Episode 10
Screenplay: Shou Aikawa
Storyboard and director: Osamu Kamei
Animation Director: Yoshiyuki Kodaira
Mecha Animation Director: Studio Z and Chiharu Sota.
Something about a radical superhero group called Inferno Queen dispensing EXTREME JUSTICE punisher-style. They seem to be American Supers. It might have something to do with Jaguar-san?

It's from the official website, so they probably got some complaints about the confusing timeline
Details for the ticket event have now been made available.
The Special Event will be held April 16th at the Kanagawa Prefecture Great Hall.
The following cast members will be there.
Kaito Ishikawa (Jirou), Sumire Uesaka (Kikko), Eriko Nakamura (Fuurouta), ZAQ (opening song performance), YĆsuke Yamamoto (ending theme performance), Makoto Kawamoto (insert song), Ishida Shokichi, and more.

English Synopsis for Episode 9.
>#09 Beyond the Endless Family
>Housewife Sanae Hatakeyama and her family of six live in the antique shop "Mori-no-ya." Her husband Minoru was the first Japanese prisoner when war broke out with the U.S., and close to 30 years had passed without his return. The seemingly ordinary Hatakeyama family had survived a great disaster that occurred at a nearby chemical plant, and had also been witnessed several times over the years with the exact same family members. Therefore, there were suspicions that they were immortal superhumans. After the Superhuman Bureau gets curious about the family, Fuurouta and the others start on a secret investigation. But then, Sanae receives word that Minoru is returning.

It's ranking quite poorly, actually. But if it was going to be split cour, that shouldn't change even if sales end up badly.
Holy fucking Hell. This episode is definitely NOT filler.

>This episode
>Shinka 16, December (1941)
Hatakeyama enlists in the Japanese Army to avoid having his family registered. He works as a submarine scout commander, but gets captured by U.S. forces, and is then experimented upon once they find out that he's immortal and can regenerate from any wounds.
>Shinka 42, October (1967)
An explosion occurs at an Ether factory. Miraculously, a family of six people closest to the factory survive. They attract the attention of the Superhuman Bureau.
>Shinka 44, September (1969)
The Superhuman Bureau is monitoring the Hateyama-family, who are still waiting for the male to finally return from US captivity. Jirou at this point has already left the bureau. The new leader of the Bureau seems to be Jirou's foster father, having replaced Daishi Akita. The US sends Stunticons to kill the Hateyama, because they don't want to let anybody else have the secret of immortality.
>>134122991
Was it the anachronistic storyline which is a risky move? Or is it retro superheros a niche within a niche?
>>134123532
It's simply too serious and an original anime without a horde of fans.
Not enough naked girls, not enough cute guys, not enough plastic robots, etc... It's lacking most of the stuff that sells nowadays.
>>134123532
The primary reason is the fact that volume 1 sells with only one episode.
And yes, retro superhero with a heavy emphasis on nostalgia and alternate history is very niche already. This furthermore being an original show means that the fanbase for it is small.
But its fanbase does like it very much.
Subs are out
He actually has two eyes.
Time criminals
This episode was fucking fun, despite being fucking gruesome.
We still don't know why he left the Bureau, but it seems it was just a bit before the events in this episode

>>134123612
>volume 1 sells with only one episode
It's also discounted, so if anything, that should make it sell more. I remember plenty of shows doing that (Nana way back in the day, Anohana, Love Live and so on).
>>134124125
Everything save for the art style.
Slogged through 7 eps of this crap and I still don't care about the boring Chuuni protag and his equally boring chuuni as fuck org and the reason they're dicking over heroes and whatnot.
Nor do I find the half-assed time skip rashomon bullshit in any way compelling because it's just a tedious waiting game to see when Chuuni McProtag has his breaking point where he decides to ditch the organization and awakens his fap arm, what he does next, and the motive for the organization being dicks.

30 bucks for one episode on one disc? Just having to switch the disc if I were in the mood to watch some further episodes would be already a hassle.
If I were a typical otaku who was going to shell out lots of nippon-dollars for those overpriced BDs, might as well want 2 or even 3 episodes on the first BD for 70-80 bucks.
But if BandaiVisual believes that this is the right selling strategy, then so be it. They've been long enough in that business to know what they're doing, I guess.

