Started watching UBW after watching the 2006 Fate/Stay Night.

It's great and don't tell F/a/tefags tell you any different. ufotable did a very tolerable job.

It's more like 40h. Once you've played Fate, you can skip like 3h of UBW at the beginning, same for Heaven's Feel.

By the way OP, yes UBW is a decent anime. Very good fights, OST and animation. But the characters themselves feel so void compared to the VN. The reveal and the relationship between Archer and Shirou isn't that great.

That's the operative word there. F/SN was bound to be shit compared to the VN when it comes to visual representations. Nasu's (shit) writing worked because the languorous expository sequences and dialogue was great for fleshing out each character, their motivations and the reasons for their actions. In UBW 2015, a lot of stuff is lost for the sake of maintaining pace, which is understandable, but still kind of sucks.

The other reason why UBW works better in the VN is that it had the Fate route preceding it, which developed certain characters a lot better. It develops Saber a lot more, which is absolutely necessary coming off of F/Z, and other characters like Sakura and Rider are cast aside in UBW and don't get ample representation until HF, and God knows when that's coming out.

UBW 2015 is definitely "tolerable", but anybody who prefers it over the VN is kidding themselves.

The VN did a much better job of making you believe that this autist was really training like fuck throughout UBW. In the anime, the plot armour was a lot more obvious.

The VN really isn't shit. It manages to tie up its conflicts fairly well for the most part, and most of the cast is well developed. I won't deny that there are flaws and outright asspulls though, especially towards the end of UBW.

Different route anon. Fate/Stay Night is a porn game, and UBW is the Rin route. 2006 is Fate with UBW spliced in the middle and random Heaven's Feel spoilers tacked into the end. 2014 UBW is essentially UBW route cut down to the bare minimum with all plot points intact. Its tolerable, the animation is good, the soundtrack is dope, but it doesn't really compare to the VN
