I glanced through the catalog a few times and didn't see a OPM thread that wasn't about shit posting, so lets try that.
What did you think about today's episode?
Do you think if there's a season 2 that it would pass the actual main manga and reach ONE plot? Do you think the animation would suffer in such a situation (without more direction from the manga).
The start of the episode with the Genos vs. Sea King fight was sketchy as heck. I can't tell if it's stylistic or if they'll scrap it and redo it in the BD.
In other news, Genos' role is to lose just about every fight he's in as the Damsel in Distress for Saitama to rescue, right? Despite that he's an S-ranked hero?
>In other news, Genos' role is to lose just about every fight he's in as the Damsel in Distress for Saitama to rescue, right? Despite that he's an S-ranked hero?
In any other series, he'd be the protagonist. Of course he's going to job.
Sales have apparently been good so far, from both volume sales and BD preorders.
Is that how it will have to be until the end?
Using ONE to scare away the more rabid shitposters so we can have a decent thread.
A shame, the anime is way better than I believed it could be.
Will the anime make it to the point of showing Genos crying? He's supposed to cry tears of oil canonically.
The other S-Ranked heroes got absolutely devastated. The whole plot point so far is that nobody is recognizing that Saitama far outmatches anyone.
It pretty much demonstrates this when they have their spar and the blowback from Saitama's punch leaves a blast zone behind Genos.
>He wasn't show to be effective even once
He rebuilt A-City, which was shown to be the size of a country, in a week. Also for all we know he could have been building a super robot that has studied all of the monsters the heroes have fought, like a robot that is constantly adapting
> Got to wait till the end of episode 12 to see his handsome face again
This is going to be tough. Hopefully Madhouse don't mess up his scene.
You can't be serious.
Tatsumaki MAYBE, no chance in hell for the other two.
When will the Metal Bat circle jerking stop?
I was indifferent towards him while reading the manga/webcomic but /a/ has made me hate him.
Even the Fubuki/Tatsumaki waifufag shitposters aren't as bad.
He has a limitless power-up, just like Saitama and Garou. The only problem is it's an in-battle move so he has to use up action points to activate it. Garou has it as a passive, Saitama glitched and ran it infinitely.
>ever being in the top 10
Love OPM, but this series promotes power levelfags. Everyone knows that power levelfags are the single worse cancer to manga series or any series for that matter.
I'm such a sucker for JUSTICE stories. I gotta watch more good hero stuff, this is so much fun.
Your options are ignoring or filtering, whining is irritating for everyone. Don't be gay.
>yfw Watchdog-Man is actually a competent S-class and rivals Saitama in combat, yet he's even more lazy to fight
This series makes powerlevelfags salty because you can argue a Saitama victory against pretty much 99% of fictional characters.
OPM is still comedy, powerlevelfags are just a running joke.
She's going to have nightmares.
You talking about Ikemen Kamen Amai Mask?
Pri-Pri Prisoner doesn't deserve to be sad, his smile is for protecting.
The whole point of Genos' character is to show how strong Saitama is.
Genos demonstrates how strong he is and lands a position in the top tier of the hero association. Then he gives the enemy a good run for their money, but ultimately loses. This shows just how strong the enemy is. Then Saitama shows up and defeats the enemy effortlessly.
Without the other heroes in the story, you couldn't really gauge the strength of the enemies Saitama is defeating since he defeats them all so easily.
>In any other series, he'd be the protagonist. Of course he's going to job.
Now I know what you mean, but frankly, I'm pretty sure Genos IS the protagonist.
I mean seriously. Saitama doesn't even have a goal. The closest he has to a goal, is to become S Rank 1, but even that isn't his goal, it's just what everybody expects him to accomplish.
Genos on the other hand is actually aiming to become better. He's looking for the android that is responsible for destroying his home. He wants to learn his master's philosophy to become better.
He meets every criteria to be the protagonist except for screentime, and that too he only loses because there are some other charactes with their own arcs to develop.
Saitama is just the pivot holding the story together.