Quick, everyone. To the TV.
Was the family humans from the start, or did they evolve together with other life forms?
Can they breed? Would their offspring also be immortal? If not, are their descendants the origin of superheroes?

It's not like Bandai Visual needs any extra sources of revenue right now and can more than take any sort of hit. 8-Bit is going to be leeching off of suckers from the Key fanbase in a few seasons anyway along with Aniplex so they'll be okay too.
>>134126155

Sanae and Minoru are wife and husband. It's probably an Adam and Eve thing.

Even that would get old pretty fast. 100 years tops.
>>134126243
Are they really a biological family? They don't grow older and looks like they can not have childern.
What was this about?
I gotta say, the voice acting for the american soldier sounded quite passable.
>>134126566
My guess is, it's foreshadowing for the next episode. We'll probably find out if Jaguar-san has a wife or girlfriend next episode.
>>134126566
They are in a post office, they are expected to leave after finish writing their mail. He starts a letter but doesn't carry on with it so he can stay in the building.
>>134126536
It's probably as >>134126461 said. They came into existence the way they are, to represent the ideal of the archetypical family.
>>134126619
Didn't sound American though. That accent came from England.
>>134126566
Wasn't he just faking writing a letter to be allowed to remain in the post office to spy on the family?

>>134126943
OH Kikko how lewd.
>>134126943
>farther
>>134126943
She's getting desperate.
Well it looks like Jiro left during the mess where the alien chief came to light, so I guess he found out about all the conspiracies and stuff. It looks like he didn't go all rogue at the start, and just stopped working for the bureu and is a hobo now.
>>134126786
It's just a parody of Sazae-san
I guess Minoru chose to become captured by the US voluntarily.
Better to get shot and having a vivisection performed upon than killing other people.
I can respect that.
>>134123532
Well the problem is we are about to be 10 episodes in and the story is entirely build up. The episode we see why Jirou leaves and what comes after will really make or break the show. Might be too late for good sales at this point though.
>another anime I enjoy that wont get a single doujin

>>134126943
Who cares ? Jiro is only interested in Rainbow Knight
>>134127986
>Jiro is only interested in justice

>>134127575
They might be immortal but that doesn't mean they have superhuman strength or reflexes or anything like that? He was probably just too slow.
>>134128047
>ftfy
But anon he never gave up on Rainbow Knight
>>134128122
Yeah, sure. I didn't imply that he dodged the bullets. He probably got hit by all of them. Several times. Over and over again.
Just that he probably crashed his sub on purpose to get captured so that he wouldn't be fighting in the war.
>>134126821

>>134127632
This basically, all we are doing now is waiting to get to the Jiro defects episode to then have a future episode where Jiro does his revolution and we end before anything happens.
>>134128507
What we do know now through this episode is that all the supers registered by the Bureau must comply in experiments that the Japanese government might demand of them (together with the US).
This episode was sponsored by ant man.
Got involuntary shivers seeing ants being used like this.

>Kikko loves Jiro
>Jiro dating Emi
>Emi mad that there's this homewrecker around
>Ghost kinda wants Kikko
>Jiro cares about Kikko so little he just casually looks at her in only a towel with no reaction
Is this correct?

The only real pity is that we didn't get to see them gestalt-combine.
Nice episode and looks like the gang isnt that angry with jiro either.
>>134131327
Next episode more than likely takes place before the current one. They skipped from 43 to late 44. That needs an explanation.
>>134131406
With Time Patrol shenanigans and a focus on Hyouma Yoshimura (Jaguar-san), there's bound to be something time-related.
>>134131327
I'm guessing this is weeks after Jiro betrayed the bureau.
Months later he starts assembling his own gang and gets more confrontational
>>134131406
Even with the timeline posted I'm still a bit confused, next episode will be a whole new mindfuck.

