I liked everything kyoani I watched and pretty much the only series I have left is Free!.
I'm pretty sure I'm not gay, as such I was wondering if it makes sense for me to watch it.

The year is 2018 and Kyoani is the best once again. They learned to adapt better material after Violet Ever Garden. Yamada has been directing a movie every other year since Koe No Katachi thanks to its success. Ishihara was forced to commit seppuku after Phantom World bombed so season 2 of Euphonium turned out a masterpiece. Kyoani found a way!

Some single episodes are very well done thanks to the respective episode directors/storyboarders but since the director was both a newcomer and a rabid fujoshi the characterization and story composition suffered from a lot of her decisions.
Cast is likeable, their interactions are entertaining, the water animation looks fantastic and the OST is incredibly good though so if you like KyoAni I'd say try a few episodes to see if it's for you.

Just finished Hibikek a few minutes ago, had a slow first couple episodes for me but wrapped up surprisingly well. Can't wait for the second season now.

It made me wish I did band in high school. I'm very aware that it wasn't an accurate portrayal of the real thing (my best friend was in it and always told me about the silly shit that went on) but I'm sure it still would've been fun.

Phantom World is a LN, correct? On Wikipedia it repeatedly describes it simply as a novel, as if intentionally trying to make it out to be more than an anime story without an anime (yet.) I mean I've never heard of literature that says an illustrator's name on the front cover. I shouldn't start expecting something like Hyouka or Euphonium if it's a LN.

Takemoto's done Fumoffu, Amaburi, and the LS OVA. The chuuni gags in Chu-2 were great and I did in fact find Nichijou funny but I wouldn't say it's a clear victory. To my taste I find Takemoto the best.

I'm dissapointed they're barely marketing Phantom World at all. This is why their sales have been low recently, word of mouth can only do so much and only if the show is actually pretty good. They may have a loyal following but the bigger the viewership, the bigger the number of people willing to buy a show. I doubt the loyal fans can spread the word as much as good marketing. This is probably why their outstanding shows like Hyouka and Hibike start with slow sales and then get a boost, because word of mouth actually worked for those shows since they're so good.

The plot is the worst part about Hyouka because it's always some completely boring blown way out of proportion. The character interaction which is what we all usually agree is the best part is essentially no different than what CGDCT shows are entirely about.

I like how all the thick lines fit perfectly in her face. Like in the last screen of pic related. The lines are just so perfect and Mirai's design, with blush lines and thick glasses, as well as big eyes, makes all the line art fit pretty well and symmetrically. Probably BECAUSE they're PA Works fans. Look at their other shows, do you think they made a fanbase fit for Uchouten Kazoku? Although lately I've seen a lot more recognition in PA threads when asked what their best work is. As for non-PA Works fans, it just wasn't very known at first, but it's grown a bit by now and the general consensus is that it's very good, although it's still pretty obscure. There are some people that dislike it but those people will always exist.

Maybe they just want to make a name for themselves. KyoAni is pretty popular, and getting an anime by them would give the author some recognition. If you publish with someone else, there's no guarantee your work will be known, much less a hit. With someone with as much following, viewership, and a low number of titles like KyoAni, your work could stand out more, specially if it's their very first Grand Prize after like 5 or 6 years of honorable mentions. The promised anime would be the cherry on top to make your name more widespread.
