't know what I'll do after this site inevitably bites the dust.
Why does time have to keep moving on?
It's from pic related.
Top gun -> top lel -> top kek
It's separate from the WoW kek.