Updated the timeline pastebin. http://pastebin.com/YYKqFYg8
So it seems Jirou left Superhuman Bureau before September, Shinka 44 (this episode). They're still on rather amicable terms considering they just talk to each other, as if Jirou merely changed companies. Two things of note are Jaguar saying "Will you get in our way again?" and Emi saying "Jirou, I'm not mad at you". This proves that there already has been a prior incidence and that Emi is Jirou's loyal waifu, despite what he may have done.
Either way they went from amicable terms to more hostile terms because we later see Kikko/Furouta actively chasing Jirou. That's in April, Shinka 46. There's a 1.5 year gap there so something must have happened to cause the shift in their relationship.
>>134135465
And the oldman wasn't there.
>>134135642
Yeah, Jiro's dad (?)(the scientist guy voiced by Miki Shinichiro I think) said something like "After what happened with Chief Akita...". I'm guessing that his leaving/whatever he does is related to Jiro leaving.
>>134135465
It's probably related to Jirou getting the scarf outfit along with control over his arm. Outfit changes seem important in this show so I think some deep shit is going to hit the fan that'll result in the different outfit.
>>134136072
His suit was pretty messed up in this episode
>>134135769
I think the old man was the one to betray superheroes first with one of his odd plans.
Jirou either decided to protect him when everyone was against him or went against him when everyone did nothing.
Maybe whatever happened has something to do with Rainbow Knight mask he stole, that would definitely trigger Jirou.
>>134136232

I am kind of irritated how friendly Jiro is to the Bureau. They not only betrayed him and lied to him for all of his life, but they are also the prime enemies of justice. He shouldn't be so buddy-buddy with them.
>>134137462

