Lucky Roux is depicted as a swordsman in the second page of the first chapter of the manga, I already posted the page.

A mere flashback of Koshiro allowed Zoro to cut steel.

Without Haki, Zoro's technique was proven to be stronger than Mihawk's, because he defeated the Humandrills who used Mihawk's exact techniques sans haki.

It's stated that Shanks and Mihawk never settled the score as swordsman, so if anything they are tied at #1 but Mihawk has the public title and Shanks doesn't give a fuck about it. Shanks used his sword against all strong opponents in the story so far.

Even if you remove all four of those names from the list, there's still 6 presumably above Zoro at this point.

I agree that Zoro is one of the strongest swordsmen now, but top 5 is pushing it.

I disagree. Mihawk uses haki in conjunction with his swordsmanship. I don't think that a devil fruit should disqualify someone from being a swordsman. It makes sense for him to be as strong as he can be with his sword and using his ability with it makes sense. Also given Fujitora's sense of honor if you were strong enough to defeat his gravity to a certain extent, and a good enough swordsman, he might in fact willingly stop using it and fight you swordsman to swordsman. If Usopp was a swordsman he still would only have CoO. I think that if one magic can be used to advance your swordsmanship, so can another. Devil Fruits are universal in that if you find one you can eat one. Haki is universal in that it's latent inside of people, but not everyone can access it, and in a sword fight where one user has haki and the other doesn't, one has invincible swords and the ability to take slashes bare skinned and the other doesn't.

No, that's not how that would work at all. If Usopp was a swordsman, he'd unlock CoA. He only got CoO because he was a sniper. Retty much every melee fighter in the New World has CoA. Devil Fruits aren't available for everyone and there's only one of each. So if you have Law's fruit, you pretty much win at everything. Haki is a measure of how strong you are. If you don't have haki, you're just not good enough. Having a fruit is completely different. You can train to better your Haki but you can't train to control gravity. You need that specific fruit.

Even in its own universe, despite the countless physical forces of nature fighting society, they still mostly believe in spiritual shit, god, luck, character... All the people hoping, praying, wishing for something to happen.
When a distinct character trait that came and fought for those ideals; it wasn't because "wishing hard enough" would win the battle, it's the series of actions and decisions that mindset leads to winning the battle.
That is how Luffy beat Don Krieg, Crocodile, Lucci, and countless other cunts; he punched the fucking spikes. He got up when he was practically killed. He went beyond his 110%.

Equating that to this new chakra "fairy dust" shit takes those necessary steps/ decisions for characters to illustrate themselves out. It's now just a matter of who trained the most offscreen. I don't find that bad-ass.