That's not to say that Saitama is without value as a character, but if we want to deconstruct this on the traditional protagonists/supports/antagonists system, then I think it's unfair to claim that Saitama is the protagonist of the series.
He's more like the Starship Enterprise and everyone else is the crew.
Bad analogy but closest I can think of at the moment.
He still didn't really make a huge difference.
That fight was all Metal Bat, Atomic Samurai and Silverfang.
Still good to see characters actually learning from their mistakes and getting stronger for non-DBZ reasons.
Nah her fanmail is probably somewhere in here
I can see that. Obviously Saitama's an imposing figure and can't ever be cut out, but especially wrt the later parts of the comic, the "stories" are more about the characters that orbit him rather than he himself.
I get what you're saying, but I feel like Saitama does have a purpose, which is to find meaning in what he does.
I mean, he's constantly giving these heroic speeches like in the police station, but I feel like he's still going to find purpose in life besides wrecking shit like it's his obligation.
>The start of the episode with the Genos vs. Sea King fight was sketchy as heck. I can't tell if it's stylistic or if they'll scrap it and redo it in the BD.
That's how the episode's animation supervisor likes his drawings.
I realize that saying that his purpose is to find a purpose is a bit confusing, but I mean his purpose in the STORY is to find a purpose in life.
This impression is actually one of the things that drew me to the story because I feel this everyday. I feel like I've been losing meaning and enthusiasm as time goes on.
How does something with such bad art get serialized?
>god level thread
there won't be one of these ever again
Jesus Christ, how horrifying.
Sweet Mask becoming a Saitama fanboy is so fucking great.
That is true, but everything about his arc is very lowkey.
It's almost like it had 3 seperate layers of narrative.
Most series have 2 layers of narrative.
-An overall arc that begins and ends the main story.
-And many short volume/season long stories that function as chapters.
I think what we have here, is more like:
-Saitama's story, which is the longest running, drawn out arc.
-Multiple still long stories that overlap to some degree but tell a relatively more compact character story (Genos' story) which get more of a direct focus instead of just disjointed hints (that are mainly in the Extras of the manga, instead of the main narrative).
-And finally the small arcs like the Sea King, Boros, etc that serve to introduce new mid-level arcs by bringing out new characters, etc.
Then again, it's much too early in the story's development to dissect it on that level.
That's pretty neat looking, although the T-800 pulled off that look better.
Also see something neat in this?
Nah, zombieman is nigh-unkillable while sweet mask has a lot of other stuff going for him. Remember, in the time it took sweet mask to (partially) remake his face, zombieman grew back most of his body
>Even sweet mask
don't talk shit about sweet mask you shit faced brat
Don't be sad anon, just be happy she even showed up at all
That makes sense.
It could be that ONE doesn't want to develop Saitama too seriously for now in order to keep the humor going.
Maybe we'll get a more introspective view on Saitama once he's fighting God-level threats and above.
I was kind of hoping they would introduce her earlier like they did Tats. They could have put her between sea king and Boros in order to let the pacing relax a bit. Three episodes for one fight is a bit much IMO.
It's okay anon, it gives lots of screentime to best girl Tatsumaki.
Murata get on with the MA arc already god dammit
I want this so bad.
>when will the battle breefing be over
what did he mean by this
Not on a Berserk level of artwork, but this shit right here is pretty damn impressive.
>Not on a Berserk level of artwork
Anon, they have entirely different styles, comparing them is idiotic. Neither one is objectively better.
>Also for all we know he could have been building a super robot that has studied all of the monsters the heroes have fought, like a robot that is constantly adapting
sweet mask is such a bad motherfucker
I've been generally unimpressed with the art from this show outside of select few stills, but this episode had some good stuff, like terrified bystanders, fucked up Genos, and so on.
Game over, man. Game over.
I don't know why you faggots want Saitama to beat Sweet Mask up so much. You realize nothing will change right? Saitama obviously won't go for the kill and Sweet Mask will heal just like in the Garou beatdown and he'll continue living his life the way he has.
