ITT: Hype fights in manga that ended up being underwhelming
The whole point of the fight was that it looked to the onlookers like a foolish mess of a duel between a weak one armed man who can't hold onto his sword and a blind man, but the readers understand that from the perspective of the two combatants, it was actually a very deep and thought out struggle.
Two cripples who got their life fucked up because of how warped it is to take the bushido life to the extreme, refuses to accept that reality and in keep going on because of their pride.
The fight is meant to look shitty because it's two cripples having to basically make up an entirely different way of fighting because of their disability. There isn't meant to be any semblance of dignity in the fight.
Tanikaze vs Benis V2
Tanikaze vs Ochiai
Takamura vs Hawk in Hajime no Ippo. Hype as fuck build up but super dull because it ended up being a contest of pic related and Takamura just won by the power of friendship in the end. Also went on too long.
Every single tower of god fight ever
Just do something Baam pls
Final fight in Teppu was a little underwhelming compared to the others. I know the her loss was pretty much guaranteed, I just wish that the fight could have gone on a little longer, and revealed just a little bit more of each character's unique
Motherfucking Psychosis. Jesus Christ I was not expecting Yuzuko to be more fundamentally fucked in the head than Natsuo, but there you go.
Here's hoping there's a sequel. That shit was amazing, despite my opinion of the finale.
Believe or not, animation like that was actually one of the most expensive at the time. It was suppose to look flow-like and fluid as it was. It's been used in other well-known animes as well dumbass.
>baki clearly loses
>but because he made yuujiro play along with his gay-ass make believe
>yuujiro says baki is the strongest ever
>baki says yuujiro is the winner
>the narration box and the crowd says "this was the greatest fight ever and the best possible ending!"
fuck you, Itagaki.
I'm having fun so far, Musashi had a pretty good fight with Retsu, and while he's winning all his fights he's definitely respecting the fighters of this era. he's not just walking the fuck all over them. Pickle himself hasn't been seen yet.
I was surprised at the stupidity Aguero has because he mocked Rachel, that never goes well.
She always fucks everyone up in the end yet they still don't learn that you need to be wary of her.
Rachel is the best character in ToG
>Izou is strong enough to make up for the loss of 5 Teigu users!
>He fights with a normal sword, where everyone and their mother uses Teigu!
>He killed a MC!
>Bout to fight Akame baby
>Gets cut down in three pages
>Final request is denied
While I was initially really disappointed with this fight, there are bits of it I like in retrospect, and think it might've been OK if the circumstances surrounding it had been different.
But as it was, it was a massive let-down. Budo had been stomping about for about 10 chapters, looking like he might do something interesting, his hostility to the PM was emphasised quite a bit, as well as his being on Esdeath's level.
But then it turns out his main purpose is to get his ass kicked to make the MC's new power-up look good.
Yeah, Izou was also a disappointment. He didn't get as much hype as Budo, so while I don't think it was as much of a let-down, he seemed more pointless, as the way he got talked up led to nothing.
Pretty much. I've never been as down on her as a lot of people, but a lot of the recent things they've done with her seem like they were intended to build her up, but instead of making her look good, they've just made the others look bad.
It was underwhelming in that the main antagonist got btfo so hard but it was still arousing anyway.
In that case Shitland Saga is a good candidate.
They fucking hyped that huge-ass superstrong horse-punching viking (i forgot all their names) and now we'll never see him again.
Shibukawa vs Yanagi. It didn't technically happen, but it should have. Even though I was happy to see Motobe return in excellent form, Shibukawa deserved the fight a lot more.
There's several different perspectives on what was meant in that ending. How are you perceiving it?
I thought it was simply Yuujiro not wanting to be alone at the "top of the mountain" anymore, hence him pleading Baki to be stronger earlier in the fight; but I've heard a lot of people say things more along your lines - that they were supposed to each say the other won, thereby not having a "real" victor.
Has Itagaki said anything about it in interviews?
The extreme amount of time Inoue has dedicated to research and whatnot in preparation for that arc certainly does not indicate that it will be that way. Could be, but very unlikely.
Biggest buildup to the shittest fight ever. After all those chapters of introducing a boring ass character he dissapears and is not mentioned ever again after.
It became more of an exhibition of how powerful this was than an actual fight and he still had to stall for time to use it again
Let's see how it fares against someone who can trade shots with it
You're joking right?
The point is that it was underwheling but also epic at the same time.
Irako's technique was truly insane and Fujiki would have likely lost. It's ironic that a technique created by accident by Kogan's daughter, essentially the Kogan school, was what defeated Irako.
From your point of view, Fujiki was barely able to get a lucky hit which is still insane considering Irako was completely blind, so to be able to wage so much just to trick Irako is ridiculous.
It was a good fight but look at it from an outsider perspective.
A one handed man threw his sword away for no reason, the blind mind was blind and didn't know what he was doing and got killed. The fight will always be remembered as a battle between two bumbling idiots, not as this grandiose fight with a lot of history behind it.
I fucking love Shigurui.