I fucking cracked in laugh with that scene. Why is he so shit?
>>134123355
Holy fuck this is actually true.
o why were the Americans so dead set on killing this family?
>>134140175
They couldn't crack the secret of immortality from the body of Minoru Hatakeyama, so they wanted to make sure that nobody else could get it from his body or that of his equally immortal family, and sent a Transformer-Terminator after them to make sure that absolutely nothing whatsoever would remain of them that could be analyzed by other organizations.
>>134137462
This episode happens very soon after he betrayed/was betrayed by the bureau, so they're both trying to convince eachother.
>>134140291
>Japanese group suicide defeats evil American war machine
>>134140398
Yeah... no.
>>134140984
They explained he could do that several episodes ago already.
>>134136232
He is homeless since he doesn't work anymore, I want an ep about Hobo Jiro.
>>134140984
>jaguar
>turns into a cheetah
>>134141029
I know but that doesn't change the fact that it looks fucking shit.
So how does the robot hold the fluid, capable of destroying all matter, before it pours it out? And what kind of clean up does this incur for the neighbourhood?
>>134141073
>website called him a leopard
>>134141042
Hobo Jiro eating cheap cup ramen he got as thanks for doing something.
>>134141073
Looks more like a Leopard to me.
>>134141073
All I can think of with that goofy body
>>134141127
Probably water since when it poured it into the river the ground didn't melt.
>>134141127
The self-destruction fluid perhaps only becomes corrosive once it enters in contact with air.
>>134141153
I want a pic with Jiro's new gang of superhumans sitting around in a cardboard box community under a bridge.
>>134141210
>mfw Cheetor was fighting Optimus Prime on this episode
>>134141153
That act of kindness revives Jiro's love for justice, and makes him start his revolution.
>>134140984
What are his powers? He can
>control time
and now turn into unknown number of animals?
>>134141127
Possibly keeps it as separate less corrosive fluids and then mixes them when it needs it.
>>134141316
He can also become a gigantic faggot. No wait, he was always like that.
>>134141166
Cheetah tails have stripes towards the tip, while leopards do not. But then both cats tend to have whiter tail ends, and nobody ever bothers with details like that.
>>134141361
I like you.
>>134141316
He's had the cat form thing for a while. His watch can control time and he himself is the cat person. His origin is currently unknown. Next episode looks like he will have a larger focus.
>>134141166
Look at the tail.
>>134141316
>control time
He can't. The clock thing can stop it and probably allows you to travel through anyone with the clock can use it so I don't consider that a super power.
>>134123612
>The primary reason is the fact that volume 1 sells with only one episode.
This is a standard for most anime, Owarimonogatari only comes with one episode for the first volume.
>nico
You do realize that the ratings are meaningless because its just the people who stuck around after most everyone dropped it right?
>>134141449
Owarimonogatari's first episode was double length
>>134125064
>30 bucks for a single episode
Sometimes I wonder how this industry is still even alive.
>>134141316
He's apparently a super genius or something and invented a bunch of the Bureau's gadgets.
>>134141490
>>134141449
That shit has a huge fanbase that will buy literally anything you throw at them though.
>>134141431
Right, its the watch itself. He straining himself to use it looks dangerous.
>>134141402
I guess he is some kind of a rogue time cop. Been waiting for his backstory too all this while.
>>134141430
Also the claws, cheetahs have non-retractable claws like dogs.
It's unnerving how cynical and ruthlessly cruel this anime can be while simultaneously being cartoony and stylish.
>>134141636
Yeah next episode will cover that and hopefully the moment where Jirou leaves the Bureau.
>>134141707
I love it
>yfw you realize this is the anime version of Civil War
>mfw Jirou is Cap and Jaguar is Tony
>mfw Jirou will die at the end
kaijus did nothing wrong
>>134141768
But will the thing inside him live on?
>>134123852
That's a fake Jirou
>>134141431
Just like using gigazord or mech body... oh wait, they ARE considered superpowers in the show.
Just like diamond stealer was considered bad superhuman only because of her ancient tech rifle.
>>134141935
Gadgets =/= Super powers
Deal with it.
>>134124671
DOMO
>>134120623
Expo '75 was huge in Japanese imagination, wasn't it? This space shuttle display was probably from there.
>>134141707
That shit is straight terrifying.
I really hope immortals have no sense of pain otherwise it hurts just to think about it.
>>134123478
They killed a lot of people to send that message.
>>134141707
I'm really glad that the ants eating Minoru was as quick as in a cartoon.
In truth, this would probably have been a few more gruesome minutes of seeing a guy being torn apart slowly layer by layer in pure agony.
Will there be any episode that can surpass the GOATest?
>>134141707
That's how it always has been, even most popular children books have some casual gruesome scenes here and there.
Like how in Snow White, the prince kills the queen by making her dance in hot iron shoes for what she did to Snow White.
It's only recently that people started censoring this kind of thing.
>>134135462
>Then we'll really all be fucked.
Trump will ruin everything
>>134142182
rip hippie bro
>>134142229
I believe this is the worst period of time to be living in Murrika'
Why haven't you left burgerbros?
>>134142246
As of this episode, it seems like the BUreau is'nt actively pursuing Jirou. Ain't their attitude two-three years later down the road.
>>134142168
They might have made sure that only they were going to be affected by the explosion, and probably also lived near the factory on purpose anyway.
Is this a Humvee in 1970?
>>134121901
That yellow jumpsuit. Bruce Lee confirmed immortal.
I thought Japan had a huge expo in 69 or something like that.
>>134129080
>>134142246
>>134142521
ANTS
>>134142406
It's been less than a year. Jirou isn't even wearing his edgelord coat yet.
I wonder why Emi would be mad at Jirou.
When is Kikko going to kill everyone? I'm starting to get pissed at all this secrecy and shady business.
Hoshinoko must be stopped, no matter the cost.
>>134142518
Yeah, the 20th Century Boys one.
>>134134040
Master Ultima did nothing wrong.
>>134142573
>edgelord coat
Is the justice coat made from the remnant of Rainbow Knight cape.
>>134142282
Burgers too good.
>>134141073
King Cheetahs, google it.
>>134142246
Who? Certainly if he had friends they would care about such a passing.
>>134143166
What a fucking nerd.
>>134143873
>not even a fucking tear.
>>134142126
If the father had a sense of pain before everything after the shit he's been through is nothing.
>>134142875
Something something somethingYOU GOT THE TOUCH
>>134143990
Nope, no tears at all.
>>134144140
I was surprised that he was married to a Qt even through he isn't attractive or rich
>>134143882
exactly, Jiro is the Hero of /a/. He's a buyfag chunni
>>134144418
He's infinitely better than our buyfags.
>>134144521
>Jiro's Rainbow Knight collection is more complete than any waifu collection you could ever obtain
Or it was anyway.
>>134144597
And exclusive, don't forget that, unless you have things used for your waifu.
>>134133825
Total bitch.
>>134145118
I hope she dies.
>>134146089
Kikko, you little skank.
I'm guessing 11 will probably be the space boy's episode, and then the last two of the cour will be Jiro leaving the Bureau, or possibly that space boy is involved in those events, which is also what probably leads to him joining up with Jiro.
>>134146215
I remember Raito saying something about boys dying, maybe space boy is one of the victims.