>Nah her fanmail is probably somewhere in here
Interesting that the anime went for the drone delivery rather than the air drop package in the manga. It does make more sense in the modem world that way.
adore this design, crazy excited to see him in action
Yeah, although it would be funny if Saitama uglied him up something fierce permanently, or for some time.
Or if he acted like a vengeful little bitch because he got one scar, and swore revenge, only to never succeed, just like Sonic never will.
It will be glorious too; Sweet Mask is the spotlight of the HA, and Saitama overtaking him will cause a shitstorm of some sort. He'll definitely get major recognition one way or another.
I kind of wish they would make some spin off one shots of some of the bigger, badder enemies like boros, garou, seaking. Just something to show how boros managed to recruit these badass generals that are implied to have been alive for hundreds of years and have ravaged and plundered the galaxy.
I'm going full detective on tatsumaki if she is going to be drawn like a shit on the anime like saitama
He would probably fight in a battle no one else but he could win, but at the expense of being remembered. A hero forgotten by time itself, a destiny doomed to pass without the dignity of a whimper. Saitama would be the only one to ask "Where did he go?"
the thing is the public views class ranking as power levels
so imagine if there was a robbery and all the cops got killed then a little kid walks in and kills the robbers
you'd think the cops fucked up and the robbers weren't that dangerous
There will always be a shitter among the crowd. ALWAYS.
and it´s ok, that`s life you just gotta learn to accept it. I`m OK with just Rider having noticed how Saitama is actually a true hero.
Saitama doesn´t need the bells and whistles of being a hero, even though he seems to express he does, he is cool as long as he gets to help people and do the right thing.
Rider is exactly like Saitama except without the power.
>Genos BTFO sea king before sacrificing himself
>The shockwave clears the sky and blows away the rain
>That smile after Licenseless tells him about the letter
Top notch episode, they probably held back on the last one to make sure this ended up good
A character looking to become better doesn't make him the MC. Not to mention Saitama himself also changes, like this episode showed where he realized that it's not worth to be recognized by the public who are such shitty people.
well I guess I'm a heartless faggot then.
Honestly I'm surprised how good the characters are written and the quality of the writing in general beyond a simple gag manga. Some of the best examples are PriPriPrisoner, Darkshine, and Saitama himself.
PriPriPrisoner somehow made a homosexual rapist sympathetic and endearing.
>I don't have anything worth defending
Fuck that hit harder than I thought it would.
Not the next one. The organization has been foreshadowed longer. That one maybe comes after. But there'll be some unimportant bad guys first.
The robots at the city are pretty powerful apparently. If he can produce that so quickly, he'd be god-level very easily just by numbers.
I'm still bummed that all of the stuff with Pri Pri Prisoner prior to his fight against Deep Sea King got cut out of the anime, but I guess it would've taken up a lot of time for a side character considering that they have a limited number of episodes to work with, and the Boros arc really does deserve a lot of time.
This shit actually made me start choking up. Got some Infamous 2 Zeke flashbacks.
NEET literally did nothing wrong. There is no point in heroes if they can't protect anyone.
It'd be more valid if there was another option, but the options are fund the hero association or die.
Besides, the heroes did win after all. He only had a leg to stand on because Saitama is C class, and used that as a "the ranking mean nothing if they can't do anything". This isn't a valid argument when taking into account that Saitama is the most powerful being alive, but very few people know that.
Why didn't the Sea King let the rain power himself back up before going back to fight Genos?
that doesn´t mean he isn´t a shitter anon. when one is trying to ruin the fun for other people that´s what being a shitter is.
of course with the setting as it is, its predictable, so thats why all the other characters are what makes the series so entertaining, and Saitama´s attitude as well.
Are you confusing him with Tatsumaki?
It's true though
>my interpretation is the one true interpretation
post ONE quote supporting or shut up
>liking atomic samurai
u fucked up
Hey, all this discussion about god treats and shit, you guys know this from the original webcomic or is there another afaptation I'm missing? The manga I'm reading is at the part with metal bat and centipede, haven't touched the original
One implied that Metal Bat being present at the MA fight would have drastically put the entire fight into the HA favour, I think even without Saitama.
