which gundam is the best gundam? and why is it wing?
Same here, nigga
Ear sex music, eye sex animation and good story
I'm thoroughly pleased with Unicorn
I meant I liked the design, My favorite Gundam show so far must be OG Gundam. Altho I've watched the movies, not the show itself, the third and last movie is probably one of my favorite mecha media.
tallgeese counts right? tallgeese was alot tighter than wing
also really thought the stardust memory third gundam design was really tight
Dendrobium_Stamen and the actual armor that came with it
otherwise the F91 was also pretty fucking sexy
Did anyone of you see the Thunderbolt PV? Thoughts?
Unicorn looks like veritable garbage.
Barbatos itself is really good looking, but the show is meh.
G-Self isn't even the best looking suit in its own show, and the best one has the retarded ass skirt.
If Op, meant specifically best "Gundam" Mobile Suits, then ignore me and my favorite is either Virtue (without the Raiser) or the RX-93
>tfw 00 has cgshit too so I won't even say it's my favorite show
>tallgeese counts right?
As a Gundam? Of coursh.
It's also love.
In wing I actually like Ephyon best.
Overall? I like 00's Exia, just cause of the ridiculous switchblade thing it has on it's arm.
Tallgeese III from EW is actually really cool looking.
>Barbatos itself is really good looking
I really like his design, it looks a lot more like a frame they just attached some armor on with all the mechanical bits showing here and there.
I just know they're gonna fuck up his design with the mid-season upgrade and simply turn it into another wing zero/strike freedom/00 qaant/etc.
To be fair, pre-upgrade Exia is sexy too.
>I really like his design, it looks a lot more like a frame they just attached some armor on with all the mechanical bits showing here and there.
It looks like Barbatos has a serious weak point on his lower torso though.
Unpopular opinion here. Fave gundam has to be the Destiny. Sure the pilot leaves a lot to be desired but the versatility of the MS appeals to me greatly for some reason.
I was glad it was portrayed in a better way in GBFT compared to its original universe.
I like ZZ Gundam. Some people think it's too bulky, but that just bitch ass twink mobile suit lovers.
>Virtue, 00 (without the Raiser) or RX-93
00 pre-Raiser is so fucking sex
> a frame they just attached some armor on
That's almost exactly the concept.
Leaked photo of Barbs with the upgrade. Weak spot's gone.
I thought Destiny itself was well liked, just not the show.
I know it's the cool thing to shit on 00, but one thing I will say is that in the first season I really enjoyed how each of the main 4 Gundam filled a particular role (Marksman, Brawler, etc.). One of the weaknesses of S2 for me was that Exia became over-powered and made the others feel rather redundant.
Turn A was absolutely fantastic. If we're talking Mobile Suits, Exia is up there. Not as big a fan of the 00/Raiser. Zeta, X and God are also cool.
I like ZZ but having the three separate parts, often with Roux or Beecha or whoever piloting, necessary to assemble it each time got tedious while watching. Especially when they were just left to their own devices after Judau docked. The time where they were left in the double beam rifle was a nice way to go against that but rarely again after that.
I feel like the three components was done better with Victory, especially with how Uso had no issue with using the individual parts as methods of attack.
Though the time where Judau partially separated it to get a hit in was ace. As a whole, the suit is nice and HUGE.
>I thought Destiny itself was well liked, just not the show.
Is it? I guess that's good then. I've always been under the impression that a lot of people hate the Destiny because they can't stop associating it with Shin. That and to most people, it will always be under the shadows of the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice.
There is only one answer. Nu
Well, Exia did show up, upgraded, at the finale.
I thought the 00 itself was adequately powered, but the Raiser was just fucking stupid, and it didn't even look good, to me. Now, 00 Seven Sword with that massive Buster Sword? Muh dick.
I would've liked the Raiser gimmick if it was like a nexus for the Meister's GN Drives something, like it needed all the Gundams present in "close" proximity or something to function, and then functioned like an even better Trans Am, but was wholly dependent on all 4 Gundams being operational and together.
I have a massive teamwork boner
Would've been cool trying to watch the A-Laws trying to break up a really tight formation.
As it was Raiser showed up just a tad too early anyway.
>under the shadows of the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice.
Pretty much, but I don't really ever hear anyone shit on it. The design is really nice, looks like a cleaner Strike Freedom,
which I also like
You can't blame him, 00 is like two Gundams in one.
>inferior Victory 2
Huh, I don't really see it senpai
If you said Wing was an inferior V1, I'd agree
Good answer. Hi-nu fags are fucking stupid
Nu has a vast variety in the battle field.
Like the swiss army knife of gundams.
>I don't see it
The Wings of the Light
The large rail gun that was a stable of the Victory line.
The energy shields.
All V2 doesn't have is the retarded Anti-Ship Swords because you don't need a retarded anti ship sword when you're armed to the teeth.
It's this one.
It completely missed the point of everything good about the nu
>liking shit anime because you were 10 when you saw it
EEEW what did they do to the Nu!?
>I bet she doesn't even want to be a Gundam
I rarely see it mentioned in threads like this, but I've always been a fan of how Dynames looks.
>doesn't smell like GN particles
I like Dynames a lot, it just has the crippling flaw of not being Exia or Virtue.
>posting a knock off version of my gundamfu
Taller than Kyrios.
Oops, my bad Kyrios is ever so slightly taller.
It's ok though because Nadleeh is a qt
>not Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Shit taste, all around.
>especially with how Uso had no issue with using the individual parts as methods of attack
And then he goes full force by just remotely controlling a fuckton of legs and arms at once and having them act as pseudo-funnels.
I liked the Virtue. The Seravee too. The Raphael though. What the fuck was going on with that design, holy shit.
>literally wearing the hulking Seravee II as a backpack/hat
The actual mobile suits, not the series you tard.
I like G-Gundam a lot precisely because it's cheesy as fuck, but that reason is why I don't like it's mobile suits, they're either way, way over the top, or retarded shit like that Holland gundam, pic related
Second Victory combines all the best parts of the Victory and the V2. Literally the best.
Are you retarded?
A majority of unicorns battles were traditionally animated, the only exceptions were the transformations due to the complex nature of the suit, the fuckhuge mobile armors like the neo zeong and at times the ships. otherwise Unicorn had great animation and when It was CG it wasn't jarring at all except for the neo zeong
>shoulder mounted beam cannon
6 6 6
These are really good too.
Where da grunt suits at?
The real hero of 8TH MS Team
That was a bazooka,no beams in Ibo because they're ineffective
Anyway best MS 1/2
Oh fuck I'm an idiot I didn't realise it said best Gundam.
Was fucking garbage, as was nearly all of AWotT.
Only decent thing to come out of it was the Braves, and possibly
Zabanya depending on how I feel
if they had place Unicorn after Victory's era and had it lead to some golden age of peace which takes place in late UC it would have at least acomplished something better than what 5 years of tranquility?
well real talk banana going full autistic "tell me that you need me audrey" after only knowing her for like a few hrs was just jarring
also the whole NO I REFUSE TO KILL mentality was really fucking annoying
Was referring to the Second V but the shoulder mounted bazooka on the Graze Kai was awesome to see, so I felt it necessary to add.
Anyways here's another one,it's a depiction of the Nu gundam by the designer of the Evangelions, and it will probably never be animated
i guess your right
i really liked the music and the animation was top notch for the most part. also that whole base attack with the old mobile suits vs the new ones was awesome.
if you watch during credits when they're all standing on the gundam it has armour on his arms. not sure yet but just watched the newest ep on Hulu and the teiwaz guy striped it band ius going to fix him up, I like to believe that's his armour after leaving the teiwaz
yeah which is why alot of people like it, the zeon base in space battle as well as the attack on the earth forces base were all filled with nostalgia suits and really nice fights
everything else however especially the whole transcending time and space final battle was really fucking weird as well as that special equipment on the unicorn( shit looked like that overstocked zoid with 50 missle pods)
Agreed. Iron Blooded Orphans has been real good so far. I' ve been happy with the story and characters. animation has been good. also been watching reconguista in G and I thought it was supposed to be newer but the animation is deplorable.
>animation is deplorable.
It's no worse than IBO, which is rife with QUALITY.
The fact that you use Hulu indicates how fucking new you are and you should stfu and watch more.
I prefer IBO solely for the suits, but Reco has a lot of fantastic animation (anyone got the webm with the beam saber catch?) outside of the character designs. I'm betting that's throwing you off.
IBO looks pretty shit, but at least the suits are sexy as hell.
This would start a 100+ flamewar on a certain other board.
>special equipment on the unicorn( shit looked like that overstocked zoid with 50 missle pods)
seems to happen a lot in gundam towards the end of a series
gundam 0083 had a stupid final form if i remember
yup but right now let's relax and look at robots
>Praising IBO's animation while calling G's animation trash
I never knew people hated the dendrobium,I always liked its whole "fuck it this is our last chance just strap on everything" aesthetic
>Gundam is fattest of group
>Pilot doesn't have a specfic gender and identifies as something complelely different
>Gundam sheds its fat to become super feminazi hair colored Gundam that turns perfectly good mobile suits into pawns for her gain
Yeesh, it really is Tumblr the Gundam.
Actually Virtue (005) was built around Nadleeh (004)
So it's actually /a/'s small group of enlargement fetishists.
Tieria is a dude you fucking queer.