Remember S class is not truly ordered by power.
>series isn't about BLANK
>it's actually about BLANK
You still got to appreciate the effort Genos is putting into trying to protect it regardless.
That time he called the professor because he saw his sensei with a wig was so fucking precious.
I find it disappointing that that bearded guy from the Heroes Association never did learn Saitama's true strength. Then again, that would even make even Shichhi know about it and may hold a private meeting as to what to do with Saitama.
Mumen Rider gets the bro of the year award.
Also, he has the best theme OTY. Truth.
I'm such a sucker for scenes like the one we got with the kid cheering on Mumen Rider.
>When civilization is in shattered ruins
Civilization can't be in ruins, civilization is just civilization
other than that I'll just warn you that overloading on /pol/ memes can be really dangerous for your mental health
just learn to leave this shit in the containment board that it belongs
Alright I have a theory /a/, and its a bit far fetched, so hear me out. What if Saitama is the actually the S-class hero, Blast? Blast hasn't appeared yet, and apparently is usually absent as of late.
Say for example, Blast for some reason needed to erase his memories or had them forcabely erased by something. Then his head was shaved so no one would recognize him, and a false memory of his past was given to him.
This would not only explain his strange attitude towards hero work, but also his inability to explain the source of his power or give a reason for his motivation beyond "for fun". It is possible he purposefully erased his memory to remove corruption from the hero organization by working up through it and forcing the evil ones to challenge him, or to take the fall as a "villian" so the heroes would have someone to rally against in unity.
Opinions or thoughts?
what if sweet mask is the rogue cyborg Genos is after. He seems pretty crazy and that time where his arm was cut off he just put it back on making it seem like he wasn't a normal human(not that he was normal to begin with).
Damn. That's some firepower, Genos.
How would the fight have gone if the girl didn't encourage him?
>That's some firepower, Genos.
And he lost.
Still would have lost.
If giving him the benfit of the doubt then he would've stalled Sea Kun long enough for Sonic to help double team.
>Genos on the other hand is actually aiming to become better. He's looking for the android that is responsible for destroying his home. He wants to learn his master's philosophy to become better. He meets every criteria to be the protagonist except for screentime, and that too he only loses because there are some other charactes with their own arcs to develop.
>and it´s ok, that`s life you just gotta learn to accept it. I`m OK with just Rider having noticed how Saitama is actually a true hero.
Saitama shouldn't be the hero the people will come to respect, he will be the hero that other heroes will count on. Which is why Genos and Saitama go hand-to-hand. They are each others foils in a multi-layered world. Think of the blue curtain in law enforcement: citizens view cops as a general mass while the inner workings of law enforcement see things in a very different perspective. Crime happens; citizens count on cops to clear up the issues while cops will have to do what the duty calls for which may either earn the approval or ire of what citizens would deem unjustifiable. Genos is troped any other shounen protagonist and he does what any typical MC would do in their own story. However, in OPM he's the deutagonist and will fail because that's how large the scale is in the OPM world; moreover is the reason why Saitama is the MC. In the world of S class heroes, deemed the 'main cast' according to common OPM citizens, Saitama is the second layer of the onion since he's stronger than the S-class cast that we question who or what else will be introduced later in this story. Genos is vital because we have him as the observer and a comparison to Saitama, the Shinpachi to Gintoki (this is also why he's ranked in the middle of the S class, in power level). That's what makes him so interesting; he's so strong that it broadens the range of where the plot can go.
inb4 genos plz
>implying a /pol/ can't enjoy /a/
I wonder when everyone else will find out about the real King and how he isn't the hero everyone sees him as?
>he doesn't know
Here, take a look at their review of Fate/Stay Night.