Why do people dislike Zeta so much? I'll admit that it got extremely repetitive and a little boring halfway, but to be fair so did 0079.
just cuz I gots it. my bad for the poor picture quality bros.. gold finger tho. dual sabers. escape pod comes out. this is my fav toy ever. and one of my fav gundams
Wing Zero Custom is awesome. For some reason its now cool to hate on things we all loved when we saw it first years ago. Its ok to like things /a/.
I may have a slight bias though considering I am building a giant version of it though.
Because it was near memetic status for too long.
>Zeta is the best
>pfft, not as good as Zeta
>implying this holds a candle to Zeta
>just watch Zeta already
People would not shut the fuck up or stop singing the praises of Zeta, so it has a kneejerk reaction now.
AY! Check your privilege, shitlord! She is whomever she wants to be.
Most people do like Zeta though.
Maybe it's the poor photo quality but that looks pretty shit. The crotch looks really asymetrical.
still got the container... not the box lolz
little of both? bad quality on my tablet. but its designed like its out of a battle. so theatre are chips off here and there. the left side of the skirt is broken more than the right. Also might not have been at good angle. moved things a little for the pic cuz its a action figure so everything is movable
Its a God Gundam from the 'Battle Scarred' line. Basically a line of repaints with a few parts remolded to appear battle damaged and weathered. These were all over the shelves near the end of Gundams popularity in the US. I believe unpopular toys like this clogging stores was a large part of Gundams eventual decline in the states.
I didn't start with Hulu. I've just been watching shows on there this year. because I can find more anime there than I could with Netflix which was my movie app on Xbox, now its Hulu. I've been watching anime for a decade on the web but most sites I find these days suck. I've watched many gundam series before too and IMO Iron Blooded Orphans is the best I've seen in a while, that's cool if you don't agree. but you can stfu and keep that to yourself cuz I watch enough to know what I like. doesn't mean I won't watch reco either but I'm liking IBO more right now.. end rant
So how does /a/ feel about the Thrones?
Drei is shit, but Eins is pretty sweet because BFGs. Zwei is ok, "funnels" are annoying as fuck all though.
No, 00 is mai Gundamfu
Qan[T] gets a lot of shit on /m/ too.
I do like how it echoes Exia a lot, but the colors and face just don't do it for me. More red away from the waist would be really nice.
Of the main line, I think
00 Gundam > Exia > O Gundam > Astraea >>> 00 Qan[T] > shit > 00 Raiser.
Raiser would be a lot higher if it didn't have the dumbass jet cockpit thing hanging off the back.
Wing is the Ace undoubtly but few Gundam are as satisfying to see in battle as the HeavyArms. Such direct approach, such Termiantor-like brutality and even a small secret knife to take lives up close. Its fights are always a feast to the eyes.
I liked the red one. I think the evil gundams team was a fun idea and should be more common.
I like IBO better than Reco, but it's undeniable Tomino makes great fights. IBO looks okay and the fights aren't garbage but they're not visually interesting. The most fun parts have been with the CG ships to be honest.
Yeah, the choreography has been pretty nifty, the framing of the suits is really nice--not too close, not too far--but it looks like they forgot to draw half of the in-between frames.
After being burned some any times, I always let the series go on for a while before watching it.
The last two series I enjoyed were G-Reco and Build Fighters. I quit Build Fighters Try mid-way, AGE started off decentish, and went downhill. I enjoyed it, but I can see why people would hate it.
Gundam 00 S1 was great, but I wasn't fond of S2's direction at all, and the series had too many characters that it wasn't willing to let go of.
I still can't wrap my head around how GSD became so terrible. I don't know how you gather all this talent and create an amateur's product. The use of stock footage in this series is almost criminal.
I would have at least been satisfied somewhat if the last battle was any good.
It's all stock footage from older battles.
>I don't know how you gather all this talent and create an amateur's product.
Fukada's is the same type of director as Okada. The life blood of their writing style is FORCED DRAMA. Characterization takes a back seat to what will get the biggest reaction out of the audience or what will get the audience to pay the most money
God Gundam has always been my favorite, but it's strictly out of nostalgia.
Made this for /m/ but I'll post it here cause this has been a cozy thread and there seem to be a lot of 00bros
Cool shit, wonder if IBO will get more extended launch sequences
pic not related it's from MJP
Would be neat, there haven't really been any good ones. They sorta glossed over a launch entirely with Barbs's first sortie.
I was a bit upset. I made that webm of Red 5 too
The episode 7/8 (I forgot) launch was good but rushed/lazy. It feels like they just used the parts that gets reused a lot for episodes instead of the full animated launch sequence. What we got I liked though, especially the music, it sounded like the main battle theme from episodes 1-3 except more space-y instead of mars-y.
I also like that mika has a launch phrase now, I forget how he said it in japanese but it sounds cool.
I think that was episode 5 or 6 actually.
Unless yesterday's episode had one. I haven't watched it yet.
>season 2 of it.
Whole show was anime original, aside from the concept and setting, of course.
Wing is best 'cause it's a simple concept: buster rifle for ranged (with vulcan backup), beam saber for short range, and high mobility to help switch between ranges quickly.
All that said, I like Deathscythe more because muh stealth and muh "where did that that Gundam come fr- AAAAAGGHHH!" Oh, and muh scythe, which is based.
I've been waiting for a thread like this so I can talk about 00. Specifically, I don't understand the hate for A Wakening of the Trailblazer. I just binged the whole series and I thought the movie was a wonderful conclusion.
I felt like there was a lot of ramp-up needed for the series to really hit its stride (thing didn't really get interesting until the Thrones showed up). Season 2 was a thriller - the fight against the giant space laser WMD and the destruction of the orbital elevator were fucking HYPE episodes. Ribbons Almark was lame as could be, though. He was just the same old "guide humanity under my rule blah blah" generic villain as that douchebag from season 1 whom he ironically insulted for being just that.
But the movie blew me away. I loved it. It was definitely more tense than anything before - watching people get assimilated by the ELS was pretty raw. There were some serious Diebuster "humanity is fucked, it's all or nothing" vibes.
Yes, the show's (and especially the movie's) message about "understanding" felt pretty forced, and it probably could have been more subtly hinted at throughout the entirety of the series rather than preached nonstop as it neared its end, as if the writers only just figured out what kind of story they were trying to tell after the series was pretty much done.
But I think a completely foreign alien species was a cool way to get that point across in the end. I didn't think the whole "holy shit aliens" was a bad move. It was hinted at throughout both seasons if you were paying attention. I actually thought it was a pretty bold move for them to take it that far - from political/military sci-fi to this. It made Aeolia Schenberg's plan seem that much more grand. It felt like an optimistic take on Stanislaw Lem's "Solaris".
>No Mk II
Y'all are fucking up
Anon I liked it too, 00 is really silly and too many people take it serious. The giant space flower was silly but that's because the whole show was silly. Also the final boss is Jupiter, fucking Jupiter, the only villain who could surpass fucking Ribbons. (he has Amuro's VA if you didn't notice) Overall it's one of the best AU's, really worth watching IMO.
Oh and I really liked Trailblazer because it was a gundam take on the assimilation/becoming-one villain that's popular in a lot of anime like Eva, Fafner, etc.. 00 did a lot of fun shit like that I really enjoyed it.
>I didn't think the whole "holy shit aliens" was a bad move
Neither do I.
I mean the whole Plan was a straight riff on Psychohistory, but the problem with comparing it to Solaris is that it had too many characters distracting from the core story, whereas Solaris is incredibly personal. If they had spent more time on the aliens and CB's interaction with them it probably would've been lot better. The ayy lmaos were foreshadowed, yes, but they never felt threatening because you just knew that Setsuna was gonna win. The tension could've been a lot better if they hadn't crammed the bulk of the MS action into the latter half of the show. Ultimately, it's a story that doesn't do anything creative (at least outside of Gundam) and there's many shows that did what it did better. Now that isn't to say you can't have a show that rehashes things be done well, but AWotT fails to blaze any sort of trail or use play up the
tropesto their potential.
Also the way S2 ends with them riding off into the sunset is tops.
Since you mention those, AwotT feels like an entire season of one of those shows crammed into a 2 hour movie.
Basically my problem with AwotT is that it just fell short of everything it could've been. It wouldn't have taken much to trim the fat.
Also that fucking terrible Maximum Overdrive sequence with Mari and Al.
Also Qan[T] was ugly.
If anyone hasn't seen Maximum Overdrive, I highly recommend it as it's remarkably therapeutic in the sense that no matter how badly you fuck up, it won't be as bad as it.
I did like Graham's charge though.
>too many characters distracting from the core story
Can't argue that. I just liked what they were going after, which is usually what I take away from any series. I'm very forgiving. It ended on a solid note IMO but I honestly think a good number of whole episodes could have been cut. Pacing and character bloat was definitely a glaring issue that I had to slog through.
>I just liked what they were going after
But the way they sought it was contrived and weak.
I mean a glaring issue that requires slogging should never be an issue in a "good" show. I too thought AWotT was ok and cool after I watched it, but a month later I despised it for how poorly it was executed.
At least in 00 S2 CB and Setsuna actually suffer some setbacks even when they go all out, like the Raiser sword not stopping the MM 2. Qan[T] just breezed through and spammed its funnel crap, which is exceedingly boring and stopped being cool in CCA.
The hi-nu is garbage and doesn't hold a candle to the asymmetrical magnificence of nu
It's like they reinvented the wheel, but forgot what made the wheel so good in the first place