>Rather than being about heroic ideals in broad, Shirou's story is about a “beta male” confronting various toxic images of idealized “alpha masculinity” (Archer, Gilgamesh, and Kirei) and rejecting them to become comfortable with himself as he truly is. I will explain these terms in more detail to fully clarify what I mean, and I do understand why people are attached to this story, but it's honestly not a comprehensive examination of idealism versus reality. It's certainly trying to be and easily could have been, but the story's baggage over gender is too heavy for me to read
>What if Saitama is the actually the S-class hero, Blast
oh this again
>Blast for some reason needed to erase his memories or had them forcabely erased by something. Then his head was shaved so no one would recognize him, and a false memory of his past was given to him.
wut, ur dumb
There's a better way to approach the "Blast is Saitama" theory.
Blast never showed up to meetings because he's actually just a placeholder. "Blast" is what the founder of the Association put to hold the place of whoever the hero was that saved his...nephew? Grandkid? I forget exactly what the relation was. So they tell the other heroes and the public stuff about him, but nobody's ever seen him because he's not a real guy.
I don't think so, he really could've just dashed with them in his arms.
I mean, shit, he did get full marks in the exam.
I'd understand Mumen Rider sacrificing himself, but Genos could do better.
>having a literal furry as an S class hero.
I somehow doubt Saitama could let an admitted destroyer of civilized worlds live. He gave Boros the best possible end; a fight where he could give it his all. He literally died fulfilled, while the encounter further put into perspective how empty Saitama's power leaves him feeling.
If those C, B, and A class heroes hadn't stepped in to delay the baddie until OPM arrived, the NEET and all those people at the shelter would have died. There's more to saving the day than just winning, sometimes you have to run delaying tactics.
No, it's more like to him, beauty IS power.
and who has more power than anyone?
in other words, he would basically cream his pants for saitama once he understood how strong he really was. To him, Saitama would be the most beautiful thing in the world.
>replying to obvious b8
I remember reading way back when OPM threads were less cancerous that
Handsome Mask was the grandkid of the Hero Association founder and the kid Saitama saved. The theory becomes more hefty when you consider that the kid would become so obsessed with heroes after what Saitama did that he would use his grandfather's wealth and influence to become stronger, more handsome which removed his ballsack chin and become what Handsome Mask is today. Except became so full of himself that he has become a hedonist who forgot what a hero should be.
Triggered much? I mean't by being drawn poorly like saitama.
>yfw animeonlyfags don't realize King's true power
I think Genos just did a piccolo because thats the sort of person he is. Thoughtful, heroic but not the brightest guy. He no doubt did the first thing that popped into his head which was probably "prevent loli being hit with acid -> intercept projectile"
Too risky, if he had missed ANY of it, dead loli.
Had Genos not lost an arm at the start he might have had a chance.
With one arm he was fucked. He has great AOE, but his power is too low. He could barely push back the sea king in his normal mode and sea king's regeneration negated all the damage he did. He was only good for stalling.
Guys, I have a theory.
What if Red Nose is BLAST? We haven't actually seen him fight and he seems to have really noble intentions, like trying to stop that guy from committing suicide and assuring those C-Class guys that they're safe with him.
Mumen Rider is the only one who could win because he's the one who is able to fight him on a different level. Arguments of the soul, of will, and sacrifice.
Not that Saitama doesn't understand, he just can't compare.
>been feeling depressed lately because feel lack of purpose in everything I do
>feel like I'm treating my future mech engy degree like an obligation, something I don't really want to do but don't know where else to go
>watch this episode filled with JUSTICE and purpose and reasons to live
This shit brought me to tears.
Why live if I'm never gonna be a shitty, but passionate, hero?
But his entire mechanical parts have no hint of working that way and the muscles only appear in few places also the bones did not look metalic (well at least on my screen in the middle of the night).
Guys, I have a theory.
What if Charenko is BLAST? We haven't actually seen him fight for real and he seems to have intentions, like trying to be the strongest disciple and wanting to take down Garou.
>tfw Boros and Saitama will never get a good fight
>tfw my theory of Blast being a relative of Bang and Bomb isn't popular
